Failure Date: 05/06/2008

The contact owns a 2005 Ford f550. While driving at any speed, the clutch locks to the bottom of the floor when it is engaged. The failure prevents the contact from switching gears and the vehicle continues to accelerate. In order to stop the vehicle from accelerating, he must manually force the vehicle to switch gears. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. The vehicle has been diagnosed by the dealer several times, but the failure still persists. The current mileage was 50,084 and failure mileage was 15,000.

2 Manual Transmission problem of the 2004 Ford F-550

Failure Date: 03/20/2004

Problem 1: in 2004 I purchased a new Ford F-550 with the gasoline v10. About one month after owning the truck the through-out bearing on the clutch started making noise and has done so. This year with only 49,000 miles on the truck now it does not want to go into gear sometimes. By the time I contacted my dealer he said that the truck was off warranty. Did they sell cheap bearings in these trucks, because my last f350 I had for 14 years without any problems. Problem 2: ever since I haved owned this truck. When you are sitting at a light and get ready to go. All of a sudden the engine shuts down for about 2 seconds and then goes.

4 Manual Transmission problem of the 2000 Ford F-550

Consumer uses vehicle for hauling purposes. Pilot bearing goes out which disengages the clutch. This causes gears not to shift. Vehicle is only operating in neutral, and relying on the brakes. Problem occurs every 1600-1700 miles. Dealer is aware. Please provide more information.
