In September 2020 I was on the expressway when my engine failed, I was able to get into the emergency lane after almost causing an accident, after inspecting the car it was concluded that the engine was no longer viable with no explanation of why the engine failed. So I replaced the engine and the car was still not drivable. In March 2022 I was able to get it started when I tried to drive the car the transmission was slipping, the “ transmission malfunction service now” warning came on, and the rpm gauge on the dash was not reading properly. I ran a code after the transmission warning came on, and the code said p0001, I called the Ford dealership to get it serviced when I was told that there was an unknown recall but the part was on back order for a year, so my car wouldn’t be fixed until the order came in, I searched my VIN number and had a recall for a fuel tank deformation, I also learned that there was a lawsuit against Ford for their 2012 Ford Focus transmissions, which could explain the engine failure and the transmission problems.
Bought the car may 2020 and 3 months later the gas gauge would say empty when it wasn't. I would run out of gas multiple times and be stranded. I would keep a full gas tank in my trunk just incase because alot of times my kids were with me. The last time this happened the car stalled. I put gas in the car from my gas tank but it would not start anymore.
2012 Ford Focus known to have transmission problems. Brakes rumble when being pressed. I am concerned about the safety of the transmission. I have seen that Ford has known about this problem. What is Ford doing to correct this problem.
I have a 2012 Ford Focus seli I recently went to a Ford dealership to get my purge valve replace because I seen online that my particular vehicle was the same type of vehicle that the government had placed a recall on it because of the purge valve is becoming 40s I have the same issue and I tried to go to Ford to get it fixed they told me that since it was already fixed they can't fix the issue again no I only have the car for only nine months and within the nine months is became a became faulty. I need for to be responsible for replacing their defective device is that they fail to build properly.
My wife bought this vehicle in June 2020, she has been having fuel system engine light codes coming on p0456 and p1450 l know there was a recall in relation to this and l understand the previous vehicle owner had the recall done on June 14, 2019 a year ago, I called Ford customer care and they are not willing to take care of it, it is not normal to have the issue come back after one year from taking care of it. I am asking the NHTSA to assist on this. Thank you.
The transmission shutters and shakes very frequently. Vehicle also periodically will almost stall while driving. Overall the vehicle just feels incredibly unsafe and unreliable while operating.
While driving on the freeway around 6pm and taking an on ramp onto another freeway the Ford Focus stalled mid-drive and would not accelerate anymore or switch to higher gears when the accelerator was pressed. The Ford immediately could not go any faster than first gear and luckily we avoided an accident by pulling to the side of the freeway on ramp into the vegetation since there was no shoulder. There was no noise or indication that something had happened to the vehicle. The engine light came on and the vehicle just stopped driving in the middle of driving at around 50mph. It would not drive backwards when put into reverse and would rev up to extremely high rpm when the driver tried to move forwards or backwards. Towed the car to the mechanic the next day and they ran a diagnostic that came back with 5 error codes including: p0805, p087a, p2831, p2836, and p2861. A pin point test was performed and found that the voltage was at a consistent 5 volts, so they cleared the codes and took the vehicle for a test drive and it was fine again. The vehicle has about 79,000 miles. Attached will be the mechanics form along with what they said are several codes for related recalls that were supposedly already fixed.
Engine light on and car shudders. Took to Ford a year ago and they replaced purge valve on a recall. Light went off and car stopped shudder for a couple of months then light came back on and car shuddered again. Took back to Ford but they said it had something to do with transmission or clutch and that other Ford Focus are having this problem. They said maybe I can wait until a recall happens. Meanwhile, can't drive my car it shudders and stalls while driving and now it is parked while I continue to make payments. :(.
