The contact's daughter owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving on the highway, she had to reverse the vehicle. After she shifted the gear shifter into reverse and then attempted shift into drive, the gear shifter would not move after multiple attempts. The contact stated that her daughter then shut off the vehicle. Her daughter was unaware if any warning lights had appeared on the instrument panel prior to the failure. The contact's daughter was able to have the vehicle towed to a dealer where they informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure NHTSA campaign number: 19v362000 (power train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. While the vehicle was stationary, the transmission malfunctioned. The contact stated that the shifter was in the park position; however, the transmission operated in reverse. The contact engaged the emergency brake to avoid crashing into a building. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who re-attached the transmission linkage and was able to restart the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle; however, the contact cited NHTSA campaign number: 18v471000 (power train) as a possible cause of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000. The VIN was not available.
