1 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/31/2018

Hello, I'm seeking help from your department as I am an owner of a Ford 2014 Focus. I've had three transmission/clutch replacements after purchasing the car brand new in 2014. Usually the car becomes unstable/jerky when driving which signalled a clutch replacement. However over the past two months after two more clutch replacements the transmission/engine ceased while driving in towson MD inner city streets. The first being exactly over two weeks ago and which a new clutch was installed. I picked up the vehicle and two days later called the delearship stating it is still not driving right. I could feel something was wrong. I noticed sudden jerks and what seemed like the transmission was wearing off again. I was informed by the service person mike mazor that this is normal and the adaptive systems will have to get used to my driving pattern and to give it 1000 miles. I expressed my concern that something needs to be done because the vehicle felt unsafe to drive. Two days later while traveling on interstate route 40, the car suddenly decelerated, made a loud roaring sound and when I pushed on the pedal it seemed as if it was on neutral and did not want to move. All I heard was the engine rerve. Extremely panicked and scared I quickly moved over to the yellow line without causing an accident or injuring myself. I had the car towed to the delearship closeby as I felt very unsafe driving any further. I was informed today by alpacker Ford that they worked on the vehicle and the engine light is no longer on, the car runs just fine. They will be doing one more test tomorrow to see if they can replicate the problem. I'm totally baffled as to how the engine light turned off or why they can't find the issue. I'm afraid this car is going to cause a terrible accident if I keep driving and and pleading help from your department to get Ford to find the fault and fix urgently.

2 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2015 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

When accelerating the transmission is stuttering, grinding and performing poorly. Ford said that this is happening because "I drive too carefully, the transmission is designed to be driven aggressively and will get stuck between gears unless you 'floor it'".

3 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 02/14/2015

This is the second time that my car accelerated on its own, once while stopped, the second time while driving. The first occurrence of occurred while stopped at 0 miles per hour at a drive-through, I had to push on the brakes harder to prevent the car from hitting the car ahead of me. A second occurrence occurred yesterday on February 14 of 2014. I was driving at 35 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone when the car automatically without warning accelerated; I had to steer the car into a snow bank and I almost hit a large tree I am very concerned about the above occurrences and I will get in touch with my Ford dealership tomorrow to see what can be done after the first incident I took the car to the Ford dealership wart was evaluated and I was advised that there is nothing wrong with the car.

5 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 12/25/2014

Traction control issue. . . . During snowstorm , trying to drive up a hill with a left hand turn , tires lost traction and car electronicly reduced rpm speed. . . Loss of speed almost sent car sideways into ditch. Had to turn around and get run at hill 4 more times. . . . Each time when traction with tires was broken . . . Rpms were droped to nothing leaving car stopped near stalling in middle of hill. Will be dealing with dealership soon. . I feel that the fix for this is going to be remove fuse for traction control. . . . . Or disable traction control system. . This car is a stick shift. . . I can see how another 120 reports on this page with auto transmissions, may be the same issue. . . . .

8 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2010 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 01/22/2014

2/21/14 to whom it may concern, my name is samuel doll and I would like to raise an awareness to an issue that is reoccurring without any permanent solution. I set out in this endeavor to get a car in 2009 and needless to say the rocky road that had lead to this point in time has been rough. The car in question is the 2010 Ford Focus that I was told, at the time, would be a suitable vehicle to fit the required modifications I’d need fully operate a motor vehicle. The modifications that were made are as follows: 1. Zero effort steering, 2. A hand control for acceleration and braking, 3. A backup steering pump in case the steering went out I would still have control of the vehicle, 4. A “v” grip handle with counterweight on the steering wheel, 5, a pedal guard over the gas pedal. Not but 6 months after the fresh install did it give me operating issues. The issue was that the stock pump is a light duty part and with the added stress of the additional backup steering pump it would make the main pump work too hard and allow air into the system. About 11 months later after this issue was “resolved” it happened again, and 2 more times after the second incident in about the same time frame of every 11 months (almost a year but never quite exact) up until just recently when the steering system failing in early January(bringing the total to 4). There was a lot of back and forth “he said, she said” in regards to the problem between Ford, drive master, and the company that had installed the modifications (mc mobility). I would like to make the appropriate people aware of the incompatibility issue so that it does not happen to any future individuals and this combination is not recommended in any future circumstances respectfully yours, samuel doll 34041 mills road north ridgeville, OH, 44039.

Rear taillight bulb blows out as if an electrical short in wiring. Bulb will look black, even the socket has black discoloration. This has been an on-going problem since we purchased car in 2009 with both the left and right rear tail lights. To date I have replaced about 15-20 bulbs to the extent I purchased two (2) boxes of bulbs a socket wrench and correct socket to keep in car to replace bulbs each time it happens.

11 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that he attempted to place a yakima bike rack on the roof of his vehicle but the front and rear clips failed to connect properly. 12 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2002 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/31/2012

The design of the cup holders in the front seat, with the big opening on the sides, is a major flaw. While making a turn, whether sharp or normal, a drink can easily tip out of the cup holder, and fall onto the ground of the car. When I made a right turn, my normal sized water bottle flew out of the cup holder, due to the opening, and started rolling around on the ground. Had I not picked up the bottle, or noticed it flew out, it could have easily become lodged between the brake and / or gad pedals and caused a major accident.

14 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2003 Ford Focus

15 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2003 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 03/15/2011

I purchased a 2003 Ford Focus in February of 2012. Immediately after purchasing it, I had to spend $700. 00 to fix the motor mounts, bearings in the front wheel, something regarding a cover for the tail pipe/muffler area, a/c, (twice repaired, and went out). Fuel pump, door jambs in front (2 door), locks on the doors would automatically lock whether you wanted them locked or not. Door on passenger side refuses to open from the outside. Spent over $4,000 in fixing, replacing, engine & body parts. Etc. Just when I bought a second set of new tires last week and did the 3 month oil change, it konked out on me, after a shrilling, high-pitched noise. Just got off the expressway. Found out from a repair shop that this model, especially the 2003 is known for transmission, shoddy parts, and is a safety hazard! the pump inside the transmission broke. This car came with 124,000 miles and over 2 years, spent $4,000. 00 on top of the used private purchase of $2,400. 00. Car repair shop wants $2,400 (what I paid for it) to put a new transmission in. One thing after the other went wrong. Iplaint sexperienced, and it has cost me so much money, I feel Ford needs to replace every penny us consumers paid on this model. Never again need to recall the whole car, it is a death trap.