The issue I have is with communication from the manufacturer. Ford has complied with the law and sent me a hard copy letter in the mail. However, their online communication is not as good and is downright misleading. While logged into their website, you can access a recall portal and see if your vehicle has any open recalls. Currently, the information on this part of their website is false. As you can see from the first photo, the Ford website claims I have no open recalls. This information is not correct and is contradicted by Ford's own hard copy letter they mailed to me. In the second photo you can see that the NHTSA website also contradicts the Ford website. Considering that most people use online and digital services more frequently than physical mail, it is very importation this information is up-to-date. As I said before, Ford did comply with the law by sending me a letter in the mail. However, they failed to keep with the spirit of the law by not updating their website. This may be an attempt to purposefully mislead consumers into thinking there is nothing wrong with their vehicle. This type of incorrect information, whether done intentionally or incompetently, is dangerous to the public. Regulations should be modernized to require manufacturers to keep their digital and online information as up-to-date as their hard copy mailings. Thank you.
My car experiences stalled and dififficulty transitioning to start at stoplights. It stalls when I put gas in, as well.
My daughter has a used 2012 Ford Focus that has an outstanding recall for cpv problems. She has had two experiences where the vehicle loses power and she's unable to accelerate no matter how far she presses the gas pedal. Last week, 1/15/2019 the same issue happened on the freeway, while in motion, going approximately 65mph. Very dangerous! especially with fast moving traffic. She managed to get off the freeway and coast into a parking lot. We had the car towed to camelback Ford and we explained the situation and that after some research found there is an open recall on her car for a malfunctioning part/s that can cause the exact problems she's experiencing. They say okay, we'll get on it. Well, they called us today, 1/20/2020, a whole 5 days later, to say that she needs a new battery and other things like a wheel alignment and bearing replaced. No mention of the recall repair being done. When asked they said they couldn't repair because they were unable to replicate the problem or find a code for it. So needless to say, she's been without her car for 5 days and the recall repair wasn't even done, and they come at use for other "repairs". Right now we are more concerned for the safety aspect of the car stalling out while in motion. After chatting with a Ford customer service rep. , who by the way says repairs should be done whether the issue is detectable or not, we have to take it to a second dealer and hope they make the necessary repairs. We can do a wheel bearings and alignment once the more critical safety repairs are done.
My wife received a recall notice notice (19s22) in January 2019. Concerned, she took the vehicle in for inspection on 1/10/19 to prater Ford even though the vehicle was not experiencing any issue at the time. Prater for said nothing was wrong but insisted on reprogramming the pcm. As of recently, we are experiencing near stall during driving and trouble cranking and remaining cranked when refueling. Today (1/2/20) we tool the vehicle to prater for inspection under the recal. They confirmed the code p1450 (canister purge valve) was infact the problem related to the recal, however, they refused to perform the work because Ford denied their repair order request (#093013) citing the recall had already previously been servied. I called Ford and they confirmed. Therefore, when work wasn't needed they "serviced" the vehicle, however, when the real issue presented itself they refuse to repair the problem. We are concerned for the safety of the occupants, including our two children, as the problem can increase the risk of a crash. Also troubling, is Ford and the dealerships shady attempt to circumnavigate the recall by claiming work was done though it wasn't needed. We are hoping you can help or advise us in the matter.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at various mph the vehicle unexpectedly stalls without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer(al packer Lincoln 1550 n military trl, west palm beach, FL 33409) for partial repais. The contact was informed his vehicle was over the mileage for the completion because he exceeded 100,000 miles. The manufacturer was notified of this failure however confirmed the information the dealer stated. The contact is referencing the failure to ( NHTSA campaign number: 18v735 components fuel system, gasoline) the failure reccured. The approximate failure was 132,000. Tp.
The car stalled while driving. The engine shut off and unable to restart. Had it towed to autonation in tustin and are refusing to fix it because part of the power module is broken. They are trying to say it has been tampered with. Reprogramming the power module is part of the recall. We have been without a vehicle for 3 weeks now, as this happened on 11/22. It stopped while driving on the highway which could have caused an accident. The car is not drivable.
While in columbus, ohio, caught in heavy traffic, uphill, a red "transmission malfunction!" light went on, and the car immediately started shuddering and lurching forward. I was only going 5 - 10 mph in traffic, but the car was also shaking and when I came to a full stop the rpms would go up and down.

Car shutters and stalls. Not much power. Had tcm repaired and the dual clutch multiple times.
