Some months ago the check brakes light came on. I went to the brake shop and they said there was a little wear on the rear brake pads so they replaced them and cleaned all the brakes and filled the fluid. I was fine for a a while then a few months ago the check brakes light reappeared. At that time I saw Ford was recalling my car model for faulty brake lines. I called Ford and the local dealer and they said my car is not recalled yet. I also emailed Ford with the same reply. Now I notice is I park my car where the front is elevated the brakes are very loose and I have to pump them to stop when I put the car in reverse.

I stepped on my brakes for a red light on a city street and suddenly the brakes went to the floor, my dash lit up with several brake warning lights and I had to use a lot of pressure on the pedal to bring the car to a stop. I realized that I had lost most of by braking ability as well as regenerative braking. Checking the internet revealed that there is a recall out for this problem on Ford Fusions built in mexico during the time frame that my Ford was built in mexico using dot 3 brake fluid as mine uses. The recall(NHTSA #19v-904 Ford #19s54) states that it is non-VIN specific. I contacted my local Ford dealer and he said the VIN # of my Ford did not qualify for the recall??? I called Ford customer service and they said too that the VIN # disqualify 's me from this recall and could not tell me why. I was told to set up an appt. With a dealer, dealer , pay them 130. 00 for an analysis, and then Ford would add it to their database of problems for future consideration. The recall states abs modules are having valve problems but Ford has limited their acknowledgment of the problem to certain modules. Per the recall I talked to the gave them the data on my abs labels but they had no idea which date code, etc is covered by Ford. Another call to customer service resulted in a scripted response of we don't know which modules are covered and why my car is not. Escalating to the "manager of customer service was another brick wall, they refuse to tell me the specifics of the model/serial#, even the part number or date code of the modules covered so that I can verify what I have in my vehicle. Ford has put blinders on to the fact that more abs modules have problems than their engineers have identified. Checking the internet reveals many others were treated to the same denial that I have experienced!!.
Traveling on highway at 70 mph with sudden immediate inability to maintain speed (loss of power/acceleration). Vehicle not responsive to acceleration request until below 45 mph and behaves erratically (just stops responding and car slows). No check engine light and car otherwise runs normally. Accompanying behaviors: brake lights are constantly illuminated (stuck on), even when not braking and also when car is turned off and key removed. Intermittently when car is stopped, message "hill start assist not available" is shown. Took car into Ford dealership who diagnosed the problem and "found brake switch engagement bushing missing from brake pedal" and offered to replace the "brake pedal assembly" at a cost of $1,062. 35. Found several forums complaining of the same exact behaviors and noting that the oem "brake pedal stop pad" had broken into pieces. I also remembered vacuuming up some plastic pieces from the driver front floor area not realizing where they had come from. The "brake pedal stop pad" itself which would cost less than $5. 00 is not offered by Ford, so people are finding alternatives which may be unsafe and include: "brake pedal stop pad" not designed specifically for this vehicle, zip ties, and even magnets! other Ford models are affected as well. Some example forum links below. This should be a recall. . Read more...
In June 2020, while driving and braking for stop signs and traffic lights, brake pedal started to get a little mushy, then the next time I stepped on brake I heard/felt a "pop" and brakes were failing and brake fluid light came on. I pulled off and a mechanic saw that the left brake line was broken, unsafe to drive and would need replacing. Today Aug 19, 2020, as I was stepping on brake to shift into gear, I heard that same "pop", my brake pedal went down very fast. I inspected car and found brake fluid sprayed all over right front wheel well and brake line was broken, making it unsafe to drive. I am very thankful this did not happen yesterday while driving on freeway and all over city streets and up and down hills. I have repair invoices for both occurrences in June and Aug, but am unable to scan and attach at this time.
While driving on a 2 lane flat road the car started losing power, when I press the gas harder the car really speeded up and after 2 blocks it started losing power again, within that time the "hill start assist" warning light came on and went off losing power on and off for 5 miles until I reached home. After getting home I notice the brake light didn't go off after 2 hours, so I had to remove battery cable. I had to have it towed to repair shop and they repaired brake switch because I didn't know if it would stop completely.

