While on streets, transmission noises like rocks, clicking, and jerking occurs constantly contributing to failure to proceed smoothly from a stop and when attempting to slow down in preparation of stopping. At times, there is a sudden slipping with jerking forward, especially if traffic ahead is suddenly slowing dramatically. At times, while slowing to a full stop, the vehicle "jumps" forward then stops. While slowly turning left or right or a u-turn, the car deliberately bucks and hesitates before completing the turn. These conditions are a day to day common occurrence. Speed or the length of distance or time in use does not change the stated conditions, sounds, or occurrences. It has become scary to drive, especially after driving an hour or more on the freeway and when I exit the freeway, the transmission and braking conditions are so magnified that slowing at the end of a ramp to stop is forceful. Not normal. I have had the beginning of these problems since I purchased this vehicle 6/17/15. Of course the problems, the detection of noises and sudden unusual movements did not occur all at once. I took my vehicle to kingman's Ford dealer for all maintenance while in az and to a Ford dealer in CA. I asked that my description of problems I heard and felt be written in the report or complaint section of every service repair form but it was never done. On 4/8/2016, Ford dealer in kingman, az called me to inform me that they had just received the necessary parts to correct all the transmission and operating characteristics I was experiencing and gave me a 2 page powershift 6-speed transmission operating characteristics form dated 9/27/2012 and it contained the "common sounds a driver may notice" regarding: double clicking metal sounds, coast down whine, clicking when engine turned off, low speed grinding. Documentation is with Ford.
Issues with transmission. Ford power shift transmission has been a issue multiple times with transmission failing to properly engage and grinding noise and jerking when accelerating at low speeds causing steering to shake possible safety issue if this ever happened at high speeds. This issue happens mostly when accelerating from a stop and when slowed to near stop apprx 5-10 mph multiple computer and transmission controll unit reprogram a and clutch has been replaced approximately 8000 miles prior to today's date and having same issues as before.
Ford Fiesta 2013 (automatic transmission) - started car. Put car in reverse. Car did not reverse and there were rattling and grinding sounds coming from transmission. Restarted car. Car reversed. However, once car was put into drive the transmission was rattling and grinding again. Once I tried to accelerate, the car lurched forward, stopped and lurched forward again. The acceleration was not smooth, it felt like the car might stall. The engine noises were loud and not typical. Until I reached 45 miles per hour, the engine did not quiet down. Driving in traffic was terrible. I had to leave extra room to stop as I did not trust the car to downshift properly. I had to leave extra room to accelerate because I could not predict if the car would go at all or accelerate at an unpredictable speed because the transmission was not trustworthy and the clutch kept slipping. Overall, the Fiesta's transmission issue has to do with the vehicle's design, and this is not an isolated incident. From 20,000 miles on, I have taken the car in twice to try and fix this defect and it continues to exist. I currently do not have the car as it is at the dealership and has been for 24 days and counting. They can't seem to fix the defects and this transmission design should be investigated. I am currently working with the bbb autoline to try and resolve this issue.
When accelerating from a stop the car hesitates and then lunges forward, and shutters. When driving up a hill or turning corners the car shutters. When accelerating the car makes noises due to the shift forks. When at a stop with the car running and in the drive position, or when stopped on a flat surface the car rolls in reverse. As my son was walking behind the car while it was in parked on a slight incline the car rolled back and hit my son.
I am experiencing issues with my 2013 Ford Fiesta se. I have noticed that between speeds of 5 and above that there is a crunching noise coming from the engine. The car also lunges when shifting or slowing down making it harder to stop. I have called Ford's consumer care hotline and was told this is a normal trait for the vehicle, but when I explained that when I test drove the car, it did not do any of this. The car now has 1300 miles on it and it seems that the crunching, lunging and hesitation is getting worse. I feel like I have been ripped off by Ford motor company for not being advised of this issue before hand. I put my trust in Ford and evidently that was the wrong thing to do.
