Was driving in good weather conditions and 2007 Ford Focus began to veer to the left and right out of control - I had no control over the steering or brakes is was as if the car went on auto pilot and started driving itself. After about twenty seconds of rocking left and right in the road the car made a sharp right and left the highway hit and flipped twice with my daughter and myself inside - fortunately we are both still alive the 2007 Ford Focus is totaled.

Failure Date: 01/08/2007

Gentlemen my problem is two fold, first I am really disappointed that the NHTSA is not provding all the information on all the complaints, recalls, and safety investigations that it use to. Now I am hoping that a rep will either write me or call me and tell me this is the way its always been. This is b. S. . . . . Mr NHTSA why isnt there a archive where we can go back 3 months, 6,12 or more. Why have you romoved this option???? it use to be there!!! now for my complaint I have a Ford Focus, 2004 and the axle just broke, 34000 miles and its at the dealer ship hopefully getting fixed, now there was no forwarning, no snap, pop, bang or anything, I backed out of a parking space and put it in drive, it moved about six feet and stopped. Now if this would have been in the middle of an intersection or trying to move out of the way of on coming traffic it could have been a bad thing, fortunatly I was in a parking lot. When I reviewed yuour entries on this matter you only have one. Give me break I want to see the history. I have been wrench pulling for a few years and there I no way in hell your going to convince me this all you have. Hell even the dealerships say its nothing out of the ordinary. Its under warrenty but the fact still ramians this should be a safety issue at the very least. Waiting to hear from you mr NHTSA.

4 Axle Assembly problem of the 2001 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 05/26/2005

I first noticed a roaring sound coming from my right front wheel about 2 weeks ago. I took my car in today to the local Ford dealership and was told that the entire right front axel assembly needs to be replaced. I asked how this could have happened and they couldn't tell me. I was told by the dealership that my car was unsafe to drive. I don't feel that this is something that just happened over the last 2 weeks nor do I think I did anything to cause something like this to happen. After reading other complaints on this site I realized it could possibly be a manufacturing defect. I called the Ford company in michigan and asked what they do about vehicles that are unsafe to drive and was basically told that there was nothing they could do. I did tell the gentleman about the complaints that I had seen on this site and again he told me there was nothing they could do. I guess if someone gets killed due to these "unsafe" vehicles then someone would do something about it which is a shame.
