Ford F-550 owners have reported 6 problems related to automatic transmission (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While shifting, the transmission down shifted on its own. The transmission surged, and the vehicle blew out blue smoke. The consumer drove vehicle to the dealer, and the mechanic determined that ebp sensor needed to be replaced. The engine loaded up with fuel, smoke, surging when down shifted when the brake was applied, and severe missing when gears went down to first, all occurred as the vehicle was in the tow haul position. When the problem occurred on ice or snow covered roads.

While driving in reverse to dump a load of material a fire erupted in engine compartment. Dealership is in possession of truck ,and has not released it to the owner. Cause of the fire was transmission vent hose being pinched, which caused an increase in pressure behind the dip-stick. Dip-stick was forced out of place due to pressure. This allowed transmission fluid to be sprayed into hot engine compartment. Please provide any additional information / documentation.

While driving transmission/brakes failed.
The f53 motorhome chassis has a severe vibration. Rv has been taken to three different heavy duty truck dealerships attempting to correct the vibration. The rear end has been replaced, 4 rear tires have been replaced, transmission has been shimmed, and tires balance several times. Vibration is still there. Hands have a tendancy to tingle from the vibration and am afraid loss of control is possible.
