1 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2024

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed, however the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated. In addition, the contact noticed that the vehicle was driving strangely. The contact stated that later on that day, while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed fluid on the ground underneath the front left side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a transmission fluid leak and a failed half shaft seal. The contact was informed that the half shaft seal or the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed of an unknown recall repair, which had a similar failure description, however the contact's VIN was not associated with the recall. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,098.

2 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2022

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 mph there was a power steering failure. The service advance tracking and steering assist fault lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the personal mechanic which diagnosed the failure to be power steering. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,245.

3 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2022

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at 75 mph the vehicle would not accelerate without any warning. The contact was able to make it home. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic, and they replaced the transmission, but the failure reoccurred several times. At a different occasion while driving at 75 mph the warning message illuminated on the instrument panel saying service traction, power steering, hill start not available, and the power steering went out. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and they stated no failure was found. The manufacturer was contacted, and they stated to contact nhsta. The failure mileage was 68,000.
