The anti-lock brake system (abs) malfunctioned causing the brakes to give out while I was driving the vehicle. Luckily I was on a residential street and I was able to safely pull over, but it could have caused a major accident had it not happened in that location. After taking it to two auto-shops, both concluded that it was a problem with the abs system. There is an open recall for the 2010 Ford Fusion for the same exact issue (recall number: 19s54), however it does not cover the hybrid model, even though it is the same exact issue. In order to stop the vehicle, I need to press down on the brake pedal very very hard and use the emergency brake. It is not safe to drive, and it is a substantial and costly problem with the vehicle to repair. I would like my car to be part of that recall program, or at least be able to be recalled for this issue in which there is already an open recall, except not for my specific variety of the 2010 Ford Fusion. I have had to get my car towed several times in order to transport it, as again, it is not safe to drive!.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle was shaking abnormally. The contact depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle shook more violently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the passenger’s side front caliper needed to be replaced, and that the brake fluid needed to be flushed and refilled. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the mechanic was not able to get pressure in the brake lines and that hcu needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
When trying to stop , even applying pressure to the brake pedal, takes a while to stop! contacted Ford before filing this report and searching in internet for recalls on the brake system, there was a report by cr, that on Ford Fusion model and few other mothers, Ford has recalled about 600000 cars, but didn't provide me with a recall code for a faulty brake system valve that doesn't function properly! summary Ford motor company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury milan, Lincoln zephyr and mkz vehicles. The valves within the abs hydraulic control units (hcu) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly. But evidently it doesn't cover 2010 models, perhaps somebody should look into it, since the whole system is faulty. Thank you.
Couldn't move steering wheel all of a sudden, drove to store and when I got back in my car, I couldn't turn the wheel and had to get it towed. Nothing happened or changed on the way to the store. When car was first bought, steering would lock up while driving on highway and almost caused accidents multiple times.
Brakes are spongy and need to be pumped to stop vehicle in a timely manner. Brake fluid flush, brake pads and rotors did not solve the problem. The 2010 Ford Fusion se has a recall dealing with a similar issue, but my specific VIN is not a part of the mass recall. No warning lamps or messages came on, but the brake pedal almost goes all the way to the floor to stop the vehicle. My safety and another cars safety were at risk because my brakes do not respond quickly enough to come to a complete stop if someone drives out in front of me or if I am simply coming to a stop at a red light or parking. I will be taking my car to the nearest Ford dealership in the next 2 days to have the braking system inspected and confirmed.
There is a recall for 2010 Ford Fusion for the abs hydraulic control unit release date December 18, 2019 NHTSA campaign number 19v904000 I found this recall after my 2010 Ford Fusion experienced brake pedal to floor with almost no stopping power. I called the local dealership vogler Ford of carbondale IL and they told me my VIN # is not part of this recall even though im experiencing the exact reason the recall was issued. Ford motor company of dearborn they were of no help and was told to contact NHTSA the vehicle is still having the same braking issues.
When stepping on the brake pedal, it goes all the way to the floor. I have to pump the brake and then sometimes, it will stop. There were no warning lights. The brakes were replaced but the problem still happened. I had my car towed to the closest Ford dealership. They replaced the master cylinder and it still happened. They have now replaced the hcu. My VIN number was not included in the recall NHTSA campaign #19v904000 which was for exactly what was happening with my car.
Applying brakes on wet pavement. Abs brakes failed. Brake peddle went to floorboard. Braking over uneven surfaces, suchas a speed bump, will also cause abs to fail, with brake peddle going to the floorboard.
My brakes failed but I had them changed twice and that wasn’t the problem I had the cylinder change and still no brakes when I bought it it had some issues with the brakes going to the floor.
Lug nuts are all stripped or broken. Check engine light, check fuel fill inlet message, poor driving all around, lack of power. Brake calipers broke off and brake pads fell out. Power steering locks up every once in a while.
The brakes on my 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid, occasionally stop working, and the brake pedal, has to be pushed harder and further than usual for the brakes to engage. This creates an extremely dangerous situation for anyone driving the vehicle, and any other vehicles sharing the roadway near my vehicle. The vehicle was not involved in an accident, but very easily could’ve been. After the first time this happened, I replaced the brakes on my vehicle, however, that did not fix the issue. Upon further research, I found there was a Ford safety recall (19s54) on 2010 Ford Fusions for this very issue. The problem I am having, is caused by a valve within the brake system's hydraulic control unit sticking open, forcing the driver to push the brake harder and further than usual for the brakes to engage. Ford recalled more than 600,000 Ford Fusion, Mercury milan, and Lincoln mkz sedans from the 2006 through 2010 model years for the previously mentioned problem under Ford safety recall number 19s54. My vehicle is having the exact issues addressed in Ford safety recall 19s54. For whatever reason, my Ford Fusion is not listed as an eligible vehicle to be fixed under Ford safety. Recall 19s54 even though it falls within the make model and year of vehicles affected under the recall. I’m assuming my vehicle isn’t eligible simply because it may have been manufactured in a different plant than the one listed on the recall? however, I am experiencing the exact same, extremely dangerous, safety issue documented in the recall, and my vehicle otherwise fits within the parameters. This issue has created an extremely dangerous situation for my family, and others on the roadway. I would appreciate your help in getting the issue fixed under Ford safety recall 19s54. I already spoke to Ford customer service, and the representative stated they couldn’t do anything unless NHTSA advised them the issue needed to be taken care of. Thank you for your time and consideration!.
