Electrical System Problems of Ford F-350 - part 2

Ac compressor died bad clutch internally and they can’t fix it or tell when it will be fixed anytime soon. I have been told Ford isn’t making new replacements at this time. So where does that leave me?.

Air conditioning compressor clutch quit working. Was told Ford is t making them and was given zero information if or when it might be resolved.

Sync screen has gone black on radio causing all blind spots to be invisible while parking a large vehicle. I was told by Ford tech support this is a recall in certain year Ford explorers but not in the f series trucks! I looked up the issue on many of Ford forums and it is an unresolved issue. If the rear camera is a recall the image projecting device “sync radio” which is a brain to truck should be as well I would imagine. The laborer and parts for the repair are costly to the company and I’m extremely concerned with how I was treated when this is a known issue with Ford. I paid 62000 for a vehicle that now has a recall for a foggy camera but no recall for the device to visually see 360 degrees around vehicle. Suburban Ford of waterford wants to charge me upwards around 1000. 00 for parts and laborer to fix a known safety issue. All attempts to update have been completed and any Ford provided reset and install options have been performed. Downloaded the 3. 4 update onto thumb drive in the right format and just black screen of death it’s now been named in forums. They push it off as an update but the years being monitored have faulty apim modules. Causing screens to have no image, sound, and handsfree safety features. I've gotten about 15 to 20 on-screen messages that tell me my vehicle may not restart, my dash just dies in the middle of driving, my car will shut off by itself one started, my air conditioning will shut off automatically, I've got an issue with craftsmanship on my rear driver side door, and a plastic molding part just fell off my truck. I have taken pictures or videos as evidence where I could when it was safe to do so. It started in April but started documenting it in may after several repeat issues. I have more photos and video but can't upload them here due to size limitations.

My dash and head unit intermittently powers down then reboots both while I am parked and driving. It also gives a message saying it may not start up or something about low power mode, front camera error and pro assist error. I purchased my vehicle in Mar 2024 and it started around 3k miles. I've reached out to several dealerships about getting it repaired since it's under warranty and they can't even diagnose it without keeping my vehicles for days with no guarantee of any timelines. Since it need my vehicle for work and none of them will provide loners or rentals haven't been able to get the problem remedied. For some reason they need to hold on to my vehicle for days until they can even diagnose it and I can't make an appointment just to drop it off when there is a bay open. I reached out to Ford directly to see if I can get them to cover a rental car and they refused. I also asked if I can take it outside of the Ford service network because I can get it serviced faster and they said no since it is standard warranty. So I'm held hostage forced to use their service when they can't provide service timely. I have more pictures and videos as evidence.

Multiple electrical issues related to dashboard controls, video sensors, head unit. Controls powering down while driving, sensors throwing multiple error messages. All since 1,500 miles. Ford could not figure out what the issue was so they replaced the wiring harness. After 2 months in the shop I got my vehicle back. 2 weeks later I am getting the same error messages in the dash and has to go back into the shop for the same reason.

I frequently receive messages on the dash that the the truck: vehicle may not start/restart service now, pre-collision assist not available and front camera fault. My truck has died on me which in drive and reverse. My dash and console has powered down while on the freeway then restarted about a minute later. I get these messages but Ford service is too backed up to address the issue within a reasonable amount of time and they will not let me get it serviced outside of their dealer network.

Vehicle stalls while driving and wont start again suddenly while operating. Fuel injectors won’t feed fuel line to restart or operate. Occasional start but then stalls continuously until battery dies from trying. Will start when priming the carburetor however will not stay running and stalls out.

I started my truck normally when a very loud screeching/ pounding was coming from the speakers. My decibel meter was reading 128 db. Super loud! the volume didn't matter, turning off the radio did nothing. I was on my way to the dealership and stopped half way because of the noises from the speakers. I have a recording but it does even come close to how loud it actually is. No way can I drive it like this.