As I was driving the brakes suddenly stopped working. Luckily I was in a parking lot . Advanced traction ,abs ,and check brake lights came on. Very dangerous stuff.
Brakes failed stopping suddenly at 70 mph nearly hitting a row of cars ahead of me pedal went to the floor increasing stopping distance probably 400 percent with very weal brakes. Brake light and abs inop light illuminated. Was able to drive car home slowly using hybrid electric motor brakes. Repair shop said brake control modual has failed this is a low milleage car unacceptable could get someone killed.

I was driving on the freeway when the brake light came on my dash then began to blink. I started to pull to the side of the freeway when I noticed my brakes were not working, I coasted to a stop and called triple a. The car was towed to a repair shop where I was told there was nothing wrong with the brakes. I drove the car out of the repair shop and when I came to the first stop sign again it felt like I had no brakes. I was only going about 15 mph so I was able to stop the car by pushing extremely hard down on the brake pedal and using the aid of my emergency brake. I returned the car to the repair shop and after 2 days they informed me that the car had a problem that only the dealership can fix. The car needed the brake system software updated because of a glitch resulting in the brake hydraulic control unit to get stuck open or react slowly.
Was driving out of a parking lot and tried to brake. Suddenly my brake light, abs light, and service advancetrac lights come on the dash. The pedal goes all the way to the floor and my car is not stopping. To avoid getting t boned I have to pull the emergency brake. Brought the car to get fixed and my abs/ hcu unit failed. The cost to repair was crazy high. Looked it up and Ford is currently doing a recall for 2006-2010 Ford Fusions for the exact same reason my brakes failed. They are not including hybrids in this recall for some reason. I would highly encourage Ford to include hybrids in the recall as clearly it doesn't matter if it is a hybrid or not. Ford Fusions from 2006-2010 are having this issue and it could have happened to me on the highway. Would have been fatal at that point because with no brakes going 65 mph, not good!.
Abs warning light and low brake fluid light on. The lines and master cylinder were replaced and the brakes are in worse condition. Loose and poor response when moving and needing to stop. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
On several occasions, after abs has engaged during braking, the brake pedal has gone soft, nearly to the floor. Required braking distance is greatly increased, as is the amount of foot pressure needed to bring the vehicle to a stop. This has happened while braking in snowy conditions, and also when hitting a pothole while braking. All instances occurred under 30 mph. This problem has not occurred during heavy braking under normal operating conditions, only when the abs system is activated. No brake warning lights have turned on. For reference, the latest incident happened six months after replacing all pads, all rotors and both front calipers.

