The fuel injection system is the same as Dodge and Chevrolet. I own a 2014 f350 with a 6. 7 diesel. My truck has been broken down for 6 months, after catastrophic failure in the road due to cp4 fuel injection pump. I continue to look for recalls only to find Dodge and Chevrolet who use same injection pump.

The Fords have two issues with the fuel system. The cp4 fuel pumps have a common failure imploding and sending metal through the fuel system, a costly repair over $12,000. The second extremely dangerous failure on the fuel filter housing. It cracks spraying fuel into the engine compartment. If not shut off immediately a fire engulfs the car. Both are extremely common, a safety hazard and expensive repair that Ford should fix immediately.

I scan the truck misfire keep popping up I change four coil packs and all new sparkplugs and the same thing 4cyl misfire again and its paper sucking up thru tail pipe.

I spoke with Ford about the service bulletin for the egr cooler that expired in April 2023. They said because of the low mileage, to contact you to see if the recall, (21m04), could be added back to this vehicle for repairs.

The fuel pump failed and self destructed internal parts of the pump in turn putting metal into the fuel lines resulting in a $15,000 repair bill. The vehicle is available for inspection and has not been repaired. This occurred in November 2024 and has not been driven since due to the costly repair bill. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership and independent service center. The only indication of the issue was when the check engine light illuminated. No other preemptive warning.

2017 Ford f350 superduty 6. 7l diesel will intermittently surge/buck while towing uphill under load causing loss of power and creating unsafe driving situation. When it happens I’ve also observed electrical power loss to obd-ii port where I have accessory guage installed to monitor critical truck systems like oil temp, trans temp, coolant temp, etc. . No dtc or fault codes are generated when this happens. I haven’t taken to dealer yet but I’ve researched and read lots of truck forums where multiple Ford owners have had the same issue. When they’ve taken their truck to the dealer they’ve been told this is “normal”. I don’t agree and believe this is a serious safety issue to a consumer that suddenly loses all power and must let off all acceleration while other cars are following/around vehicle when vehicle surges. This has now happened four different times and various speeds (30-60 mph).

Component; fuel filter component available; yes safety; fuel leak on engine ( fire risk ) reproduced; no inspected; no warnings; smell of fuel/fuel on ground and water.

Truck refuses to regen. Find a service bulletin for known maf problems on the 6. 7 engines. This issues cause truck to go into limp mode and can shut truck off with little to no notice. Leaving people stuck possibly in the middle of the road. Cost over $1100 to fix. How is there no recall or even warning to owners that this may be an issue? just a technical service bulletin for service departments at Ford….

The owners manual states I have a tank capacity of 36 gallons. On e I can only fit about 26 gallons. If I were to take my average mpg and use the advertised 36 gallons to figure out how far I would run out of fuel and this would cause the vehicle to stall while driving. Ford is aware of this issue and knows how to fix it but declined to take care of the safety repair.

Fuel filter failed and is available for inspection: driving back from gloucester MA to cohoes NY, pulled into charlton MA rest stop on i90 parking in truck area fueling lot noticed fluids leaking from engine compartment, upon further inspection found fuel filter spraying diesel fuel all over engine compartment and components. My life, my passengers and surrounding personnel may have been injured or killed if went un noticed for too long while parking next to fuel pumps when engine was running or driving along I 90. There were no warning lights indicating loss of fuel pressure or any sort of engine light on. Luckily I noticed it before it could get out of hand and happened during a week day during business hours a local Ford dealer, ida Ford in auburn MA had a fuel filter kit in stock: they also stated they just had another customer a few days earlier with the same issue. Had to uber to and from dealer to get parts to repair. Poured water on engine to break down diesel fuel over engine to drive back to NY and not cause a fire. Looking online for a recall and don’t see my year of vehicle but just 2021????.

Fuel filter and is available for inspection-driving back to cohoes NY from gloucester MA pulled into charlton MA rest stop to use the restrooms, while getting ready to leave started vehicle and got out waiting for passengers noticed fluids leaking from engine compartment, while inspecting found it was diesel fuel and spraying out of fuel filter on top of engine block. Then noticed a trail of diesel fuel from my path going into rest stop. I parked next to the fuel pumps if that had ignited my life, my passenger and the people in the rest stop life would’ve been endangered. Luckily I caught it before anything happened. I was able to reach a local Ford dealer for parts and uber to and from and repaired. Pouring water over engine to dilute remaining fuel over engine. No warning or engine light came on warning of loss of fuel pressure.

