I recently bought a 2010 Ford Fusion with 45000. 00 miles on it. After having owned it for only about 2. 5 months I am having problems. While driving down a 4 lane highway at 55 miles per hour it it almost stops in the middle of the highway and will not accelerate. It does this with no warning. I am able to pull over to the shoulder and the car begins to shake as I come to a complete stop. Once I turn the car off the wrench light goes out I am able to start it back up. It has happened several more times. Today it happened in the middle of a busy intersection. The Ford dealership in my area when I called said it would be hard to diagnose because the problem is intermittent. By reading the complaints from everyone on the 2010 Ford Fusion this a common problem with this model. The issue seems to be the throttle body. My fear is that someone will slam into my car not realizing it has stopped in the road. I really think it is a safety issue and cannot believe with being such a wide spread problem Ford has not done something to correct it before someone is injured from what appears to be a defective part they have put on their cars.
While driving my car on the expressway the wrench light turned on followed by the check engine light. The car started reducing speed even though I was pressing the gas. I pulled over to the side and the car started shaking. I had an obd ii machine in my car at the time and ran a diagnostic. Check engine code p2111 came up. After researching the code it says it has to do with the throttle body. I also noticed that there are so many discussion forums out there with people who are having the same issue.
Driving down the road at 45mph and the car starts vibrating. All of a sudden I lose acceleration while my foot is still on the gas. Luckily I was able to pull over before the car lost momentum and stalled out. The wrench light was on. Had no warning at all. I shut the car off, waited about 2-3 minutes and tried to start it again. It turned over but after it struggled to. The wrench light then went off. This has happened four more times! each with no warning! I have looked on a number of sited that have the same complaint about this. There are hundreds of near crash cases and all with no warning. I love how this website says "your complaint information will be entered into NHTSA-odi's vehicle owner's complaint database and used with other complaints to determine if a safety-related defect trend exists" after numerous complaints and an obvious faulty part you still haven't seen a trend? are you kidding me?! today I just missed getting into an accident as the car decided to lose acceleration again as I was pulling out to make a turn across 4 lanes. The lanes were clear to go but oncoming traffic was coming. I was lucky that the person saw my flashers and had the room to move over and get out of the way. Apparently Ford wants a lawsuit on their hands because as soon as someone gets into an accident(if they have not already) you better bet they'll go after Ford. Especially since it is apparent that Ford has been made aware of this problem and still will not take responsibility for the fact something is wrong. You better believe that if I get hit because there product was not recalled because of a faulty part I'll be front and center with my lawyer and a news crew.
My cars transmission shut off, a wrench light came on and I couldn't accelerate. Car started shaking violently. Had to restart it to drive again. Car does it at random. Its my only car and its my life line with out it I cant get to work.
Had noticed several times that the vehicle hesitated to accelerate after pushing the gas. Later that afternoon, while accelerating from a stoplight, the vehicle started shaking and lost all power. I was able to get the vehicle into a parking lot and turned it off. When I restarted, the engine seemed to run normally but still hesitated to go when the gas was pressed. I got the car to a dealership and they explained that the throttle body was bad - "a common thing on these cars". Ford is refusing to cover the replacement under warranty, claiming that this is not part of the drive train - though admitting that the car will not function without the part.
Driving with the flow of traffic on a busy road, going about 55 all of sudden I lose power and the wrench light comes on. I was in the fast lane, and was very lucky to be able to get over to the slow lane, and eventually the shoulder and come to a stop. When I finally stopped, the car started shaking or hesitating. I turned the car off and sat for a few minutes. I then turned the car back on and everything was fine. The wrench light was gone and the car ran fine. This has happened 3 times and I have been very lucky that it has not caused a serious accident. I am going to take the car to the dealership on Thursday, but seeing that so many other numerous people have had the same problem and Ford just says that there is no problem, it will probably be a waste of time. It will most likely take a serious crash or death before Ford will figure out what's really going on with these cars. Sad, but true.
Shortly after purchasing the car, I started experiencing a number of problems. The first started three weeks after purchasing it. While driving on the interstate, doing approximately 65 mph, the wrench light came on in my car. Not too long after that the car begin shaking, so at this point I decided to pull it over at a rest area. Upon parking, I noticed smoke coming from the engine. Turned the car off and allowed it to sit for awhile. When I turned the car back on, the light was off and the car was running fine. I called the dealership and brought it back there so they could drive it and see what is wrong. They of course found nothing. A couple weeks later I blew my transmission. After taking two months in the shop, I finally got it replaced. Sure enough a couple weeks after that, the incident happen again. This time they said the throttle body needed to be replaced. Got that down and had my cat back a month later. A month after that, ths same thing happened. This time, they said it was some lining that needed to be fixed, so they did. A coulee days ago, the same incident occurred again. This time they are saying the cv axle and bushing need to be replaced. I bought the car in June 2012 and it has spent more time in the shop than in my possession. Not only am I paying a car payment for a car I dint barely have, but I am also paying weekly for a rental everytime it is in the shop.
