1 Defogger problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/07/2012

The fan blower to the air condition failed to work after a short park. The dealership told me the wire and resister had burned, did not know which happened first. I was told it could cause a fire so the parts were disconnected. Until new parts were installed. My concern is this vehicle was parked in my garage and this could have been a much bigger problem . I also am concerned that I am not the only one. Why should this happen to a car less than 2 years old.

2 Defogger problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/25/2010

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that when the heater was activated, the silver portion of the heat adjusters would become extremely hot and could not be adjusted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the mechanic was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 2,000. The current mileage was 50,000.

3 Defogger problem of the 2007 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/14/2009

The defrosters take the air from the outside of the vehicle only. This pulls in exhaust gases during heavy traffic. Setting the control to defrost and floor only allows temporary recirculation of inside air, but the car automatically reselects the outside air after a few minutes. The only alternatives that allow continuously recirculation of inside air do not put any warm air on the windshield. When driving is stop and crawl traffic in the winter, the driver must choose between breathing exhaust gases or fogged windows. This is aggravated by the unshielded vent on the hood that draws in air from the outside and the shape of the vehicle which directs the exhaust gas laden air up over the hood to the vent. In sub zero weather, the exhaust gases tend to remain near the ground and the large windshield requires significant hot air to remain unfrosted at the top where the taller drivers need to see through. This is a continuous problem, not a one day event.