When you drive this truck for extended periods of time the entire instrument cluster shuts off loosing blinkers lights and any indication of speed, among that if you're towing a trailer the trailer lights shut off, Ford has tried fixing it under warranty to no avail, now the truck is out of warranty and the issue is getting worse and they're not sure what's wrong. The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated while the vehicle was in the automatic car wash, water entered the vehicle from the front windshield. The water leaked into the fuse box and short-circuited the fuse box. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was determined that the seal around the windshield needed to be resealed and the fuse box replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion while driving 70 mph, the vehicle abruptly came to a complete stop. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred 2 additional times. The dealer diagnosed that the clutch plate failed and gear 1 and gear 2 were heat-welded together. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The contact stated that while activating the heat in cold weather, the air recirculation system disengaged intermittently, causing outside air and a strong toxic odor to enter the cabin of the vehicle, causing health concerns. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was operating as designed, and that the air recirculation system could only remain engaged while the a/c was set to the max setting. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 400.

While driving 60 mph, in heavy rain, flat roadway the vehicle down shifted from 6th gear to 4th and from 6th gear to 3rd several times. The shift to 3rd from 6th was hard and accompanied by a temporary loss of forward momentum. No check engine light came on. All temperature gauges remained within normal range. The tachometer jumped and fell wildly during each of the events. I pulled off the highway at the next exit, turned off the ignition, and waited a few minutes. I restarted the truck and proceeded without additional problems.

I had a trailer hooked to my truck. While driving down the road the tailgate came down by it's self. Not knoing it was down there was damage to the tailgate $4,400. 00 worth risk is not being able to turn. Ford in baraboo WI looked at as well as my insurance. No warning lamps or message came on.

While driving my 21 f350 my truck would go into limp mode. The climate control stopped working, passenger window stopped, blind spot monitors, along with the mirror. After running forscan it showed every code possible. After an exhaustive search I finally found the main plug under the bed just above the spare tire. The wires inside of the insulation had corroded away to the point it had to be stripped back at least 1/2 inch before getting decent wires that wouldn't crumble when touched. This is a terrible place to put a plug that controls so much.

The back up camera will display a blue screen when truck is in reverse. This is a full size truck and I am unable to see behind me when trying to backup. There have been recalls on this issue with Ford but apparently my truck is not one of them.

On my 21 f350 while towing a 36 foot gooseneck unloaded I noticed a burning wire smell. And I realized I had no more trailer brakes. After diagnosis of the system I found the factory trailer brake controller had melted on the inside. Causing it to loose braking.

Trailer brakes continuously go out on multiple trailers with an associated right turn lamp fault. There was a related recall but did not cover all of the vehicles this is happening to. Manufacturer recall number: 22s17 NHTSA recall number: 22v193.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-350. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shut off upon depression of the start/stop button after several attempts. While driving to the dealer, several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and discovered that the battery junction box was defective due to moisture intrusion. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall on the vehicle. The contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

The truck has multiple leaks when it rains and water is getting inside of the truck through the back window, the sunroof and other places. Water recently go into the radio after a big rain storm and now the radio touch screen is not working. It’s making a crackling sound as if it’s going to start on fire. There was recall for this on other Fords but not this specific model but is having the same exact issue. Ford needs to cover this as this is safety hazard. Multiple owners of this specific model have complained and there’s been no resolve.

The control arm for the turnsignals and wiper system fails resulting in the delay wipers constantly running. This is both an annoyance to driving as well as an obstruction to your field of vision. There also a risk of damage to the windshield as well. This is a very, very common part failure with Ford trucks.