Emissions control system has "failed" 5 times. Check engine light illuminated. Each time: p0420 dtc code: "catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1). Manufacturer is unable to fix. Vehicle will go into "limp mode" stranding owners/passengers.

This truck had a complete fuel system replaced already once when it failed while the customer was driving. We are the next owners and didn't know it had this major failure before purchase. We know this fuel pump is an issue and Ford has active law suits against them as these pumps that they continue to put even in the new Fords and all other makes of trucks are blowing up daily. Ford sees it as a revenue stream to keep their shops busy. Fuel is highly flammable and we tow a travel trailer. I would hate to see something bad happen because they won't issue a recall. There several years that are under recall currently and our year is not one of them but it has the same pump. They should not only issue recalls on all trucks that have the known failing cp4 pump, but also give the customers the option to upgrade with the after market dcr pump. The one pump that has been the #1 best replacement option. Installing a new cp4 pump only buys Ford mote time to next failure and keeps their ships full. We spent 50k on this truck. Again, it already happened once! let's be sure to issue recalls on all trucks with cp4 pumps with a real solution and not just another dangerous cp4. We don't want our truck to catch on fire while driving. Its a very big safety concern!.

On March 17th, 2023, my 2017 Ford F-350 and I experienced a catastrophic failure of the cp4 high-pressure fuel pump. According to a tristar Ford (kittanning, pennsylvania) diesel mechanic, the cp4 pump literally exploded (mechanically blew apart). At the point of failure on the road, the result was diesel fuel everywhere on rt. 422 about 15 miles se of kittanning, in the pouring rain. The vehicle stopped on the uphill side of a very steep long slope. The entire engine compartment was flooded with diesel fuel, and the roadway had diesel fuel pooled under the truck, and later, down the storm-water management ditch for several hundred feet. Yes, the diesel-fuel contaminated area was greater than 1600 square feet. Cp4 pumps fail all of the time, and Ford knows this. So do you! these kinds of failures are safety issues (extreme fire hazard!!), and you and Ford have known this for years! you need to make Ford recall all vehicles with this cp4 pump installed!.

In November, I accidentally put def fluid in the fuel. I took the truck to a dealer for repairs. The check engine light had been on before. They drained the fuel system and replaced filters and such. The check engine light was out. There was no mention of any concerns of any further problems. In February I was driving with a trailer in tow and the truck just turned off in the road. I was not even able to get out of the roadway. At the time the engine shut off a warning light came on to tell me there was reduced engine power. I had the truck towed to another dealer near where I was. They ran diagnostics and changed the fuel filters. No mention of the chance of any continuing problems. The truck shut off in the road again on the way home. I took it to a mechanic near my home. He ran more diagnostics and replaced the fuel rail and other components in the fuel system. Again, no mention of any continuing problems. In April, when I was pulling a trailer again it shut off in the highway again. I had it towed to the mechanic near my house again. He did more diagnostics and said the high pressure fuel pump had gone out and had damaged the injectors. I don't yet have the truck back to see if it will actually run now.

This issue is connected with the 6. 7l diesel engine. When sitting and idling it starts to idle really fast and the exhaust has an odor and strong fumes. It did not use to do this. I took to my Ford dealership and they say it's normal and there is nothing wrong. I have talked with other people that own the Ford diesel and they have experienced the same issue and been told the same thing by their dealership. No warnings or anything come up when the vehicle does this. If you enter the vehicle and touch the brake or accelerator it will then idle back down.

Filled the tank before arriving home, parked on incline nose down. Not very steep. A few hours later there was a puddle of diesel on the driveway and after inspection it seemed it was leaking from the top of tank. I have no other vehicle and this one cost too much to be doing this at 60000 miles. It is dangerous to drive for fire risk but I have no choice. In 55 years I have never had a fuel tank leak on any vehicle. Looking online there have been many instances under the same conditions. There is no condition that a fuel tank should leak.

This vehicle developed a fuel leak in the area of the top of the engine which resulted in a fire that destroyed the vehicle. I spoke to the Ford motor company and they said that there are no recalls or technical service bulletins regarding this. I just wanted to make you aware of my experience so if anyone else experienced this it may show a pattern. Thank you.

