Ford F-550 owners have reported 2 problems related to axle assembly (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The front axle tube is broken and cracked through where the centering support rod attaches to the axle. When this occurred it fell down onto the center link of the steering which caused the steering to bind and not turn freely. This happened in our corporation yard, but had it happened on the road it would have caused an accident and very probably personal injury. There is no impact damage of any kind to this vehicle. This is a safety issue of great magnitude. I informed my local Ford dealer and they are looking into it. This is a manufacturing defect.
