Clutch pedal stuck to the floor for the second time when driving. Was driving about 46 mph and shifted to 5th gear and the clutch went half way to the floor without returning. . . Tried to press it in again and it went all the way to the floor and stayed. Had to pull over and pop car out of 5th gear and could no longer move again. Having car towed in and Ford will look at car for the second time. This was very dangerous again because cars were behind me tailgating and I could have been hit when pulling over without any power to move out of the way. Please please check into this ASAP. Countless other Focus rs owners have had the same issue!.

We purchased this vehicle as my daughters first car a year ago. It looks great but has issues. The transmission/clutch feels like it slips. The car always revs high. And you touch the gas pedal and sometimes it jolts too quickly. Today, I drove on freeway and came to a stop with red light at off ramp. Light turns green and push on gas and it shuttered and then propelled forward. Felt like it couldn't get in gear? it has done this a few times while in motion and on the freeway too, slips or sputters. I'm fearful for my young daughter being less experienced of a driver in this unsafe vehicle. I'm reading other peoples complaints, and I see many, many are having the same issues. We bought the car w 86k miles April 2017. Now has 97k. We will take the car in to our Ford dealer tomorrow.

I bought the car in Feb 27 2015. The car would shutter climbing hills and on take off. We took it to the service dept. And we were told there was nothing wrong 2 times. Finally on 09/2015 they did a software update and was told it was fixed. The problem started up again took it back in 11/15 and they replaced the clutch assembly. The problem came back again 5/2016 they did another software update. The problem persisted so they installed updated clutches and software update. The problem came back again on 12/2016 wheel speed sensor failed , they replaced the sensor and once again was told the problem was fixed. It is now 01/2016 and once again the problem is back. Took it to the service department again . The servcie tech that test drove the car with me told me yep it is shuttering again and told me to stop on the side of the road and come to a complete stop then press the gas pedal to the floor until it hits 4th gear then let up and repeat it one more time and that would clean the dust off the clutches. So one again I have an appointment to have this transmission serviced again. We have contacted Ford numerous times and the first time they were more than willing to try to fix the problem . Now when we contact them we are treated like we are making this up. We called them a week ago and a woman by the name of jennifer favata at 866-631-3788 ext 7734 was supposed to contact me within 24 hours. I still have not talked to her and I called numerous times ad left messages. Instead someone else contacted us and proceeded to tell us the shuttering was normal. When I told them this was not normal and has almost caused at least 2 accidents and I was ready to get a lawyer I was told if I got a lawyer my case would be closed.

My car has a problem with the transmission and I found out that there is a recall from the company. They have 3 recalls on the transmission: transmission control module reprogramming for overt tcm failure warning transmission clutch shudder / transmission input shaft seal warranty extension transmission control module extended warranty coverage I called them twice and they checked my VIN number and they found me eligible to get my car fixed at one of their dealers. I took my car there and the dealer refused to fix my car because my car has a branded(salvage) title. Now, if you can't build a car right, leave this business to somebody else. When you have all these failures in the transmission, this tells me the whole transmission is just a scam and it shouldn't be there. If a car got a hit in the trunk far away from the transmission and didn't even touch it, what this has to do with your mistake. Why do I have to pay for your mistake?do you even know what this transmission problem does to the car?here is what happened,I was driving my car on the freeway almost 70 miles/hour with my family and suddenly my car was not going forward and although pushing on the gas pedal, the car was not speeding. Do you realize that any car from behind could just hit me from the back because I didn't hit the brakes and no brakes lights were on nor any warning that I was slowing down. Do you know how I was terrified to go from my lane to the shoulder while losing speed and any truck or car can hit me and kill me with my family. No,you don't know because you don't care about other people's lives. If you care you won't let these cars run on the roads. 3 failures in the transmission, 2 of them will cover my salvage title and 1 won't cover it, why?? the way I see it is you messed up in the transmission and they are all connected with each other, why do you cover 2 faults and not the 3rd one?.
This vehicle has had major problems with the powershift transmission. Over the course of 107000 miles the vehicle has exhibited shudding, lurching and bad shift characteristic and frankly is extremely dangerous. It has had it's clutches cleaned at 37736 miles in oct 2014, replaced at 38396 miles in December 2014, replaced again at 75874 in February 2016 and now in January 2017 at 107,xxx the clutches again need to be replaced. Ford is now longer willing to cover the cost even though the vehicle has consistently had issues. This is a major defect and clearly the parts being used are not up to the task. When the clutching start to fail, the car lurches, shudder on acceleration, shift abnormally and has a delayed acceleration which can lead to very dangerous situations. I was recently rear ended while making a left hand turn because the vehicle would not accelerate when I pushed on the pedal (although it doesn't excuse the driver behind me carelessness).
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that there had been no failures until the vehicle was serviced for NHTSA campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages) and weeks after the dealer champion Ford Lincoln, 140 southtown blvd, owensboro, ky 42303, (270) 684-1441 serviced the recall campaign, there was an abnormal noise heard in the area of the instrument panel and the radio. In addition, the electronic function of the doors locking failed to function and the contact was uncertain if the doors may secure due to the multiple failures. The contact felt that the recall repair remedy failed to provide a permanent fix. The vehicle was not repaired yet and the dealership indicated that the vehicle would need to be diagnosed which was unacceptable to the contact. The vehicle was also included in 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) but the remedy and part was not available yet, field service action number: 14m01 transmission clutch shudder / transmission input shaft seal warranty extension and 14m02 transmission control module extended warranty coverage. The contact called to verify if those campaigns had been serviced by the dealer with the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and the contact was waiting to determine a remedy to repair the multiple failures. The approximate failure mileage was not available. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Dyd.