The family has taken all three of our Ford vehicles to the same dealership for service since we purchased them and they have not taken recall action. The Focus not only has this recall but the shudder recall, that the dealer advised that it would cost us $1,500 because the recall requires clutch replacement. We received notices for the tcm, shudder/shaft seals, and cpv with no actions taken. The family's record is that our maintenance schedule has been consistent visits with the dealer's assigned return dates and nothing less. The family should not have to pay for a recall for that kind of money. That amount should be doubled and submitted to us as a down payment on a new Ford vehicle. We are not liking what sexton Ford told us though we have been nowhere else for maintenance except them since day one! now, we are being notified of nothing being done iaw what supposed to had been done already.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus the contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph the vehicle's power steering suddenly failed. The contact was able to pull into a parking lot and park the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle remains in the parking lot and in order to move it they would need to have it towed. The contact contacted a certified mechanic who informed the contact that the repair was no longer covered under warranty and referred the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealership as of yet. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to their dealership. The contact, also, stated their vehicle was already included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that they experienced a failure when stopped at a stop sign the vehicle began to emit a fuel odor. The contact contacted the dealership (bob tomes Ford located at 950 s central expy, mckinney, TX 75070 phone number: 214-544-5000) who informed the contact that the part for the repair was not available. The manufacturer was not contacted regarding the recall. The contact stated manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The approximate failure mileage was 113,673. Gl.
After going to my Ford dealer for the last 2 recalls that effect fuel system (last one was recall #19s22) my car was ok for a few months. Now that temps have dropped below 50 the same thing is happening. When accelerating, the car shakes and sputters as it tries to go and I get about 18mpg instead of my usual 27mpg.
My purge valve is not working properly which has thrown my engine light to come on and when I put gas in it and start it up it stalls out on me.
Car suddenly loses power on the highway. Sometimes the transmission gets stuck in reverse. This has been happening for many years. The Ford service center has been unable to resolve the problem. It is my understanding there is a recall involving this. The dealer has recently provided a loaner because my car is unsafe to drive, according to the service manager. I also understand there has been a recent legal settlement regarding this in los angels and a trial is set to begin in san diego where I reside. I would like to have the problem resolved and a safe car to drive or be fairly compensated so I can purchase a new car and move on.

After being stopped at a traffic light on the highway, my vehicle began acting as if it did not want to get up to speed and would not go above 35mph without dramatically jolting forward. It did this a couple of times before swerving a bit and finally stalling completely, pressing the gas would do nothing to get the car to speed up. I did manage to get it to a side road before having it towed to the dealer.
My car turns off while driving.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that when she would fill her vehicle with fuel, the vehicle would take several minutes to start and operate. The contact also stated that while traveling at various speeds, the vehicle would stall and shut off without warning. The check engine warning light would illuminate on the vehicle. Nhtsa safety recall notice 18s32/NHTSA recall 18v-735 I tried to take my car into the local pocatello, idaho 83201 dealer courtesy Ford to get these defective parts replaced. They had my car for 5hrs, just started to reprogram the computer system and refused to replace the parts. I had approx. 1yr ago a stall problem when I was driving this car from pocatello to burley approx. 120mi. The car functioned fine on the way to burley but stalled out when driving back the 120mi from burley to pocatello. The service department at the local for dealership told me I had to bring my car in for an inspection to determine if I had a problem covered by the recall. After 5hrs of waiting and several calls to the dealership, I went and picked up my car. They said they were in the process of reprogramming my car. Why would they do this. The recall says the defective parts should be replaced and the system updated. I believe this dealership is trying to cheat me. I don't know what they did to my car. They refused to fix this.
