When in motion, the vehicle's brake pedal has excessive travel, almost needing to be pushed to the floorboard before any braking occurs. The uncertainty over the car's braking ability makes it dangerous to drive. No error codes or abs lights present. Local repair shop replaced brake pads and rotors and found no air in the system when they bled the brakes. They speculated it is possibly the hydraulic control unit for the abs. The contact went back to the dealer where he was informed that he could have had the vehicle repaired out of pocket and received a reimbursement through the manufacturer. I towed my carhome. I believe Ford should help fixthis problem.

Ii was in a parking lot and pressed on the brake pedal and it went to the floor and did not stop the car. I had to pump the brake pedal to get the car to stop. I had to continue to pump the brakes any time I tried to slow down or stop the rest of the way home. 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid. I was leaving work. Exiting a warehouse down a ramp when I went to break and my breaks failed. Problem resolved when I turned the car off and back on. A year later, while driving down the street breaks went out again as I tried to break at a traffic stop at a main intersection. I had the car serviced at Ford in March, they found no mechanical problems. A few days ago as I was leaving my house, I reversed to get out of my parking then I went to drive and immediately my breaks went out a third time, this time the abs light, break light, traction lights and "service advancetrac lights came on the dash" every time I was required to use the emergency break to slow and park the car. This is a horrible experience that could have ended taking my life or someone else's. The car is currently at Ford in fairfield California where I was just notified the repair cost is $3,400. . Which I don't have. The diagnostics by Ford have been inconsistent. I was notified that there is a recall for this problem for the year and model of my car but when I enter the VIN number in your system it says there are no recalls. Please help!.

Recall notice has been sent to me in January of 2020. This hydraulic control unit needs to be fixed. My abs light and break light comes on driving at high speeds, low speeds, backing up. Anytime I drive the vehicle and I feel it dangerous. I fear that it may not be brought to a controlled stop one day.

While driving the vehicle on a main city street (straight away) the electronic stability system lights came on along with the abs light and the vehicle proceeded to try and stop on its own without me applying pressure to the brakes. In August 2016, I cranked my car (a 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid) in my driveway and noticed the service advancetrac, brake failure system, and abs lights lit up on the dash. I tried to back out and notcied the electric break were not working and the break peddle was to the floor and difficult to press. The car was towed to a Ford dealer. They kept the car for a week and could not find a probelm. The lights went off and the probelm was resolved on its own. In August 2019, this probelm happened again. I cranked the car in a parking lot and noticed the same warning lights from 3 years ago were on. I was able to get home, but the brakes were not very responsive and were significiantly further down than usual. I took the car to a Ford dealership and they claimed they "reset the system" and the problem was resolved. A few weeks later, the issue reoccured. The dealership said they did not know how to relsove the problem. After about 4 days the warning lights went off and the brakes returned to normal. On October 20, 2019 the warning lights came on again and the issue is still occuring. The car is drivable, but it does not feel safe. It could not come to an abrupt stop if needed and I live on a highway where people often pull out in front of me. In 2009, Ford issued a software update for the brake system for Fusion hybrids. It seems later hybrid models also need a software update. I have read that replacing the brakes or abs control module does not reslove the probelm. It is an issue with the computer system.

On two occasions the car loss power from 60 down to 30 had to pull over and shut the car down very scary situation on the highway . After sri 15 minutes or so the car started back up . Had Ford run a diagnostic test and said couldn't find anything wrong. Second time did the same thing about six months later another scary situation safely pulled over and waited 15 minutes and car started, was fine for another six months . Also had two situations when brakes didn't work abs lights came on with other lights pertaining to brakes had to pull over and shut car down for awhile . Turn car on and they were fine . Again I want to emphasize very scary situation. Dates incidents occurred 09/10/2019 and 09/24/2020 engine shut down , brakes situation 09/15/2020 and again on 04/04/2021.

While in motion and trying to come to a stop the abs light came on and brakes went completely to the floor and barely stopped the car. It's now stuck that way. Abs lights always on and brakes are spongy. Also fuel pump whines loudly while car was driving and car dies while driving down the road and now won't accelerate going uphill. This has happened on many occasions and now it stuck having no power uphill or when trying to accelerate.

This is the second time in the past month my brakes went soft after pulsating to a quick stop (abs I guess kicked in). I took it to a mechanic the first time and he couldn't find anything wrong with the brake system. After he looked at it and did a few things to make abs light come on, they went back to normal. Now it's back, after I had to brake in the snow at a light on the highway. They are back to being spongy and I have to push down further to come to a complete stop.

Abs brake controller: after abs was activated on a slippery stop, abs light and traction control light illuminate intermittently at startup and while driving. Abs and/or traction control operate intermittently during normal dry stops. The behavior is consistent with the descriptions on the NHTSA site of cars with fouled abs controller valves. Turning off the traction control system seems to decrease the frequency that abs gets activated during normal stops.

I was entering a left hand curve with the brake applied. The road was a little rough and as I applied the brake harder, the pedal went to the floor. Both rear driver and passenger brakes are simultaneously wearing down within 2 weeks of standard use. Outer pad wears twice as fast as inner for both calipers. Pads and rotors changed twice. Calipers tested without issue. Pad wear is severely uneven. Others online have noted faulty abs modules from Ford. Spongy brake pedal. Occasionally brakes get stuck on rear. Front brakes operate without issue or abnormalities. Issues began after abs light flashed while driving.

Making a right turn, going 5-10 miles per hour and all of the sudden I get a "service advancetrac" message along with "hill assist check" "check rear parking sensor" and it appeared an abs light and no air bags.

I finally got the abs control module replaced in the Ford Fusion after living with 'soft brakes' for many years. When an abs event occurs, the pedal goes soft immediately after, and the braking distance significantly increases. The abs warning light never came on. Ford should be more responsible about taking care of this defect before people get hurt.

After abs activation brake pedal goes to floor with greatly reduced braking effectiveness. No abs fault light. Recall on earlier model years.

The abs goes off when applying the breaks at random times when it should not be, such as on dry payment, making breaking distances longer. The event occurs mostly at speeds below 45 mph and has been primarily observed in local traffic. When this occurs it seems to be when turning the wheel, such as slowing down to make a right or left hand turn. There are no abs warning lights on the dash, breaks are newer along with tires.

Abs light is on with soft braking.

Absolutely malfunction on gravel and snow, brakes go to floor and vehicle skids and need to pump brakes to return to normal brake brakes system ok mechanic states abs valve body bad. No abs malfunction light ever came on. Close to accident with 3 children in car.

At least three times on separate occasions, abs warning lights came on and engaged suddenly while there was a loss of braking power. Brakes were spongy and could barely stop the car. Trouble codes c00002 c0022, c1012, u0415 and u30000 codes showed. My mechanics checked my mechanical brake systems and all were fine and found no problem. My mechanic thinks a computer problem is the issue. I took car to local Ford dealer and they found no braking problem.

Abs lights, traction control lights, throttle body control lights, air bag lights, emergency break lights, rear right break lights all come on my dash, it is at random times, first starting the car up, driving it for 2 minutes or even up to 10-12 minutes. Speed, weather or making a turn or just going straight does not matter. Warning lights can go off every day multiple times or as lttle as once a week. You can feel the streeting get very tight, its hard to even make a turn which is not very safe. Had my vehilce in the shop for 25 days straight. Was told the issues were fixed and withint 7 hours of picking my car up all the same lights came on.
