I was driving down the road at 55 mph and all of a sudden lose power steering. I have checked all fuses, wires, and had hooked to a computer and still can not find out what is going on.
While driving down the interstate my car gave me an alarm saying I needed to have my power steering serviced now. I lost power steering. Took it in to dealer who ran diagnostics. They said it took them awhile to get anything to register and did say it was a steering rack but then it disappeared and the power steering worked again. They told me it could happen again. Yesterday when driving on interstate again, same exact thing happened, alarms went off and my power steering is out again. I see issues related to the power steering and articles say the 2010 Ford Fusion is one of the, yet it wasn't recalled! I'll be calling the Ford dealer again, but I won't pay what they tell me to fix replace this.
While driving my power steering assist failure light came on and I lost my power steering.
Intermittently while driving - the battery indicator will come on and I will subsequently lose power steering. If I power off the vehicle, the indicator goes away and power steering returns the next time I turn it on. The issue will resurface, and it is now happening more frequently. This is the same issue that caused a recall in the 2011 and 2012 models, however, my model is the 2010.
As I was dringing at 45 mph the service power steering light came on and service advanctrac also came on. I lost all power steering and had to pull into a parking lot. I got it back home , driving at a slower speed.
While driving with my family , moving about 50 mph the check power steering and service advanctrax came over the instrument panel. I then lost all power steering. I was able to safely get it to the side of the road. I am not able to get it repaired due to cost. 12/10/17. 85,000 miles.
Takata recall, I have a 2010 Ford Fusion. I have only 62,000 miles on my vehicle. I left work was crossing a busy bridge and lost my power steering and advanced tracking at the same time. As I was turning left onto the bridge in traffic I lost control and almost went into the side of another vehicle. I began getting service power steering and service advance tracking alerts. I have researched this since it happened November 28th 2017. I find there was a recall for the year after 2011. I can not believe my safety was in jeopardy and I am responsible for paying for a defect that has affected many vehicles of the same year. I need help.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving various speeds, the power steering assist warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle lost power steering ability. The contact called payne weslaco Ford at 956-619-6026 and was informed to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 144,000.
Advancetrac and power steering assist fault errors come up in the message center. Also lost power steering and I now have to manually steer vehicle. The vehicle was in the stationary position and came on when I started the car. The error message has not gone with shutting off and restarting the vehicle.
My vehicle lost power steering. First, I was in a parking lot. I started the vehicle, placed it in reverse, and begin to back out of my spot when the wheel felt heavy all the sudden and the chimes started going off. In my message center it said "power steering assist fault". I turned the car off and back on and it seemed to resolve the issue; however, I took it to the dealer to get it serviced anyways. The dealer said they were unable to diagnose an issue charged me $130 and sent me on my way. Just 5 days later, with my daughter in the car, my steering failed again. This time while driving in the middle of town on a busy street and at the exact moment that I was turning into an entrance to our dentist office! I managed to not cause an accident, again stopped the car and turned it off and again restarted it. As before, the steering seems to have reset itself. I'm seeing a large volume of complaints about this exact issue online and it seems a recall was done for newer models, but not for 2010. This is unsafe.
While driving on the freeway at freeway speeds warning light started flashing stating, "power steering assist fault" and "service advancetrac" I then immediately lost power steering and luckily was going straight so muscling the steering wasn't overly difficult. Got off the freeway and restarted the car and the power steering returned. 5 days later while driving slowly the same thing happened but now restarting the car doesn't get the problem to go away. Power steering isn't working on the car at all. When I start the car the info screen reads: power steering assist faults appears. It is extremely difficult to turn the wheel, then an alarm sounds and the indicator light for service advancetrac appears and steering gets slightly easier but power steering is still not functioning. Very difficult and dangerous to drive the car now but I have to get to work and don't have the money to get it fixed.
My Ford Fusion lost power steering while driving with my kids at 45 mph on a city street. Luckily no cars were around me and I was able to maneuver to safety. I turned the car off, back on, still no power steering. Received warning for advance track and service power sterling now. Checked electrical connections and cleaned battery without any luck. Discovered there needs to be an entire replacement of the epas system on my car. This has been recalled for the years 2011 and 2012 however not for 2010, which is the first year this system was installed. Issue occurred at 85,000 miles. Found out that the repairs on my car will cost between $1800 to $2000 dollars. This appears to be a known issue as the other recalls have been placed, but Ford is neglecting the year in which the system was first installed, putting myself, my children, and others at risk.
