Brake Abs Warning Light Problems of Ford Fusion - part 2

After engaging the abs on light snow, my brakes became spongy. Couple of inches of play on the brake pedal before it would engage.

What I will be describing has happened on more than one occasion: when stopping my vehicle on an uneven surface, my brakes make a whirrring noise and I lose my brakes. Fortunately I have not had to avoid another vehicle or stationary item. Once I ran a stop sign, but it was at a four-way and no other vehicles were present. After this happens my brakes get "squishy". I feel like I have lost 1/2 of my brakes function. I am very careful when stopping and tend to slow much sooner than needed. After a long time it seems like my brakes are "back", but when I have to stop and use the abs we cycle through the same problem. I have taken my vehicle to the local Ford dealer (where I have my car regularly serviced) and I was told that after inspection my brakes look fine. If I want further diagnostics I would have to pay approximately $100 just to "see". A local mechanic told me that unless my abs warning light was on he could not even run the diagnostics. My abs light has never came on.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle and pressing the break pedal the abs sensor light was activated. Moments later while attempting to stop the brake pedal extended to the floor, the vehicle did not immediately stop causing the stopping distance to be extended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who changed the rear rotors and brake pads and brake fluid but the same failure reoccurred several months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the front brake pads and rotors. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,914. Jft.

Light snow on roads when I approached a stop sign. Approached slowly and began to lightly apply the brakes. Felt/heard abs engage when the brake pedal lost all resistance and went to the floor. Began franticly pumping the brakes and, after approximately 10 pumps, they returned. Pulled away from intersection and lightly applied brakes on a dry area of pavement; same result as above. Abs indicator light is not on. Immediately took vehicle to a repair facility (pumping my leg off every time I had to decrease speed) and they found no issue. Stated the problem is likely with the abs hcu (as they had seen the same issue occur on a Lincoln mks). Pedal restored to normal while traveling home from shop.

I was driving and about 15 miles an hour it is raining I was coming up to the slow curve 1 hill my abs light turned on my brakes are locked up made me slide into a curb now my abs light is on and I don't feel comfortable driving my car.

The contact owns a 2009 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced delayed brake responses while depressing the brake pedal. The abs warning light was illuminated. The contact then received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Today my brake pedal went down to the floor . When I started my vehicle . The abs light came on. No hill side start. . Service advance traction. I have replaced all . Brake pads, shocks ,and had rotor worked on. Abs has gotten worst. I took my car to the nearest Ford shop. I asked them to check it out and replace my abs sensor.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while having an oil change performed, the mechanic noticed that the rear brakes were worn. The mechanic replaced the rear brakes. The contact later noticed that the abs light was illuminated so the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer. The dealer performed a diagnostic test that located the failure as the abs module having malfunctioned and needing to be replaced. The contact did not have the abs module replaced. The failure mileage was 12,000.
