Tl-the contact owns 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50-65 mpg, without warning the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the purge solenoid was seized opened or closed which caused the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the vehicle experienced a shudder in the transmission and hard shift between gears while the vehicle was being driven. The contact also stated that intermittently the vehicle failed to shift to reverse after the clutch was replaced. The failure to shift to reverse was a new symptom which occurred only after the clutch was replaced. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted and informed of the failure. A few weeks after I had gotten my car on may 12th 2018 I noticed grinding, jerking, felt almost as if it were tryong to stall and that there was alot of play in the transmission when rotating tires, I took the car to the wlford dealership in sikeston missouri they claim that they didnt not hear, see, or feel anything. But did not put the car on the rack or anything they just drove it around the block. They threw a fit about giving me a loaner and were doing there best to prevent any work being done on the car. They claim that this was normal I done some research and others have had problems with this pos powershift automatic transmission. Well its now 4 months down the road and the car is only getting worse it is jerking bad, grinding, clinking, clacking, poor throttle response, barely able to get up a hill, the wholse transmission is t. These cars are mad cheap and sold at an overpriced amount, I will not be buying anything from Ford again. But for how much I paid, there will be a new transmission or someone giving a new car if this t keeps up. 2018 Ford Focus worst pos on this planet do not buy it. Who was the dumb to even think that a couple of solenoids and a computer could control a manual transmission in an automatic gearbox???? its not powershift either cause this car has no power whatsoever it feels like it has 50hp and 2lbs tq. 3rd gear is the only get up and go gear all the other ones are sluggish an you have to put the pedal almost all the way to the floor just to go anywhere.

Only 3 out of 4 doors open, the outside door latches have failed since purchase in 2013. Have also continually failed/re-broke after being fixed. Car also does not unlock after being locked and inside door mechanisms do not unlock after being engaged. . Huge safety issue. Also multiple times the a solenoid has to be replaced due to the car does not shift correctly and fails to accelerate safely (takes a over a min to go from 35-60) and even then it will not maintain 60 miles per hour going up a hill . This is a automatic vehicle , and it is unsafe , especially when exiting off a onramp trying to excel to posted speed limit to merge into traffic off the ramp. I have had multiple problems/issues with this vehicle since its purchase and it is a very unsafe vehicle.

Transmission started slipping at around 80,000 miles to the point where 2nd and 3rd gear were nearly non existent. When od light started blinking autozone told me that solenoids/transmission were shot. After replacing the solenoids as well as the transmission itself with an identical transmission from an identical vehicle, it is apparent that these transmissions are indeed faulty. It is still slipping and slamming into gear. Overdrive rarely functions properly and tends to shut itself off.

The mileage on the vehicle was at 83,000 miles, at the time the issues began. When the car attempted to accelerate from a stopped position, the 1-2 gears started slipping, check engine and wrench light appeared. Took it to a mechanic, diagnostics test stated that it was a "shift solenoid d closed" had my mechanic replace it, it still did not work. I spent 400 bucks to replace the d solenoid, and the car is still in the same condition! I have seen countless complaints on this issue online, why hasn't there been a recall?! had I known the 2008 Ford Focus sucked this bad, I never would have bought it!.

Bought the car for my mother it had 91,000 miles on it and ran fine. It now has 106,000 miles on it and the automatic transmission has failed with a broken intermediate band, looked up the problem and found lots of complaints about the same problem again and again. It will show up as a shift solenoid "d" problem but if you fix it, it will not help. The band is broken and must be replaced. Car would not shift smoothly from 2 - 4 gear.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the transmission would not shift into second or third gear. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who inspected the failure and advised that the shift solenoid and transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure who informed her to bring the vehicle in and they will perform a full diagnostic test at her expense. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 43,000.
Automatic transmission was in drive and under way when rpms raced up. It seemed to be out of gear. Transmission indicated it was in drive. I thought that the od gear had malfunctioned. After disengaging the od the vehicle seemed to be locked in 2nd gear (as engine rpm & sound indicated). After taking it to the repair shop it was determined the shift solenoids were ok & it required the transmission to be torn apart for inspection. Mazda provides the automatic to Ford. The transmission should not fail at this mileage. According to the repair shop it was the 4th low mileage vehicle in a week requiring a complete rebuild of the transmission.
O/d light came on. Automotive shop ran a test and retrieved code p0767. Shop replaced the solenoid and car would still not shift into 2nd gear. Shop wanted to replace the transmission but I declined as the car only had 52,000 miles. Took the car to a Ford dealership and they said there was no 2nd or 4th gear. Dealership said it was a possible broken band or failed band apply piston. They removed the pan and verified broken band. They replaced the 2-4 band and installed new band apply piston at a cost of $931. 22 plus the cost of a rental car at $101. 16. No car should have a transmission fail at 50,000 miles. I feel there was a defect in the parts used in the transmission. When I asked about installing a new transmission, I was concerned that they would install the same transmission that failed in my car. The shop said not to worry because the transmission has all updated parts! the response leads me to believe that the parts in my transmission were defective and I should be reimbursed the cost of my repairs. I called Ford motor company and since there was not a recall they could not help me. Again, no car should have a transmission fail at 50,000 miles.
The transmission was slipping,hard shifting, and not going into 4th. The car had less than 70 thousand miles. Took it to repair shop and was told that it was a solenoid. Also was told that it was a common occurrence in my type of vehicle. It may or may not fix the problem completely. When I questioned why he said that many of the Focus transmissions have solenoid problems until they need to be replaced. I went online and did some searching and found that there are many people who have had the same problems with the same year and make of my car. When I contacted Ford they said that they did not see these problems very often. When I approached them with the discussion boards that I had read and the comments from my trusted mechanic they had no comment. My car does work now after the solenoid was replaced, but it still slips and shifts hard from 1st to 2nd. I am disappointed that Ford will not admit to a problem with the mechanics of this transmission.