Driving down the expressway, we got a message saying to service power steering now. Shortly after we lost power steering on the vehicle. We had a hard time getting it over to the other side of the expressway because of traffic. We almost got into an accident.
Tire sensor came on saying that the tire pressure was low so I immediately pulled into a gas station to check the air pressure. As soon as I pulled in I lost the power steering and the sensor came on about the power steering. I was still in motion when I lost the power steering.
Lost power steering upon entering our neighborhood. We almost ran a mailbox over and some kids in the yard. After searching the issue online there are lots of complaints on this issue over multiple tears and vehicles all with the same road system. Something needs done and it shouldn't take people dying! they just got off the turnpike. . . What if it would've happened then?.
Vehicle lost power steering while driving out of a parking lot. Turning slightly to enter traffic and the wheel stopped turning. Information on dash panel appeared after loss of control. The vehicle hit the curb and came to a stop. Thankfully I was not yet getting on the interstate on ramp. Vehicle says power steering assist failure and service advancetrac, this could have been much worse.
Driving down the street when we lost all power steering almost hitting car by not been able to turn.
2010 Ford Fusion se. I lost power steering assist while driving. After pulling over I restarted the car but the issue remained I now only have manual steering. My wife and I stopped by the dealer we were told that Ford does not have any recalls listed for our model . But after researching I see that 2011 and up have been recalled for the electronic assist power steering.
Steering rack makes a grinding noise and will intermittently lose power steering. Does it parked or while driving. Noise is when turning the steering wheel.
Power steering assist fault light came on and lost all power steering backing up.
Power steering failure light turned on and lost power steering while backing out of driveway. Turned vehicle off and issue resolved.
While getting onto the highway "service power steering now" came up on the display. The car lost all power steering. Thankfully I was able to muscle the car off the highway. The wheel jerked to the left when the power steering went out. This is hazardous and could cause wrecks. For a little research I see that I am not the only person to have this happen to them.
While driving in town all the sudden my service advancetrac and power steering warning lights come on. The power steering was still working I was on the way out of town so I stopped shut my car down and restarted and got the error service advancetrac and service power steering now warning lights and lost power steering. Lucky at this time I was driving and not either of my teenage sons. Not sure why these go out unexpectedly with no warning but seeing that there are literally thousands of complaints with this happening yet the recall starts in 2011 to fix this?.
Daughter was driving 2010 Ford Fusion to school when she unexectedly lost power steering. Fortunately, she was albe to safely park the car. When I went to get the car it was displaying both a "service advancetrac" and a "service power steering now" warning.
My wife was driving her 2010 Ford Fusion when she hit a pot hole which caused the power steering assist module to stop working. She in turn lost all power steering and almost lost control of the vehicle.
Takata recall in a period of 30 days I lost power steering control twice while operating the vehicle. On both occassions I pulled over and turned the car off and on and the power steering continue working. Due to the harzard and safety issues of this faulty power steering pump, I took the vehicle to my Ford local dealership. They said that they would fix it and needed to replace the entire power steering assembly, cost was over $1,600. 00 dollars. The same day I found out that there is a recall for the same model but 1 year newer. I contacted Ford and they refused to replace it because my manufacture date did not correspond to the current open recall # 15s18. The car is running fine right now but as you can understand this is a faulty power steering issues and I dont feel safe driving this car like this.
Driving car then lost power steering, able to pull to the side of the road. Power steering assist fault light comes on, also advancetrac service light and abs light. This was a very dangerous condition. Car has approximately 70k miles. Took car to the mechanic he said it needs a new rack. This is a very expensive repair and really not acceptable in a car this age and condition. My mechanic cannot determine the abs problem till the rack is replaced. It seems a major design flaw that these components are all controlled electrically. Seems there was a recall on the 2011 and 2012 models. 2010 needs a recall also. This is a very dangerous condition that happens with no warning. About 6 months ago had to have the motor mounts replaced(controlled by hydraulics). Passenger side air bag not functioning, the list goes on. Don't have an invoice yet as car is till in the shop. I will be reaching out to Ford, but I don't expect a resolution.
Power steering assist fault appeared on dash and then car lost power steering.