Abs module is not working. This is happening to not jusy my vehiclehowever many as I can see online and when Ford is told something is wrong with it they say its not on the recall list. This is very dangerous as I almost got ibto a very bad accident because the brakes went to being ok to spongy and had to push to the floor to stop this car. Someone needs to fix this or it will end in someone getting seriously hurt or dying because of this situation.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after having the vehicle state inspected, he was informed that the state inspector was able to depress the brake pedal all the way to the floorboard, and as such, the vehicle failed the state inspection. The abs warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the abs module. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 173,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid. The contact stated while driving 20 mph the vehicle loss all braking power. The contact stated he depressed the brakes and was able to obtain some braking power. The contact stated all the lights on the dash board was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who topped off the brake fluid and informed the contact to return in a week. The contact returned to the mechanic and the brake fluid was still full, however the failure recurred. The contact referenced Ford TSB 09-22-11 brake controller as a possible solution. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA hotline a case was opened with the manufacturer, case number cxh01789657. The failure mileage was approximately 110,00.
The Fusion has been worked on twice now replacing cylinders, however it was recently discovered that the issue is with the abs hydraulic control unit. The car's pedal would push almost to the floor making the stopping power hazardous out of nowhere. After research on this unit, it appears it was a recall for many Fusions but not specifically for this mode. I am filing a complaint as it appears our specific model has the same issue but is not covered under the recall. We have spent over $1000 to get this replaced and seeking a refund.
Advance trac light and brake light came on without any notice and lost ability to brake. Was able to use parking brake to avoid any collisions. There have been 0 issues before this that would have given me any advanced notice of this. After a google search I found that this is apparently a known and fairly common issue with these cars.
As I was driving the vehicle, my abs and all other brake service lights came on. I stopped driving the car except to take it to the dealership to be assessed and repaired. I had to have a new hcu and abs module installed as well as brake fluid flush. After driving it off the lot I realized I had to push the brakes all the way to floor and it was still slow to stop. I took it back to the dealership and they bled the brakes again. It still doesn't brake as well as it did before incident. I had these repairs performed in Jan 2024 and recently found out that in April 2021 there was a recall for this same exact problem. I was never notified by mail as I usually am for recalls. I paid for these repairs out of pocket and believe this should have been covered under the recall from 2021. I feel this could've turned out much worse if I had continued driving the car. I would like this to be further investigated as to whether this falls under the recall.
The contact owns a 210 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that brake pedal would depress to the floorboard before the vehicle would come to a complete stop. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where a code reader determined a defect with the abs system. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure and was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
There was no incident this happened after. It literally just started a couple months ago out of nowhere. I tried to diagnose it myself. But the code was b-1342-e0 which is an ecu fault. I paid for a diagnostic to find out it was actually the abs module sending the fault code to ecu. After some research, it appears 2010 Fusions had a history of this abs issue. Not sure why there is no recall, seeing as this could be a life threatening issue.
Never had issues with my car since I had it. But over the past year the cars brakes, if you keep your foot on the pedal, over time it will slowly go closer to the floor. I could stop, but the brakes felt squishy. Biggest problem though is my brakes were working fine, no warning lights, nothing. . Park car turn it off, go into store, come back out and my brakes are not working. The pedal goes right to floor. I had to use my emergency brake to stop. I took car to shop and they said the abs control module needs replaced. This is a common issue with the 2010 Ford Fusion hybrids. . But there doesnt seem to be a recall on it. He even said when he checked the information there is a recall on that abs control unit, but when you call Ford, they say my particular VIN number is not covered. This is nonsense, because I am having the same identical issue with the other Ford Fusion and cars that have this same exact part in it. When I went to go pick up my car, now the brakes are working. It makes no sense. Will they go out again on me at any given time? this is a major concern and danger to me and those around me if they go out while I am driving. Please make Ford include this VIN number make and model be recalled for the repair. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 60 mph and attempting to slow down, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle rolled before coming to a stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed abs module. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The contact referenced the NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The approximate failure mileage was 129,000.
Brakes lose power --- depress all the way and there's no braking power. Almost got into a serious car crash since I literally could not stop (except for using the ebrake). Check engine light is on. This seems to be an incredibly common and dangerous issue with the older Ford Fusions (I have a 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid). Only 105k miles. Dealer recommends replacing abs module (among other things).