Was accelerating after a stoplight, and suddenly after much hesitation, the vehicle lurched forward violently and shuddered. It continued doing this at every stop-and-go for well over a year, as well as making horrific grinding noises, and started dragging horribly recently. I took it in for clutch/seal replacement as indicated by a letter from Ford, and got the vehicle back yesterday. It isn't lurching as much, but never shifts into sixth gear (it never did before either) and now vibrates at high speeds, as well as making a noise only describable as "a barrel rolling down a road". I am in the midst of a complaint case with Ford, and am also researching a class-action lawsuit/have submitted my story for a lawyer working on a suit. I have almost had multiple wrecks in the last year due to these issues, and as I am a photographer, I carry expensive company equipment in my car daily. This vehicle puts my equipment and myself at risk. My own demand is for Ford to buy the car back, or at least pay it off so I can sell it, and recall the car or at least the transmission. This car was a horrible mistake to build. Who puts two three-speed manual transmissions together with electrical wiring and calls it a six-speed automatic? someone who's trying to be cheap, that's who. With no regard for the safety of customers.
I purchased a 2013 Ford Fiesta in July of 2013. The first two weeks I was driving it, I noticed jerking, lunging, and shuttering when trying to accelerate from low speeds or from a stopped position. Soon thereafter, a metal noise started from the engine area. I took it back to the dealership and they said I had a problem with the "clutch" in the transmission and it would have to be replaced. It took a while (11 days) to get the part in, but the work was done. Several weeks later the problem started again. I drove the car as it was because I needed it for my busy job. When I transferred to houston in the fall of 2014, I had it serviced again at the local Ford dealership because the problem was getting worse. They had my car for 3 days and all they said was it "needed an update. " update or not, the problem was and is still there. The lunging, and mis-shifts have never been worse. I put up with it until this week when I accelerated in houston traffic and my Fiesta would not go. I could have caused a terrible accident and injury to myself and others due to the transmission not functioning properly. The shuttering is so bad that it seems as if the car's back brakes are locked up and the car is dragging its back end. I have a new appointment on 6/29/15 with the same dealership that did the "update. " this will be the third time I have had a dealership attempt to fix this problem.
The vehicles engine makes noise as if something is caught in the engine or is having trouble shifting the entire time while driving. The car jerks aggressively when you begin to accelerate as if it is having trouble changing into gears. When trying to accelerate at times it will seem as if it looses power causing to almost come to an abrupt stop and shaking as if it is going to shut off! not the kind of trouble you should be having with a new car! I have to step off the gas pedal so that it can stop jerking. Several times I have been in the middle of traffic almost having people slam into me because of the abrupt stops the car has, or me almost hitting a car because it jerks to a sudden take off when pressing the accelerator.
Purchased the car brand new drove it home about 65 miles. Wife drove it another 150 round trip out of town. We noticed a shuttering from a stop and when shifting. We were going to take it in for service but didn't have time to call them. Only have had the car 6 days. Then we are driving and hear a grinding/crackling noise from the left side sounds and fells as though the cv axle is going to break or something. Call road side assistance and they tow it in. Waiting until the am to see what they say. There is really something wrong here. My wife was driving at the time the noise and vibration almost caused us to wreck due to it scaring her when it started it. This issue needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt and should not wait until that happens.
I bought a 2013 Ford Fiesta in March. After driving it for about a week or two I noticed a rattling noise and some jerking when the car shifts gears. I took it to montebello Ford where I bought the car and they told me that was normal and because of the transmission it uses. I didn't believe them so I took it to another dealership in alhambra and they told me they couldn't find a problem. I recently took it in for a oil leak problem and ask if they could check the transmission again. They acknowledged that there was a problem this time and said they did a update to the system and some adjustments to fix the transmission, but after that the problem got even worse. It jerks even more now. ( it jerks so much in traffic I feel like I'm getting car sick) I plan to take it back next week but I would like to report this problem to someone so hopefully they can do a recall or something and get this problem fixed.
Took my car in beginning of Feb 2014 that is when they would have a car for me. They ended up replacing the clutch in transmission. . Days later it started making the grinding rubbing noise on my way to rich's auto for them to check my car. They test drove my car definitely making noise as car is shifting, I left there went to the store the noise was so loud that I felt lucky to get home. Ford CO service rep for my area makes an appt for a week later. Barely heard the noise on my way there but the car now hesitates to accelerate while driving to pass slower cars. Got to 6-8 rpms and advance 1 mph in 5-10 sec. The dealership service dept. Could find anything wrong everything is within the limits by Ford standard. I do not feel safe driving my car and have requested a return. The worse mistake I made was purchasing the car.