19s22 recall. I was driving home from port huron to clinton township. My car went from 70 mph hour on the freeway to 35 mph. Absolutely no warning. I cannot accelerate more than 35 mph. The very next morning I brought my car into the Ford dealership at 9 mile in harper because the same problem had occurred months before in may. I told her that same thing happened before my car is not accelerating my rpm shot up and I cannot go anywhere so she asked me to bring it in I did I asked her about the outstanding recall on the car she told me that her guys forgot to look at it. Ford had my car for a week I lost my job and I also do lift on the side so I'm out $1200 just in the week. They called me, and said itll cost around $2k for the clutch system. That's funny because I don't use the manual side of the car but apparently it's built into the transmission. So again I asked about the recall. It clearly states on your website that if Ford has to do the recall and there's any other repairs that need to be done with for the cause of all of this that the parts and labor are free. They charged my dad's credit card $1938. 78. I asked her again but there was a recall down on the car she said OH well we did the recall and that was for the purge valve I said ok well where is that located she told me was in the engine so you didn't do the recall 1st you just went straight for the clutch? then you're telling me that had nothing to do with it well how do we know now after he took the 2000 and even admitted that you didn't do the recall 1st gear went straight to the clutch system so if you wouldn't did the recall 1st I wouldn't have been out $2000 if you just did your job. Then I pick up the car. And the same thing happened again, and the check engine light came on. So again I had to drop it off.
When you depress the accelerator peddle the rpms max out . It will studder for a few second then the rpms will plummet to zero or one. The engine stalls while in motion. While operating the vehicle on a straight flat road. The rpms are all over the engine looses power surges and cuts out. When driving up hill or an incline the engine will loose up to half its power and the car will derastically loose accelerator power. The steering is irratic . It shakes and causes the vehicle to lurch . It is unsafe to operate on public roadways. Since recall service ive had to return the car to the recall service provider. The car now has so many problems it sits in my driveway. Since October ive paid full coverage insurance for a car the Ford motor company and sub sitiary companies of that company refuse to honor their re alls and services stemming from those recalls.
After receiving the recalls serviced by mike white Ford in cda idaho. My vehicle is no. Longer safe to drive. The 2012 Ford Focus that was perfect now stalls lacks power . The safety features no longer work. The car now has steering issues . Since the recall work was done the car has sat in the driveway . It is unsafe for myself and others. When the car is in motion and you depress the gas paddle the rpms will race all the way up then plummit. While driving there is no power . When driving an incline or hill the gas paddle has to be pushed to the floor and still loses speed . The car shakes and the steering is erratic. One of the safety features in which the stereo mutes unless the seatbelts are clicked in while the car is in motion no longer works the Ford motor certified mechanics or technicians refuse to honor the. National traffic and motor vehicle safety act and the letter of recall concerning my 2012 Ford Focus that has under 60 thousand miles on the odometer.
Canister purge valve recall (cpv) and prior powertrain and pcm recall issues. History involving powertrain, pcm and cpv. Check engine light (cel) came on a few years ago and the car could not restart. Could have had an accident. Recently, in the summer 2019, cel on and gave a code about faulty catalytic converter when I spent $106 at green Ford to read and diagnosis the code. The light went on and off and on September 8, 2019, the car stalled and/or would not start back up many times when the cel was on. The car would not crank the next morning, twice, on the way to green Ford, and waiting on recall to be performed. The car has 151,000 miles and is a one owner vehicle. The powertrain, pcm and this current issue has been the only issues that seems to be connected.
Have seen 2 recalls for this vehicle involving the locks/latches,fuel problems, and steering wheel locked up twice today for no reason.
My car has, since the time I bought it, stuttered randomly when accelerating. This has caused issues where merging into traffic from a stop can be unreliable, causing me to fail to enter traffic at the expected speed and causing increased risk for a collision. I think it might be a transmission, since it feels like a gear is slipping. Eventually, through the stuttering, I will gain enough speed to where it stops being an issue. (possibly when entering the next gear).
After purchasing the car, it stared to have transmission issues. Took it to repair shop. They reworked the front end and transmission. The computers on both the front end and transmission failed to sync together. This caused a total failure of the transmission. I had the transmission replaced only to have it fail four months later. The car started to jerk, jump forward and then stopped moving. The engine was racing but the transmission did not work. I was left in the middle of a busy intersection and thankfully had people help me push it out of the road. It's back at the repair shop, again its the transmission module and transmission. !.
Ford is knowingly selling lemon transmissions and "fixing" them. When the fix isnt working then the blame is placed on consumer. This needs to stop.