Check engine light comes on almost everyday. After at least 5 minutes driving, this trucks engine will shut down with out notice. Usually when making a turn or coming to a stop light. When this happens you loose all steering control. You have to shift to neutral and try and restart. This has caused me to almost rearend a highway patrol vehicle. Very dangerous. I have had this vehicle in to the local Ford dealership on numerous occasions; however they will not run diagnostics to see what is happening. Have ad independant mechanic and my scan tool run tests and it always shows code p0191 fuel pressure rail faault. Maintenance is always uptodate ad fuel filters changed by dealer every 5,000 miles. Dealer and mf not honoring warrenty.

Ford claims fuel was contaminated and redid whole fuel system when in fact I have read and was told by my mechanic that the lining in the fuel tank was flaking off due to new diesel Ford was aware of this problem and is making lots of money replacing the whole fuel system did not cover under warranty.

Squirrel/rodent damage. Fuel vent tube eaten, had to replace fuel tank.

Cp4 high pressure fuel pump catastrophic failure. My fuel pump grenades and I lost all power on a busy road. I was able to use momentum after the loss of power to safely exit the roadway. I had no warning lamps prior to failure my vehicle will not start now and is currently at a shop being investigated.

The fuel lines are made of a plastic that attracts rodents. At 3000 miles on the odometer mine were chewed thru, I remote started it and saw the fuel dumping and spraying on the ground. Had I not seen or smelt the gas and got into the vehicle before starting it. It would have caught fire and burnt to the ground. Ford would not take ownership of this design flaw, rodent damage is not under their warranty, so I had to pay for the repair which included a 34 gallon fuel cell replacement. I would imagine many other vehicles including the recent SUV fires might have a similar issue. Once the fire starts, there's no way to establish root cause for the failure because all evidence would be destroyed.

We were driving and noticed a few white puffs of smoke. The next thing that happened was a loud bang from the engine and the cab of the truck filled with black smoke. Within 5 minutes, the entire truck was engulfed in flames, as well as our camper. There was no warning indication on the dash. The insurance company had investigators look at the remains. However, since the truck was aluminum and the fuel filter housing and low pressure side of the fuel system was plastic, everything totally melted. The truck was properly serviced prior to our travels.

The all very common issues with the year f350 and the 6. 0 l. Engines, are as such. The malfunctioning ficm. The high and low oil coolers, the inter coolers and head studs. Also leaking break fluid .

1/4/2022 – traveling to southern ohio in F-350. Engine light came on. Truck info screen showed exhaust fluid system fault – indicating truck would lock to 50 mph within a certain number of miles, then possibly shut down. Finally got in touch with Ford dealership in chillicothe and took truck there. They determined it was a def heater and pump causing the issue, and that it would be covered by Ford as an extended warranty issue. Ford decided our truck was not covered. On 1/11, Ford added a new campaign – 21m01, reductant heater and sender assembly, covering the cost of replacement of these items. We were told we needed to pay the repair and Ford would reimburse. To this date, we have not been reimbursed - in fact have pretty much been ignored. The sensor recalibration they did caused the particulate filter to fail. Ford has said they won't replace, even though service manager has said the filter failed because Ford had them recalibrate the sensor. We could have been stranded 140 miles from home because of this design fault that Ford knows about - but is not being forced to take care of. Our truck has less than 64000 miles on it and was purchased new by me in April 2014. Will you please strongly encourage Ford to stand by this defective equipment they have installed in their vehicles, as their 'customer satisfaction campaigns' do not adequately encourage them to fix these faulty issues. Volkswagen and Audi both stand by their defective equipment.

A main computer communication cable failed (rubbed through) due to rubbing due from the use of the parking brake. I noticed all my gauges were not working. I happened to be very close to the Ford dealer, so I pulled in the lot and turned the truck off to see if the issue would reset. Upon trying to start the truck, everything was dead. I got the service manager and left the truck. When he called me to tell me what he found, I immediately recall reading about this same issue several times on the Ford truck enthusiast web site, and the fix was simply moving the communication cable so it doesn’t rub.

The cp4 injection pump destructed and took out the whole fuel system with it. Cause upwards of $12,000 in repairs this is a issue Ford needs to address and get took care and take some responsibility on there own.

Check engine light came on in my 2015 f 3 50 super duty crew cab truck. Upon inspection at the Ford dealership I was told the reductant heater and sender assembly need to be replaced at a cost of $1100. This is happening within 60 days of heat sensor recall being done. When I look into this topic this repair has a recall on it for f2 50s through f5 50’s including various years up to 2015, but the f3 50 is only up to 2012.