Fsa # 14e08; fsa # 14m01; fsa # 14m02 approx. Mileage at time of first complaint was 1500 miles. Current mileage is 119,xxx January 2018 approximate beginning of complaints is January 2013. Complaints are: -excessive hesitation / shudder / "whiplash-like" feeling when slow and normal acceleration is applied during take off, in all driving conditions. -excessive grinding and occasional clunking noise during slow and normal acceleration after a complete stop. -as of July 2017, occasional grinding with "clanking" noise occurs when slowing down to a complete stop; typically after approximately 30 minutes of highway driving and than at the first stop. -may 2014 to current, red fluid (transmission fluid) found on ground after being parked for more than 12 hours. Fluid seems to be coming from a shaft seal; at time of observation, cv shaft was found to have excessive play ((the service company at the time had the vehicle in the air and I observed the cv shaft rotating more than 1 to 1 1/2 inches (approximately) when no play should have been present; I could also hear the bearings grinding or rubbing. )) -vehicle seems to randomly lose power during first ignition startup. I would start the car, a few seconds later it would have a complete loss of power, I would than restart it, and it would operate as normal. Approximate number of this occurring is no more than 5 times since January 2015. -most recent complaint, October 2017, while accelerating for highway on ramp, vehicle lost complete power for approximately 2 seconds (speed at time of power loss was approx. 57mph). I lost control of steering and vehicle "shifted" or "jumped" to the left. The vehicle made a fast recovery on its own and continued as normal. Weather conditions were not harsh; there was slight rain / mist and above 55 degrees fahrenheit.
First complaint filed 7/13 reference # 10524870. Transmission made a clanking noise when driving from 10-60 mph. Also jerks back on occasion from a stopped position and going forward. The cylinder block, hex head, and gasket and clutch replaced. Since my complaint I have been in arbitration and received a 5 year/100,000 mile power train extended service plan warranty on 12/2013. The care still makes the clanking noise when shifting "sounds like a loose bicycle chain". Since then I have had a oil leak and on 4/17/14 the camshaft was replaced. Last week the oil was changed and now I have a transmission leak. I have called several Ford dealers and turned away from one due to 3 week wait time for any transmission problems and most Ford dealers ae experiencing the same problem with 3-4 weeks to get an appointment for a transmission check.
Within the first 2 weeks of owning this car, I noticed a grinding rubbing sound coming from the front of the car as I would accelerate, generally it would stop after 2nd or 3rd gear. My husband made sure nothing was rubbing under the car but the noise continued. As we drove more miles, new symptoms appeared such as lurching when gas pedal was released and depressed, shuttering upon acceleration to the point where the car barely moves, while idling at a stop it sometimes lurches and bucks, and down shifting while accelerating causing the engine to rev to 2500rpm while driving. Also, while using the cruise control, the car will downshift and rev without provocation just driving on a flat straight highway. My husband drives me to work sometimes because the car is so unpredictable and dangerous, I'm afraid I will get stuck in an intersection and get broadsided or I'll lurch into another car.
2013 Ford Fiesta bought 11/23/12. Problems within 4 days; it's definitely a death trap. To repair shop 11/27/12, 11/30/12, 12/12/12 & 03/27/13 for intermittent problems. Initially started hearing a buzzing from right side of motor & smelling something hot like rubber burning. The original problems were joined with a grinding noise from the transmission area on the left side of the car (loudest between 32 & 42 mph), it began to hesitate, shutter, stall, lurch, not move forward until high rpms reached & then it suddenly lunged forward. Difficulty pulling steep hills/driveways & doesn't reverse at times. We've nearly been rear-ended & broadsided on more than once; I almost rear-ended someone else. Cruise control problem on interstate could have gotten my family killed; tapped brakes to disengage cruise control as I was being passed on one side & was approaching a slow moving vehicle. I pulled to the left lane & proceeded past the slower vehicle building my speed back up to 70; I pushed the resume button & suddenly the car's speed dropped drastically & then jumped back up causing the rpms to rev very high before returning to normal. Thankfully no one was behind me; if it would have happened in the other lane we would have been hit by a semi-truck. The car continues to develop more problems each day. In April 2013, the car was parked on a level store lot. My son had just entered the car & I was getting in the driver's side. I had just got my butt on the seat & my right leg in the car when I hear a clicking noise, then the car started to roll forward; I immediately jerked my left leg in & instinctively pressed the brake & reached for the gear shift thinking I forgot it in gear but to my surprise it was in park. Now I always pull the emergency brake & at home for added safety I put a block in front of the tire also.