After the anti-lock braking system (abs) was engaged, the braking system was spongy, in that the pedal would almost reach the floor before the brakes started working. It has happened several times, but has gotten worse recently, three times in the past six months. One time it happened when I went over a speed bump. I have to be extremely careful when this happens. Once the vehicle sits overnight it seems to clear up. I try not to use the abs, but it is winter now and this morning someone pulled out in front of me, and I had to use the brakes aggressively. Again, the braking system became spongy. I am hoping by the end of work today it has been remedied for now. After it happens, I am extremely careful about following other cars, for fear of hitting them. It takes longer to stop because of this. I bought the car through the military overseas program and finding somebody to look at an american car in korea has been hard. Something is wrong with the abs.
Hi. I’m the owner of 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid. VIN: 3fadp0l38ar277828 recently, I almost got crushed while I was driving, because I suddenly could not use brakes…this is happened because of the known abs issue with this car (I called my mechanic, he diagnosed the issue and it is with abs module and it is under a recall and should be fixed by a dealer). However, when I got my car to the dealership, I was surprised that it is not a recall for a hybrid version of Ford Fusion my year and I have to pay from my own pocket almost $5,000 for part and labor. I do not understand why, it is unfair. This is the known issue for a very long time for so many people. It should be recalled and fixed. You can die while you’re driving!!! here is one of the topics on a forum about this issue: https://fordfusionhybridforum. . Read more...
The brakes are acting in the same manner described in the previous recall issued by this agency. My vehicle was manufactured at the same plant as the previous recall for the same problem. I am at a loss as too what it will take? will it take more loss of life? get off your ass and do something!! thousands of people are experiencing the same problem open your eyes and do something!.
Brakes have same systems as discribed in 19s54 recall but my vehicle is not listed as needing that recall!.
Brake pedal randomly drops to floor, spongy brakes. Took to local dealer. My VIN number is not part of recall. No parts are available.
The vehicle loses all brakes while driving. With multiple warning lights coming on to include brake light, traction control. The problems completely match Ford's current recall number 19s54 which this vehicle was not included in. This issue is intermittent.
I was driving the vehicle and it started beeping. I looked at the dashboard and multiple lights in relation to the brakes were on or flashing such as the brake light, abs, service advancetrac, traction control etc. The main issue was I was driving and the vehicle had some sort of glitch and all the lights for the brake system came on the and vehicles brakes did not work. The brake was soft and if depressed it went down to the floor. Luckily no cars were ahead of me and I was able to pull the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. After researching this, this was an issue for these model vehicles, but I thought this was addressed on my particular vehicle. This is a common issue with these cars and has happened to many of the vehicles as reported on various consumer report and the NHTSA. This issue is documented in the TSB-09-22-11 as well as 19s54 recall. I shut the car off and turned it back on and the lights went away and it worked. Car was towed the dealer and they were unsure and I also reached out to Ford motor CO but they were unwilling to help.
Brakes failing brakes not yet no no going over bumps the abs got actuated and the brake pedal went to the floor, was mushy. There is a recall but our car does not fall under the dates. Our car manufactured 05/10.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the brakes became inoperable. The brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
The component that has failed is the abs antilock brake pump. Many Ford Fusions of the same year (2010) have a recall for this. However, according to my VIN, there is no recall. The antilock brake system completely locked up while driving there were no prior incidents. No brake lights no inclination that the antilock brake pump had any issues. When the antilock brake pump stopped working, it almost caused a serious accident. It was as if, though we were hydroplaning we had no control over the car. Thankfully, no one was hurt and the car went directly into a field. There was myself, my daughter, my son, and a friend four week old baby in the car!! my son is still having nightmares even though this happened a couple weeks ago! he is autistic and eight years old. This is extremely scary. I had absolutely no control over the car the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. The problem has been reported to the dealer however, even though I have a 2010 it is not reported for a recall. The vehicle component has been inspected by a licensed mechanic. There were no previous morning signs no dash lights no issue with the abs system at all. The car has been maintained regularly. The car has not been fixed because we didn’t know what the problem was until last week.
Abs advancetrac system failure results in extended brake pedal travel required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The condition does not result in a loss of braking function and the vehicle can be brought to a controlled stop.
Hit pot hole and the brake peddle went most of the way to the floor and never changed. It now has a very low peddle. No brake fluid leaks.
The brakes quit working without warning. My foot went straight to the floor before engaging any sort of resistance and the emergency brake was needed to bring the car to a complete stop. I’ve checked the VIN lookup, and there is a recall for this exact same car, same year and everything, but for some reason my VIN isn’t pulling it up. . It matches the recall currently in file for the 2010 Ford Fusion brake problems. How do we get Ford to expand their recall to actually include all defective vehicles??.
