Ford F-350 owners have reported 4 problems related to windshield wiper/washer motor (under the visibility category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Recall already done on October 29, 2002 for wiper motor. On November 12, 2004 I started the truck up and a minutes later I looked and saw smoke coming from the underneath the hood and the wipers running all by themselves in the parked position, the wiper motor malfunctioned again. It was towed to the dealership after calling them. Total replacement coverage is unknown and damage is unknown at this time.

During rainy weather traveling at 70 mph, the backwash from another vehicle covered consumers windshield. When attempting to activate the windshield wipers, it suddenly quit working causing zero visibility. Dealer found a loose fuse. On another occasion, the windshield wiper failed again causing driver to hit the sidewalk. Dealer daignosed the windshield wiper motor as faulty and replaced.

Vehicle was parked with motor running, and consumer noticed black smoke in cab, and flames coming from under hood. Put out fire, and had vehicle towed to dealer, who found faulty windshield wiper motor caused fire. Fuses did not blow, consumer felt this will happen again. Ford not willing to replace vehicle, just do repairs. Consumer wanted vehicle replaced. This happened 3 weeks after purchase of vehicle!.
Recall involving wiper motor for f350. The consumer was unable to find the wiper motor recall on NHTSA's website.
