Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 15-20 mph in inclement weather, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to slow the vehicle down within a safe distance. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The brake pads were replaced three additional times. Additionally, the contact stated that the seal around the windshield failed and water leaked from the windshield down behind the dashboard. The contact stated that an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle repaired; however, a loaner vehicle would not be provided. Several unknown dealers and the manufacturer were called and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

2016 Ford Fusion. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle windshield and dashboard issues. The consumer stated when the sun shined through the windshield onto the dashboard, it reflected a 'v" above the instrument panel on the dashboard. The edges of the "v" reflected onto the inside of the front windshield and interfered with the driver's vision. The center cut out in the center of the dashboard also reflected onto the inside of the windshield, but since it was centered it did not interfere with the driver's vision. The consumer believed the reflection on the driver's windshield was a design defect. If the "v" was not cut into the dashboard above the instrument panel, there would be no reflection. If the dashboard was anti-glare the problem would probably be solved.

I was driving on a east on a country road in the morning and the sun was in my eyes. I pushed the visor up against the windshield and it would not stay in place against the windshield. It returned to the vertical position, where it most obstructs visibility. Because of the position of the visor, I did not see a deer up ahead till the last minute, had to brake hard, and came very close to hitting the deer. These defective visors make driving extremely unsafe. I either have the sun in my eyes, or I have the visor severely obstructing my visibility.

On June 19, 2010 a large crack developed in my windshield of my 10 month-old 2010 Fusion hybrid. No foreign object struck it. A Ford dealership is attempting to attribute the crack to a foreign object with no objective explanation. The crack continued to grow across the entire windshield making the vehicle unsafe to operate.
While driving our brand new Ford Fusion sedan se on the freeway around 2pm. I was far away from cars and I don't drive near semi's or dump trucks I heard a noise in the windshield frame on the passenger side mid way up and then a horizontal crack approx 14 inches appeared. I got off the next exit and called our dealer immediately and they said bring into service dept 7am next morning. The service dept looked at windshield and frame and stated it was a microscopic chip. We had to pay almost $400 for a new windshield and we still think it was a defective windshield. It was at approx 1,000 miles. It's interesting and concerning a friend of ours bought a Ford Fusion s at the same dealer over a month ago and after 2 weeks his windshield did the same thing. We'd appreciate you checking into this. I spoke with the business manager at the dealer the day it happened and he said maybe it's the heat. I had 2 of the windows down partially in the back. Where's the quality checks they make. Thank you.
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion sel and right after I first got it I had a crack in windshield and thought a rock must have hit it. I got it repaired (after many problems with the repairs) and not long after I got a star burst. Will have to have it fixed now too! I have had many cars throughout the years and have never had to replace the windshield, this one now twice and only 10,000 miles on it????.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion sport. The contact stated that the windshield contained a stress crack due to the heat. The vehicle was purchased on April 13, 2009. The vehicle is currently at the dealer being repaired at the cost of $300, which is half of the repair bill. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not covered under warranty; therefore, he has to pay for half of the repair. The failure mileage was 1,300. Updated 05/13/09 the service department concluded that a rock hit the windshield and the hot weather caused the crack to expand. The consumer believed the windshield was defective. Updated 05/13/09.
As I approached a green traffic, the sun was in my eyes, so I moved the sun visor down so the sun was blocked but I could still see the traffic light. When I let go of it, it would not stay up against the windshield and hung straight down, blocking the traffic light. If it had turned red, I never would have know it. I had to drive with one had holding up the visor and one hand on the steering wheel. When I took my car in to the dealership I told them that the visor has never stayed up except against the car ceiling and we both looked at a 2008 model, which works fine. He said that they could order a new visor, but the replacement would be identical, so it wouldn't do any good. I feel that it is too dangerous to drive with one hand on the wheel and the other hand either blocking the sun or holding the visor up.
I purchased a 2006 Fusion on 8-12-06 after an initial test drive. The car appeared to be free from any cosmetic defects. When picking up the vehicle after the papers were signed. However, the more I drove the car, the more I noticed a defect in the windshield glass. I was not able to put my finger on the problem until reading a post here from another Fusion owner. It is most noticeable when making a turn in the vehicle, as the defect is most pronounced when looking through the glass at an angle, such as looking to the right through the passenger side of the glass. I also sat in the passenger side of the vehicle and looked through the glass at an angle on the driver's side and can see the defect there as well. It does not seem to be a problem when looking straight ahead through the glass. The defect is a series of 'lines' vertically throughout the glass so that the glass looks warped. I have not contacted the dealership about this yet but will bring it to their attention when the first service is due.

Low visibility out of the rear windshield can pose a danger when backing up in parking lots or out of driveways since sometimes the road cannot be seen and distance to other vehicles cannot be estimated. No backup warning system was available as an add-on like the Ford explorer and other Ford models. This should be a standard feature in all models of the vehicle as it would provide safety in backing of the vehicle if not at least an option to add to the purchase.
My windshield had serious distortions throughout the entire glass. Varying degress of magnification caused eye strain and headaches. It was dangerous driving the vehicle in this condition and not a pleasant experience. My dealership replaced the windshield only to have the new one be even worse. The new windshield is so bad it's as though I'm looking through a wet windshield that has not been wiped. The dealership has acknowledged the replacement is bad and that it might be indicative of a larger problem. They plan on contacting Ford. I've had the car for only one week at the time of typing this.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion sport (na). The contact observed that the front windshield was cracked after the vehicle had been parked for twenty four hours. There were no cracks prior to this discovery. The crack originated on the passenger side of the windshield and extended across to the center of the driver's side. The vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer, but was not repaired. The repair would cost $600. The technician stated that a rock may have struck the windshield and caused the failure along with the heat. The defect was visible on the windshield during excessive outdoor temperatures. The windshield was not covered under the service warranty. The vehicle is in the process of being taken to an authorized dealer again for inspection and repair. The VIN was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 1,300.
