I've not had a fuel gauge since my 4th warranty repair (turbo replacement turned catastrophic and incurred warranted engine replacement as they blew it in shop and had it for almost three months) and I am not happy at all. And I am now gonna have to go back and get it fixed as this is dangerous for me. I keep a gallon of fuel I'n my car, so I'm basically huffing fumes all the dang time im in my car. . I must keep a gallon of fuel in the car due to the sudden stalls and the subsequent crank, wont start issues. Up until after my car was "repaired". . I didn't have issue until id done run out of fuel and or run out of outa fuel and stalled in most precarious places whilst in motion and driving down the road. I'd run out of fuel and my car would sputter and die. I've walked up to 12 miles to get to a gas station luckily. I am not cool with this shit cause I bought it with lil to no mileage and new off the lot. . . . Magnussen moss has a ring to it if anyone could help. . . To an erratic at best case I've been stranded with no phone, no food nor water at least three times. And they think I'm gonna bring it in for service and allow them to screw me over again? don't think I have a lot of trust for Ford no mo. . . . I hope they stop playing around with people's lives as seemingly expendables and wasting our valuable time and money. I've lost a job from it and that's no joke.

On 10/25/18. Car at dale in neutral. Heat on setting speed 2. Second setting floor dash combo. The vents on dash were hot enough to cause burns to hands if touched. Gauge for engine temp showed mid range. Check of antifreeze showed adiquite level. When car was in motion the temp was cooler but still warmer than it should be.
After filling up the tank with gas, the vehicle stutters and feels like it's jumping when I am at a stop light and start to go. The gas gauge goes up while I am driving and the vehicle runs out of gas randomly. I was parked at my house and it wouldn't crank when I ran out of gas the 1st time (about three weeks ago) and the 2nd time (6/6/2018), I was on the interstate and the vehicle died due to no gas, yet the gauge was not on empty. Fortunately I was able to get off the side of the road and call roadside assistance. The vehicle is now at at Ford service repair shop and I am waiting to hear from them but the service repairman said this is a common problem, that he had the same vehicle in the week before with this same issue. Last Friday, I had a customer service representative with a Ford dealership tell me this is a common problem that occurs in this vehicle. Obviously running out of gas randomly is very dangerous. There needs to be a recall on this immediately to save lives. Ford needs to take responsibility for this manufacturing defect.

Vehicle stalled. Tried to restart it, would not fire up. It then caught on fire on the side of the highway (I-87n, exit 17/moreau) vehicle was in good working order, no check engine light or other indication of trouble, temperature gauge never showed any problem. Not sure if this is related to other Ford engine fires (due to overheating/loss of coolant) or what exactly caused it. Insurance did not do an inspection (I owned the car outright and only had liability coverage) and Ford totally blew me off. Have pictures, but they look like any other car with an engine fire.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle was shaking violently. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact slowed down but was able to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to capital Ford services dealer (2805 e millbrook rd, raleigh, nc 27604, (877) 660-1721), where diagnostic testing determined that the failure was the clutch seal was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact also stated that while driving, the fuel gauge failed to provide the accurate reading causing the contact to run out of fuel. The contact also stated that when the vehicle was idling it would stall. In addition, the vehicle would accelerate and decelerate independently. The vehicle was taken to r d sawyer motor CO dealer (404 is-64, manteo, nc 27954, (252) 473-2141) where it was advised to keep the tank half full. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number: 17794117. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
I have a check engine light that is on found out its a evap leak gas gauge not working ran out of gas can not put gas on gas tank with a gas can if I try it pours out the bottom when I start vehicle it shudders and wants to die out on me lack of power when I press on the gas pedal and ticking sound in engine also door latch on passenger back door does not unlock unless I push the button unlock 2 or 3 times.
On long trips (over 160 miles) with consistently high speeds, the engine torque and tachometer gauge level rises/whines, indicating a shift should be made in the automatic transmission, but the automatic transmission lags behind, causing the hover/forward stall due to engine torque, much like when you increase the torque causing the engine to "roar" before shifting in a manual transmission. This usually happens while accelerating on higher speed roads and highways at higher speeds, usually 40-70 mph range and mostly when on a long trip w/o stopping, except for gas. Car is always in motion and there is no change in engine temp and no warning lights lit. This problem has occurred many times in the past 18 months. The date indicated was the most recent date.