Intermittently my brakes will go out, most often this happens after the vehicle has been off and I turn it off and try to reverse though it also happens when in drive. It has happens on access roads, the highway, my driveway and most often in parking lots. My car will roll and be completely unresponsive to the fact that I have my foot on the brake. The brake pedal goes soft and I can press it all the way to the floor. My brake light, abs light, etc on the dashboard all light up and my car keeps rolling. I try turning my vehicle on and off as sometimes even the emergency brake or putting the car in park will not get the vehicle to stop. I have almost hit other cars and pedestrians because of this issue and it is highly dangerous and come to find out a known glitch for some 2010 Ford Fusions.
While exiting from my condo parking garage, when applying the brake, brake lights came on and there was brake failure.
The vehicle was sitting about 24 hours and I go to get in it to go to work and it doesn't immediately start like it normally does, once it started the service brake light was now on along with the maintenance wrench and my brakes were practically non existent since I don't live far I drove it to the dealer with a escort vehicle just in case and the dealer replaced the battery retested and is now being sent to the manufacturer dealer to have something with the hybrid system serviced will update with more detail when received.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving at various speeds the brake pedal was applied however was slow to respond and failed to stop. The brake warning light was illuminated. Ford Fusion hybrid, stationary(parked on a slightly raised drive way) for 2 weeks I was on vacation. The car was parked with the gear shifter in parking. Neighbor told me brake lights came on all of a sudden. Stayed on for 3 days, and went out. Car needed jump start. Car is at Ford dealership in sarasota FL. I was told the switch on the back of the brake pedal is broken. Car needs brake pedal assembly replaced. This rare part is on national back order. My car has 64000 miles on it. Car has been grounded for 3 weeks already. Car has been grounded for 3 weeks already. Could this be a safety risk?.
While the car was sitting in the driveway I noticed the brake lights were on. Upon inspection, the silcone rubber pad that cushions the brake pedal from the brake light switch had become brittle and broke apart. The brake light switch now does not depress far enough to actuate the brake lights and they are stuck in the on position.
While in motion on a city street, the abs light, the red brake light, and the traction control light illuminated on the instrument panel. Brake pedal engagement requires more travel to engage the brakes. The vehicle was taken to a Lincoln dealership for repair. The dealer noted that the abs module failed. After a close inspection, it was determined that the abs module had failed due to brake fluid contamination. The abs module was replaced, but I'm concerned more with the apparent cause, which appears to be the degradation of the abs hydraulic control unit (hcu), where the abs module attaches to. The abs module should have zero fluid contamination. It would seem that the replacement abs module will fail from the fluid ingress contamination again. Please review attached photos and receipt. Thank you.
With antiskid activated trying to stop in an expedited manner from 30mph brakes lost all pressure. Pedal goes to the floor. With normal braking they work just fine. Tested brakes on a gravel road and speed does not matter. When the antiskid tries to stop the car you loose all brake pressure and car continues to travel forward with no braking. Emergency brake was the only thing that stopped the car. There is no brake warning light on at this time or during the event.
The stoplight switch, which turns on and off the brake lights, is activated by a rubber grommet/bushing/pad which is inserted into a hole on the brake arm assembly. Over time, this part deteriorated and broke into little pieces and fell out of place. Without it in place, the stoplight switch does not function properly, and the brake lights are constantly on. The vehicle is only 2 years old and has less than 40,000 miles on it. It is unknown when this occurred, however it was noticed when the vehicle was parked. Further yet, Ford does not offer this bumper as a spare part, nor do they even know the part number, forcing me to retrofit the vehicle with an aftermarket part. I would assume the thickness of the pad is critical to reliable brake light operation, so I will be forced to make a risky modification.

Driving the other day I lost brakes and almost had an accident with another vehicle. The brake light came on along with the service light. Which is still on. Drive home variously in low gear when needed. When in low gear I heard a constant grinding noise. Still patiently waiting on my takata air bag replacement thru Ford. This vehicle is new to me and I haven't made my first payment yet. Only has 40k for mileage. As is common with most Ford cats. I asks experienced surges in the vast. My lay cast was an 04 taurus.
Hi im having trouble braking after my abs kicks in. My pedal sinks to the floor usually. The car is always braking different now sometimes I barely have to press it but then it sinks and losses pressure. There is no brake light or abs light on. Ive had my brake system inspected and a brake line flush. It didnt help. It seems like a real safety issue.