Takata recall I was coming up to a stop light ready to push the clutch in to slow down. I tried to push in the clutch and it was stuck. I let my foot off and tried agian. The clutch went down. I thought that was odd and dangerous. I was glad my wife wasn't driving. I wanted to pull over and see what was going on. I got in the turn lane. When I pushed the clutch in to go the clutch went to the floor and I was stuck in the turn lane. It was a busy road, but I was offered help and was able to push it through the light as it changed. I noticed that the connection from the clutch to the pedal was broken. A plastic piece had broke. The car only has 57000 miles. I feel like I was lucky nothing happened. That part should not break on a car. I want to feel safe when me or my wife are driving our vehicle.

With an automatic transmission and at slow speeds the engine stalled, and jerked especially in congested highway traffic such as stop and go speeds. After a new clutch was installed by the local Ford dealership, the engine now surges and hesitates at slow speeds and when in the passing mode at highway speeds the engine keeps accelerating even when the gas pedal is released.
At 9:30pm on may 12th 2016 I was driving on I-5 through downtown seattle going approximately 60 miles an hour in the far left lane, when the gas pedal dropped all the way to the floor and I completely lost power. I had to change across 4 lanes of traffic while my vehicle was steadily losing power to exit at mercer st. From there I barely made it to the side of the road on westlake Ave where a tow truck picked me up. Following that experience I have had to take my car to have the clutch/transmission repacked 5 times!!! each time when the clutch is starting to fail, it shudders, shakes and loses power. I am afraid of it losing power in a intersection and being t-boned by another vehicle (this has happened to other owners of these cars). Ford is responsible for fixing this, however they have not taken responsibility and here I and about 4 million other customers are left with lemons! hold Ford accountable for their faulty transmission/clutches from 2011-2016 fiesta/focuses, all I want is a dependable car that will last more than 4 years and 68,000 miles.

My 2015 Ford Focus' transmission started to "shudder" with a jerking motion when accelerating at low rpm. Also I've experienced a loss of power/delayed acceleration when I press the gas pedal, especially when going up a hill, causing the car to not accelerate for about two seconds when I need it. There was a message "transmission overheating", then "press brake pedal" when I was idling in heavy traffic on the freeway. I had the car towed to serramonte Ford where I bought it, and bill the service person told me that "Ford Focus' are supposed to shudder, but that it probably had a bad double-clutch that needed to be replaced, and that there was a 12-week back order from the manufacturer, and that they would reprogram the computer and that should help the shudder problem as a temporary fix. I had an appointment that I waited four days for, then he told me the day of the appointment that it would be 3-7 days before he could look at it. When I called bill three times 3days in a row to see if it was fixed and him ignoring the messages, he called on the 5th day saying my car was ready. I went to pick it up and he said it still might have a little bit of a shudder and that it was normal and that it was safe to drive my car. He only listed that I complained of a shudder on the work order, never put down that any repair parts were ordered or on back order, and made it look like there was only an inspection along with an oil change. I drove my shuddering car home, perturbed at they're inadequacy. I received an e-survey from the dealership and I gave them the poor grade that was warranted. Within 30 minutes, service director henry called saying he'd have the clutch in only 8 weeks to appease me, but that I'd have to keep calling for updates. I don't feel safe driving it, fearful of it stalling when I need power critically. Faulty car that needs recall among many Focuses.
