4 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/12/2020

The brake pedal is soft and travels further than normal. Braking distance is significantly increased. This began after the abs system engaged several weeks ago after normal braking over a rough section of road and it has not returned to normal. All brake pads and rotors were replaced and the system was flushed but the problem remains. Based on some research it appears this is a known issue caused by a faulty abs module.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/11/2020

Vehicle was stationary foot on brakes in reverse. My sister touched the back of the car with her hand I heard a loud beeeeeeep then never heard any sound again. Not even when the keys are left in the ignition or when I'm unbuckled. Not a single sound. Then 3 months later the brakes were stalling so I got new rotors and pads and they still stall/ shake. As if that wasn't enough now it just doesn't start: I've googled all these problems and I'm not the only one. Ford should not be allowed to keep selling the same broken cars.

10 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/19/2019

I was entering a freeway on an entrance. The cars in front me began to slow down. I was going about 45 mph. I apply brakes and I didn't feel a slow down. I reacted by then slamming the brakes and I want slowing down. I swerved into the shoulder hit the concrete wall, then hit another car from the side that was about 4 cars down and then hit the concrete wall again. The entire time I had the brakes pressed completely down. I did stop and I had the brakes floored. The pressure I'm used to feeling was no there. No one was seriously hurt. I travelled passed 6 cars and hit 1. I had plenty of time and distance to break, I couldn't stop. There were no warnings my brakes were a problems. I had just replaced all 4 brakes pads judy 2018 and did not have any issues. The freeway ramp I entered had construction so I was enclosed and had no option but the concrete wall and the ramp was ending since it merged into the highway.

11 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/08/2019

On Aug 8, 2019 my right front wheel crossed over a dip in the road while making a right turn. I pressed my brake and almost immediately I had an 'empty' feeling in my brake pedal. I could press the brake paddle completely down without much resistance. Had my rotors and brake pads checked next day but all 100%. Learned that the hydrolic control unit (hcu) unit was affected. A known Ford Fusion failure and costly to replace!!! recall Ford!!!.

12 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

(my daily path is on city streets marked 45 mph. Incidents generally occur at intersections with stop lights/signs; I am continuing straight and not turning) brakes do not function when brake pedal is pressed while driving during wet conditions, conditions with a dusting of snow or if vehicle hits a bump while brake pedal is pressed. Instead, the brake pedal falls all the way to the floor and the vehicle continues forward. Driver must pump brake pedal numerous times to get pedal to return to normal position and for brakes to activate. This has not happened under normal conditions. The abs system does not seem to activate, as it does not function with the normal chattering movement that an abs system has. Driver can hear a slight hum and feel normal pedal resistance when the brake pedal is initially pressed, then the brake pedal falls to the floor and the vehicle continues forward. This does not always occur when the pavement is wet, as it is very unpredictable. The brake pads on this vehicle are somewhere around a year old. Tires are about 8 months old and have full tread. The vehicle has been driven 159,000 miles with the first incidence of brake failure happening somewhere around 40,000 miles. I was narrowly missed by a semi truck driver on Friday morning as I slid through a red light, on a wet roadway, with my foot on the pedal which had fallen to the floor. This is not just a problem with my vehicle, as there are hundreds of people reporting the same issue on forums online. Please make Ford recall these vehicles before someone dies. I will put a date of occurrence below but it only signifies the latest date this has happened. This began in November 2012 and seems to be increasing in frequency. I have experienced brake failure three times in the last 45 days.

13 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

Brake pedal goes to the floor with weak braking power. Hydraulic control unit seems bad like hundreds of others report. VIN does not match the recall for 2010-2013 fusin\Mercury cars. It however is same problem. Brake pads, flush and check of brake booster tests fine.

14 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

Takata inflators: my vehicle was not driven for 6 months as part of the recall. I was given a rental while waiting for parts, but since having the recall parts installed my vehicle has started having brake problems. When driving the brake pedal will go all the way down to the floor. It feels like the brakes will not hold pressure. I had the brake pads and rotors changed after it sat for 6 months.

15 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/15/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 15-20 mph in inclement weather, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to slow the vehicle down within a safe distance. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The brake pads were replaced three additional times. Additionally, the contact stated that the seal around the windshield failed and water leaked from the windshield down behind the dashboard. The contact stated that an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle repaired; however, a loaner vehicle would not be provided. Several unknown dealers and the manufacturer were called and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

16 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/10/2019

Driving through town on a sunny day when the light in front of me turned red. I applied the brakes and went over a small bump. After the bump the brake pedal went to the floor. The vehicle would not stop in time and I was forced to roll through the intersection. I was terrified. Thankfully, I did not cause an accident, but the brake pedal remained spongy. It feels like it has about 30% braking power. I had a total brake replacement less than 1000 miles ago. Pads, rotors, bled the lines, the whole 9 yards.