I had to replace the front passenger brake line in 2017 due to a leak. Less than a year later, July 2018, the same thing happened and I had to replace the front driver's side front brake line due to a leak. I realized there was an issue when I was driving & the brake pedal went to the floor. Only after about 15 minutes did the low brake fluid light come on after each occurrence. I had my car at the dealer last week for a recall repair and overhear another customer with a 2015 Fusion say she had a brake line leak.
Since purchasing the vehicle from gresham Ford on 12/10/16, there have been three separate occasions when the vehicle lost control while braking and did not stop when expected. I was very fortunate to avoid collisions on all three occasions. The first incident occurred on 7/28/17. The roads were dry. I was driving on the interstate at highway speed when I saw stopped traffic ahead and had to stop quickly. I had plenty of time to slow down and stop, however, when I applied the brakes, the tires squealed, vehicle skidded and actually left tire marks on the road and I was very close to not being able to stop in time. I took the Ford in to gresham Ford to get the brakes checked the next day and was told by a service tech. That the brakes were fine, but that I might want to get the abs checked out. The next incident occurred on January 11, 2018, when I was driving on the interstate, traveling at 60 mph in the rain. I tapped the brakes lightly as I entered into some water that had pooled (not deeply) on the roads. My car completely lost control and started hydroplaning. I could not pull out of the hydroplane for 20-30 seconds. My car was pulling towards the exterior guardrail for some time and then suddenly it was as if someone grabbed my steering wheel and pulled it as hard as they could to the left. I started traveling diagonally across lanes of traffic, but was able to recover because the vehicle stopped hydroplaning at that point. The third incident occurred on October 26, 2018. I was going about 40-45. It was raining, but not enough to hydroplane. The stoplight turned yellow and I knew I didn't have time to make it through before it turned red. I had to stop quickly, but when I did, instead of stopping, my vehicle began skidding (not hydroplaning) and sliding forward. The car was difficult to control and was pulling me toward the left lane.

When I was trying to brake on some light ice to make a turn it locked up on me and was unable to come to a stop. . . Since that incident I have soft squishy brakes , to stop it goes almost to the floor. , I have had brakes checked out there is nothing wrong with them. . Said it was the abs system needing to be checked out and that Ford is aware that there is a safety issue on this 2009 Ford Fusion.
Hit the brakes coming down a hill on wet surface, had a abs event and the brake pedal went to floor. Had to pump brakes to stop . Now constant soft pedal. No brake light or abs light came on or have since come on. Had master brake cylinder replaced was not the problem. Researched online and found information saying the abs system was malfunctioning and many other people have the same problem.
While coming to a slow stop down a small incline, I heard a loud pop, and the car started to roll forward. In order to stop the vehicle, the pedal had to be pressed and excessive amount towards the floor. Pedal travel continues to be excessive with no brake warning light on, and vehicle jerks slightly to the left during the initial portion of a stop.
Soft pedal, goes almost to the floor, hydraulic control unit has been changed, brakes have been bleed manually and power bleed. Common issue Ford knows about involving 2007 and 2008 Ford Fusions. Already called Ford and complained. Very costly fix for the consumer $950 part. The vehicle was in motion when it occurred. It also did it when hitting a bump and the abs turned on, the pedal remained soft, no abs light or brake lights on.
I was driving down a frontage road about 25 miles per hour when I put my foot on the brakes. I felt the abs engage and when I broke again my foot went down to the floor. This happened on Friday, August 28. I drove it home, being very careful not to go near any other cars and time my driving so I did not have to brake at lights. The next day I took it to the shop and when I got there I noticed that the brakes once again engaged but I left it there anyway because I did not trust what was going on. I received a call today from my mechanic and he said that through some research he did, he found that there seems to be an intermittent problem recorded with the abs on the 2008 Ford Fusions. The part would take up to 3 days to get at a cost of $800 with 5 hours of labor to repair!!! after doing some research myself, it seems like my car is not the only one this has happened too and I'm shocked that there is no recall for such a safety hazard. I was just glad that this happened when I was driving the car vs. My daughter and that I was not in a situation that I needed to brake to avoid hitting someone or something.
When starting vehicle red brake light on, abs light, traction control light, check brake system message and service advance trac message on verified by Ford service technician: ids test had code for b1342, internal fault in control module, needs abs control module replaced at cost of $860. In researching this on the internet I found that there are many complaints about this faulty module and feel that this should be recalled by Ford motor company.
Upon starting my car after being parked overnight, the "service advanc trac message came on along with red brake light, abs light, traction control, and check brake system message. Ford service tech performed diagnostic and concluded ids test code b1342, internal fault in control module, needs abs control module at cost of $860. 00!! after doing some research online, I find that this is a very common problem with the Ford vehicles. This should be recalled!!.