Car stopped completely while driving on a city street. Low fuel light did not come on. Fuel gauge was showing close to empty but not all the way. Check engine light was not on. When started at garage the low fuel light came on, but would not stay running after multiple tries. I think, and the mechanic agreed, that the fuel gauge sensor is defective. I feel unsafe now when driving for extended lengths of time, and am very concerned that this might happen when on a highway at higher speeds. If the vehicle stops in traffic this could cause a serious accident or fatality.
This is the second time this issue has occurred. Last October was the first. The engine light came on and the car rpm gauge raced but there was no acceleration. The car jerks hard. First time mechanic (don chalmers capitol Ford) told me that these issues were normal, that all of these cars have shuttering issues, which to me was a frightening statement. They addressed a14m01 transmission clutch shudder and input shaft seal warrant (fsa). The total bill was $1,377. 88. This time, I was told I would be responsible for any work and diagnostics. I stated that I experienced the same exact shuttering, shifting issues and noises as the first time and was told it could be anything. I am scared to drive this car.
Every recall event for my 2013 Ford Focus, I have encountered. After a year and half of continued trips to and being without my car for service. The transmission issues still not resolved along with the electrical issues. The stereo display goes blank, at times shows incorrect date and clock jumps to different hours. The car lunges forward when you get to about 25 to 30 mph or hesitates when you excel. When you put in park it will lunge forward or act like you've popped the clutch even when brake is on. It shudders, has bump & bang noises, lunges, suspension noises. I can feel bumping/thumping under my feet when turning corners. Have had issues with the gas tank assembly and fuel system gauge (this part has been fixed) continued issues with the digital panel, intermittent erratic cluster radio, clock and sync issues that the service department cannot duplicate. When I have issues with the digital panel, I take a picture. Once I turn vehicle off and back on it sometimes clears it up. I've complained about tires noises and ride, they say tires are fine. I went to the dealership to just trade it in and the dealer suggested I contact Ford motor to have them buy it back. I have placed a complaint on the Ford website, but have yet to receive a response. I am afraid to drive this vehicle but have no other choice. Do I have to ruin my credit by just dropping my vehicle off and walking away for them to take back. Ford motor company does not make it easy to talk to someone regarding my vehicle. They should be more accessible now before something tragic happens.
May 1st: significant vibration, vehicle shutters when shifting 4th: no changes in performance. Shutter and vibration continues; no work performed. Advised all of this is a “normal characteristic” of a dual clutch transmission. 10th: significant shaking at idle continues 17th: vibration continues; transmission continues to buck and stall. Vehicle does not respond well to sudden stops… significant shuddering and rpm gauge has rapid fluctuations. Gears still making grinding noise. 18th: transmission problems felt worse than usual today. 20th: vehicle does not drive well. Transmission continues to click/pop/grind; gear changes are rough, similar to someone who cannot drive a manual transmission 24th: rough idle persists; car slow to engage in first gear; feels like it is going to stall. June 4th: rough idle continues 26th: gear changes are not smooth and in fact are quite rough; car does not function normally. No improvement whatsoever since last update. 29th: vehicle shakes badly upon start; very rough shifting; car does not feel safe July 5th: gears are not engaging properly; delayed acceleration from 0mph in drive 11th: vibration is as bad as ever; no improvement. 17th: had two cases of delayed acceleration & bucking today 19th: vehicle shuttered significantly today; rpm gauge plating continues to rattle; passenger door would not unlock with remote key; beginning of electrical problems 21st: transmission stalled upon acceleration again; substantial hesitation 22nd: loud grinding noise shifting to reverse; rpm gauge went to about 2500 26th: stalling, shuddering/bucking continues; gear changes are not smooth 28th: interior electrical problem; interior overhead lights do not illuminate nor do the a/c & radio lights; 29th: experienced a very hard jolt upon acceleration so much so that it jarred the entire car.
My radio has failed for the second time and is no longer under warranty. It was already replaced once as it went on or stayed off despite what I did. The fuel gauge sending unit also malfunctions from time to time. Because I have been unable to drive it into the dealership at the time it malfunctions they have been unable or unwilling to remedy this situation. This has been ongoing since the day I bought the vehicle. Count me in as another person who will never again risky buying an american car and certainly not a Ford.