17 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/07/2018

The brake pedal suddenly went all the way to the floor. Brought the car to the local for dealer and they diagnosed the problem as brake pads and rotors, obviously pads ad rotors have nothing to do with the brake pedal going to the floor while braking. I did research and testing on the car and found the cause of the issue. The cause is a failed abs pump. Apparently this is a well known failure in Ford Fusions and can and does cause complete loss of braking leading to accidents. The abs system that Ford designed and installed in the Fusion has a major safety defect, in that if the abs pump has an internal leak then when the brake pedal is depressed the brake fluid is allowed to flow passed the abs pump, allowing the brake pedal to go to the floor. When the brake pedal goes to the floor baking is limited or non existent. Please do an internet search and you will see that this is a common occurrence that Ford has not addressed and has not trained it technicians to identify. My children drive this car and I found out about this issue by driving the car to the dealership for the airbag recall. Please do something about this issue.

18 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2007 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/02/2018

Driving down a hill and the brake went all the way to the floor and almost couldn't stop, had everything checked with the brakes and fluid and everything was fine with brake fluid level, brake pads but nothing has been remedied to fix this problem seems to be an abs module and there have been many complaints about this problem. To take it to a dealer and have them fix this ongoing problem with this make and model would cost around 2,500. 00. My car only has around 50,000 miles on it and I am the only owner who is 72 years old. Problems need to be taken care of quicker with recalls also because I'm still waiting for my airbag recall and that has been for a year now and when I call or take my car to the dealer for them to fix the recall and get a rental car which I also got a notice that I was eligible to get, the dealer will not give me a loaner car nor do they even know of when the takata airbags will be replaced. Hopefully no one gets killed because of this recall. I don't know what the holdup is but, I don't appreciate getting a recall notice and wasting my time taking my car in for it and then being told they don't have the part. For it. What piss poor service our auto industry is sinking to.

19 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/23/2018

The brakes on this car go almost all the way to floor before they engage. I have bled the brakes, replaced pads and rotors and none of these actions resulted in improved performance. I have read numerous posts that the abs pump is defective. I am troubled by this as my daughter drives this car and I do not feel it is safe. This issue occurs at any speed in any condition I. E. Dry, wet, turning or going straight. This also results in longer braking distances as the engagement is not normal. I have called Ford and they have taken no action whatsoever.

20 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/17/2018

My daughter, who drives the car, informed me her brake pedal was going all the way to the floor when she tried to stop and that her braking distance was a lot longer than it should be, she felt it was unsafe to drive the car for fear of not being able to stop suddenly if need to. She has informed me of many close calls she has experienced with getting her vehicle stopped. I checked her brake pads and they were fine, so I blead the brakes, and this did not help either. After searching online, I found this to be a common problem with 2011-2012 model Fusions. Everything I found online pointed toward the hydraulic control unit of the abs module. I think Ford should have a recall on this issue since it is a safety concern and not to mention the cost of the hcu for the abs.

21 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2007 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

My father owns a 2007 Ford Fusion for about 5 years. About a year ago, he began experiencing soft brake pedal issues. The brake pedal did not have pressure and go all the way down the floor. The braking distance is also poor. The car travels significantly farther and takes longer before it come to a complete stop. My father took the car to a local licensed mechanic for a routine brakes service. The brake pads and brake fluid were replaced but the soft brake pedal and poor braking still persisted. The mechanic did research on the vehicle and found that our issue is consistent to a known issue in the 2007 Ford Fusion antilock braking system (abs) hydraulic control unit (hcu) brakes system. My father said the brake issues occurred after the abs came on after braking on an un-even surface. The mechanic said he does not have the expertise to perform the tasks and recommend us to file a complaint.

22 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Problem occurs when vehicle is in motion. We (two drivers) experienced intermittent braking hesitation. Usually when driving on rough pavement, and especially when turning, brakes will hesitate to activate properly. Brake pedal tends to drop near the floor before braking occurs. Have noticed approximately 20-30 feet of additional pavement distance is covered before brakes fully engage. New brake pads were installed within the last 20,000 miles, but this is believed to be an issue with a faulty abs. We believe this is likely an issue with corrosion and/or sticky valves in the abs unit as others have described and posted on-line.

23 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/12/2018

Had new front brake pads installed Nov 2017. During rush hour going 25 under the posted speed limit of 45 mph (as fast as I could safely go with traffic), I was rear ended. Brakes would not work, brake pedal went all the way to the floor. Crashed into car in front of me. After repair (new front end), brakes will still go all the way to the floor on occasion, and are very jumpy-like it's stopping then releasing rapidly. 3 shops have found no issues.

24 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 01/05/2018

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. There were no warning indicators illuminated. A local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage and VIN were unknown.