Bcm body control module is faulty so far my brights no longer work my fog lights no longer work and my left rear turn signal no longer works it is slowly getting worse taking out more and more components on the truck part is backorder with over 2070 of them requested threw Ford with no update on when the part will be available.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the a/c unit turned off without being disengaged. The tire pressure warning light flashed on the instrument panel. Additionally, the indicator lights were blinking quickly, and trailer turn light failed to illuminate properly and there was a delay when the trailer was connected. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brain control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

Trailer brake control module shorts out intermittently causing trailer brakes to not work. This causes the vehicle and trailer to not be able to stop on time in a short distance. Dealer has confirmed that this is the issue. Error message is “trailer wiring fault” and “trailer disconnected” while driving with trailer attached.

Truck died and never started again. Metal shavings from fuel pump.

Rear view camera is very cloudy trucks with 360 camera are already included in a recall, my truck does not have 360 camera but has the same cloudy camera issues that has been getting progressively worse to the point rear view camera is useless.

While driving the trailer plug melted at the connection to the truck. I got a message that the trailer was disconnected and there were no brakes on the trailer. The plug on the truck is burned.

The issue I am reporting concerns the management of the climate control in the vehicle. Setting a desired driver and/or passenger temperature setting is fruitless as the temperature will swing wildly on either side randomly either rendering the output to become extremely hot or cold. The safety concern is the ongoing requirement to continually adjust the settings to manage the wild swings in temperature which has been extremely concerning (dangerous) on longer commutes, tight traffic and in trailering as I must continually take my eyes off the road to adjust. The dealership has attempted to address the concern unsuccessfully and Ford will not acknowledge the concern. I am aware of and in contact with at least 4 other owners of the exact year, model, trim, options etc. With exactly the same concern and none able to obtain resolution or acknowledgement. Again, this truck is a large truck and when trailering a 40' load all attention must be on the road not fidgeting with a/c controls. Extremely unsafe. The issue arose within one week of taking delivery of the new vehicle and has continued for 7+ months without resolution. I have videos of the events occurring and have presented those to the dealership but am also told no codes are showing up during these events. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms occur leading up to the events. The vehicle has been into the dealership 5 times attempting to resolve but todate the issue is unresolved. Have included some of the dealership's work orders and write-ups but unable to upload videos.

The trailer brake controller randomly says trailer disconnected and will not apply the trailer brakes, but you can manually operate the brakes from the controller and they work fine, I have replaced every thing on the trailer brakes,wires,7pin plug, and I keep getting the same fault randomly( trailer disconnected). Ford tells me the unit is fine, well it is not, I have pulled the trailer with a chevy and a Dodge and the brakes work as they should. It happens everything I use it and after doing a google search, seems there many others with the same problem.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford f-250. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the center console control screen was blank. The rear-view camera, radio, and other electrical features and functions became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the accessory interface module (aim) needed to be replaced. The contact restarted the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 55,300.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? transfer case shift motor failure, transmission slipping in 3,2,1 gear and when accelerating from 7-8 gear. Electronics on dash have gone out while driving multiple times. Tailgate opened up while driving multiple times. Trailer brake. Drivers side faulty window (glass) fracture across entire window when not moving. Yes, all can be inspected or paper work reviewed for repairs complete. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? could not use 4 wheel drive in icy/snowy conditions to get to destination. Transmission slipping caused my foot to come off brake pedal and immediately had to reengage brake pedal due to the force of the transmission slipping (like the transmission was falling out from under the truck), nearly hitting the car in front of me on both occasions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. All issues have been confirmed by local Ford dealer and fixed by certified Ford mechanic, but once issue is repaired, the electronics issues and transmission issue continue to arise (exact same issues). Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes, by the dealership (Ford representatives). Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, no warning signs for any of the defects other than a letter for the tailgate recall, brake recall and wiper recall.

The engine block heater cord is malfunctioning and it's also hanging down. I've tried over and over to get it to stay up and that is a problem. And also it's got a problem with a corroding and I plugged it in one time and it sparked so I need that fixed also. God I hope these people will finally do something. I've had a real problem with them and I spent a lot of money with them. This is the third vehicle I bought from Ford.

The backup camera fails to function when truck is in reverse causing a back over danger to children it was specifically supposed to address.