Transmission slips gears and engages very hard, causing the car to lurch forward. On one occasion I nearly rear-ended a car in front of me because of this. While driving at low speeds the car will shift rapidly between two adjacent gears, as if it is "confused". Car will sometimes not shift at all; the rpm's just sit at that threshold for a while before knocking hard into the next gear, again causing a dangerous lurching motion. While on the highway the car will lose power suddenly, more prominent when the car is traveling up a steep incline. You could keep pressing the gas but amazingly the car seems to loose more power when you do this. The only way to get power is to open the throttle 100 percent in which case the car again jerks into gear very hard. This situation has happened plenty of times and is very scary. On some occasions the power was needed to accelerate in front of another car in another lane, to avoid an obstacle in the roadway. The latest incident that occurred was very scary. The transmission was making a funny sound, almost like a zipper being zipped. This seemed odd to me because it sounded almost like the gears were rubbing up against something, however I didn't think anything of it because the car seemed to be operating properly. Then I went to make a left turn across cross traffic. When there was a break in traffic I pressed the gas, the rpms went up to about 5k and the car slowly grinded into gear, almost like a person who doesn't know how to drive a stick shift very well. This caused my car to nearly get stuck in the middle of an active intersection and I was nearly t-boned. Thank good the other drivers saw me struggling and stopped. The issues with this powertrain seem to be endless and the worst part is that they occur at random with no warning.
I drive approximately 30 miles on the highway to get to work. The day this problem first occurred, I got off the highway and came to a stop sign. I checked for traffic both directions. A car was coming from the left, and I was turning right. I knew with my car's acceleration I had plenty of space to pull out safely (it has a v6 engine, automatic transmission). I hit the gas and pulled out. The car did not accelerate as expected. I barely hit 5 mph and the tachometer redlined. I took my foot off the gas pedal and tried again. Same thing - redlined. The third time I tried, the car shuddered and finally shifted to the next gear. The car behind me was far enough away to slow down safely, but in a different situation they could have easily hit me. I just rolled out in front of them because the car didn't respond when I hit the gas. Immediately after that incident, I scheduled a service appointment at a Ford dealership. The first available appointment was two weeks out. I booked the appointment and continued to (cautiously) drive my car to work. The car ran rough even at constant highway speeds. Last night I dropped my car off at the dealership for the service appointment. I took the highway to get there. When I tried to accelerate to merge onto the highway, the problem occurred again. I rolled out into traffic at about 5 mph, hitting the gas pedal and getting nothing. Again, I was lucky that there was enough room between me and the approaching traffic. This problem could have easily caused a bad accident. My car is currently at the Ford dealership. I'm waiting for them to call back with a diagnosis.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle decelerated abnormally. The contact stopped the vehicle and shifted into park as the vehicle began to shake vigorously and stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics and stalled a second time on while in route. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure because the computer was not providing a failure code. The failure recurred three times. The third time, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and the technician advised that the computer was not reading a failure code but the electronic throttle body would likely have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000. Updated 03/02/lj the consumer stated the rear window, weather stripping on the doors, and door handles had to be replaced. The consumer stated there have been numerous problems with the transmission. Updated 03/08/12.
Traveling on the street at about 40 mph, car shuddered to a stop. Engine light came on. Had car towed home. Car started the next day. Carefully drove the car to the Ford dealer. They replaced the throttle body. The throttle body should not be failing at 60000 miles. This should be a recall.
Own a 2010 Ford Fusion se with 24v 3. 0 v6 with 6 speed select shift transmission. When car was new, had hard shifts, and in mid 2010 Ford issues a recall to reprogram these issues. After this repair, dealership stated they ran a load test and the transmission was fine. In late 2010, the hard shifts returned and the dealership "reprogrammed" the transmission. In late June 2011 while on a road trip, received a transmission/drive train code (the wrench symbol) but no noticeable issues. Approximately one week later, started getting hard shifts. The next day, as I was pulling on a major road way, the transmission dropped out of gear, engine acted it was in neutral, and the car came to a complete stop. When I was able to get the car moving, it was revving poorly, shifting extremely hard, and had a terrible vibration. Had the car at the dealership for two days, they had a very hard diagnosing the issue (even though the system sent codes). They reprogrammed the transmission, and said the issue was fixed. Today, five days later, the issues returned, but worse. Every time the vehicle was at a stop, as you would begin to accelerate, the car would shudder and rev to 7000 rpm. You have to completely let off the throttle, and once it would drop to about 1500 rpm, and the transmission would reengage. In gear 5 or 6 at speed, it would try and down shift and would kick out of gear and rev to close to red line. I was almost rear ended on several occasions today as I was trying to get the vehicle home. As I've researched the issue, this seems to be a common issue with several near accidents.
Tl-the driver owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The driver stated the vehicle would shake violently while accelerating from a stop and rpms would also increase. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 20,400. Sm.
Ford Fusion 2010 - automatic transmission failure - can not trust this car to work properly - hard shifting - lurching forward - transmission tripping over itself like a 13 year old car at 1 month - 2 months acceleration problems - 3 months lurching forward and not moving when put into reverse - 6 months out of the blue violent shaking of the vehicle as if a wheel was about to fall off. At 6 months old that car is behaving mechanically worse than a 13 year old car - this car is unsafe - seriously thinking about dumping it back at the dealership as it is a lease. 31,000 km is when the violent shaking at higher speeds began (out of the blue) -.
Transmission slips between 2nd and 3rd gear every day when the engine is cold. Three times has caused violent shaking of the vehicle. I was close to being t boned due to the slippage once as the car wouldn't continue on the proper acceleration path.