25 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/11/2017

Takata recall I have had issues with my brakes ever since I got the brake pads changed about a year ago. I have taken it to several shops that cannot tell what is causing the problem. It is really difficult to get the car to stop. You really have to press all the way down. I find it extremely dangerous. Brakes should work immediately not with a delay. In rain or snow the car has an even more difficult time stopping which has almost resulted in a few accidents. I really believe their needs to be a recall. This is our family's car and I don't even feel safe driving it alone, much less with my children. Please look into this matter. Peoples lives are at stake!.

26 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

On 3 occasions my anti-lock brake system seemed to engage and fail causing the entire brake system itself to fail. One occasion was braking over a slick surface in a city street, my anti-lock brakes attempted to engage and the pedal then went straight to the floor and my vehicle hardly slowed down even 5 mph. On two other occasions going over uneven surfaces, one a high way exit ramp, the other a city street under construction. I attempted to brake so my suspension system would take less of an impact, and because of the object I was going over my anti-lock brakes engaged and failed. On both occasions the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and the vehicle hardly slows at all. Each time this happens the brake pedal will not recover for approximately 2-3 weeks. By this I mean that I must depress the brake pedal about 80% before the brakes will actually engage. After the 2-3 week period the brakes seem to go back to normal on their own. On all three occasions my brake pads were at least 80% and the brake fluid was full.

27 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/17/2017

Premature and sudden rear break failure of both passenger and driver side: since purchase car showed moderate vibration upon heavy breaking but appeared to function normally prior to total rear brake failure. A sudden screeching noise showed up comping from the rear of the vehicle along with a noticeable loss of breaking power. Upon immediate visual inspection the rear break pads were completely worn with only 18,983 miles since purchased in 2014. The worn pads showed to cause immediate and significant damage to the break discs. Premature wear and damage to the discs were not covered by the vehicle's warranty as the vehicle exceeded it for 4 months or any current recall.

28 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/03/2017

Had brakes serviced, new pads, rotors, etc. A few months later noticed brake pressure lost at times, pedal went to floor. Took back in to shop, components stated as ok. Problem persists. Noticed that it happens after a stop where abs is activated, then next brake activation has low pedal. Also seems to happen in reverse. Not safe, car stop time increases without warning. This is the abs hydraulic module problem that is already under investigation for at least 2007-2009. My 2011 has the same problem. Car is at Ford dealer now.

29 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2016 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/07/2017

Rear brakes are beginning to wear. I am told that the brake pads need to be replace. How can this be when the vehicle is bearly a year old. Please explain.

30 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/17/2017

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. While the vehicle was undergoing routine maintenance, the contact was informed that the rear brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The contact was concerned that the rear brake pads needed to be replaced after only 22,000 miles. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

31 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

There has been an ongoing recall for the hydraulic system that causes brakes to not slow down my vehicle. I notice this more when it rains or is icy outside. Recall remedy was supposed to be ready first quarter of 2020; I have gone through more sets of brakes and brake pads on this vehicle than any other vehicle I have ever owned. Ford has done nothing to help remedy this and no Ford dealership can give a clear answer regarding when this will be available. Ongoing issue for nearly 3 years now.

32 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/11/2016

As I was braking to turn into the driveway at work this past winter , the road was snow covered and the antilock brakes activated. Since that time the brake pedal has excessive amount of travel before brakes engage. I have since changed out pads , rotors and flushed the brakes and cannot get rid of the soft brake pedal. I did some searching online this past weekend and found others having the same issue. Ford needs to correct this brake issue.

33 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/08/2016

When breaking sudden my brake pedal goes to the ground and won't stop. It happened when hitting a bump in the road and breaking and has occurred in slippery conditions. It has been intermittent. I have had my break pads, rotors replaced, all lines checked for pressure no leaks. The car may be very dangerous if we fall in the wrong situation. Fortunately that hasn't happened yet. Today the brakes are working fine but you just don't know when you have to use them and the pedal goes to the floor. This has happened on several occasions in the past few months.

34 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/06/2016

While traveling on the expressway at speed, on two different occasions, the brake pedal on my '09 Ford Fusion first began to grab then traveled all the way to the floor resulting in no brakes. The first time was just after hitting a pot hole and the second was on wet payment. The first resulted in sliding into an intersection after exiting the freeway and being able to stop. The second required me to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid rear-ending the car in front of me. The car was then inspected at a Ford dealership which said the brake fluid was a bit low but no other problems were found. The pads are good, no leaks have been detected and yet the low fluid can't be explained, even though it was inspected two months earlier. Both failures occurred during hard braking and one other issue such as a pot hole or wet pavement. No alert indicators lights on the dash have ever come on. The dealer reported no error codes being available from the computer. The issue has not occurred in the last 3 weeks since the last dealer "repair".

35 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/28/2016

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the brake functionality on the vehicle had diminished abnormality. The contact stated excessive pressure needed to be applied in order for the vehicle to be able to stop safely at any speed. The contact stated that there was no failure with the brake pads however they did confirm that the vehicle took an excessive amount of force to function. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000. Kh.