While stationary, the vehicle lost all power steering. The steering rack was replaced 1 month ago for this same issue. Well, the problem came back. It appears to be a well known issue with other Fusion owners. There is a recall with 2011-2012, but not with 2010 which uses the exact same steering rack. This is a major safety concern that needs to be addressed. Car is almost impossible to drive without power steering. Do a few people need to die in wrecks for this to be added to the recall?.
We were driving to pick up our daughter when the service power steering now and service advancetrac came on the message board. We lost power steering to the car. Luckily my mom's house wasn't far from our house. We got home safe and called the next day about repairs and found out it was over $1500. That is something we can't afford with a family. Come to find out many people have this problem with the same make and model and have gotten it fixed but the problem keeps reoccurring. This is very disappointing to hear about this car. This was my wife's dream car and now we find out its not as safe as Ford claims it is.
I was turning left at a major intersection and all of sudden I lost power steering. On my message screen the words popped up "service power steering now" then another message popped up regarding traction control. I almost collided with another vehicle. I was able to muscle the car to the right and avoid the collision. If my wife was driving, she would have hit the other vehicle. This is very much a safety issue. When I heard the repair costs to get it fixed, I cannot afford to have it fixed and now I am making payments on a vehicle I cannot drive due to this safety issue.
My 2010 Ford Fusion se power steering assist fault notification has been coming on for about 3 years off and on. Every mechanic I speak to is telling me to reset it and I should be ok. So I've done that several times and that doesn't seem to help because it never worked. Once day I was on my way to work in July of 2018 and I lost power steering while driving on the highway and I could've been in a terrible accident but luckily I was able to manually steer the wheel to get me to my job. My husband had to come to my job to pick the car up and take it home. The car is non operable because of this. We bought this car February 15th, 2015 and all around it was a great car but we are slowly finding out that this car was not properly built correctly and this is very concerning because this is a family vehicle that was once noted as a safe passenger vehicle and it's rxactly the opposite. I'm so frustrated because every auto shop is telling my husband and I that it'll cost approximately $1900+ to fix!! this is absolutely insane because there's no way that this eps- electronic power steering rack and pinion should be out on this car!! I've had cars from beginning to end and that was never an issue. However I've seen numerous complaints about this defect and this needs to be fixed!! all Ford Fusions from 2010+ needs to be fixed because this is dangerous and not safe!.
I was driving on interstate 77 south just before edens fork exit , charleston wv 25312. The road was downhill and curved to the left. Without any sign of trouble the steering wheel jerked to the right I had temporarily lost control of vehicle which made the car swerve off road and headed toward concrete drainage ditch and off interstate into the woods. I was lucky I got both hands on steering wheel and having lost the power steering was driving manually so to speak was able to get car turned partially sideways and slid in the gravel into the concrete drainage ditch which was well enough beveled to allow me to slowly slide into the ditch, where my car came to a stop. I was traveling in the right cruising lane so nothing was to my right. Had I been in the passing lane and passing traffic I would have ended up causing an accident, no doubt in my mind. I have found out that there has been a recall of the 2011-12 Ford Fusions because of the failure of the electric motor that were placed into those Fusions to power assist the steering. I have since learned that some if not all of the 2010 Ford Fusions have the same steering mechanism as the 2011 and 2012 Ford Fusions. I do know that if you order the complete rack and pinion unit for 2010 Ford Fusion it is the same replacement as the 2011 and 2012 uses. So I would like to file my own complaint about my experience with the power assist steering mechanism on my 2010 Ford Fusion. I think the 2010 Ford Fusion should included on the recall. I could have very easily been involved in a serious single or multiple car accident. I am old enough to have driven vehicles that didn't have power steering and that helped me also in avoiding an accident. I was driving my daughters 2010 Ford Fusion when it happened. I am not sure if she could have avoided an accident if she had been driving it.
While driving straight on the street the service power steering soon message came on the dash display then the service stable trac message came on the not 10 minutes later the car lost all power steering and messaged changed to service power steering now. Car was almost impossible to control and I had to pull over for safety reasons.
While driving straight on a highway the service power steering soon message came on the dash display then the service stable trac message came on the not 10 minutes later the car lost all power steering and messaged changed to service power steering now. Car was almost impossible to control while I drove it back to my house.
