I bought the care in April 2017,within a moth I started smell car outside the car when ever I started it. You car smell it up to 75 ft away. Towards the front and drivers side. It s burnt gas. Just like you were filling you gas tank. I took it to my dealer for a check up 5/6 times for this issue. Each time they say nothing wrong and they can't smell the gas. Yet my salesman and other customers in the parking lot has smelled it. Strangers in the grocery store and smelt it and warned me. Including a Ford mechanic who advised me to take it to a shop. He was from a different Ford dealer. My CO-workers smell it. My gas levels are showing it as well. At the time this started I was still under manufacturer warranty at 57. 000. Now @ 64. 000. Have extended. Found out same car with larger engine has same problem however the dealer refuses to believe maybe me car or the engine may have same problem. Service bulletin:16-00452013-2016 cars. Pcv valve part ej726758b. This was found by a friend a Ford engineer. Even he said it s possible the smaller engine could have the same problem. However the dealer won't even look at it. What do I do? now I hear a rattling sound upfront in the engine area. I only drive approx. 12 miles a say unless I go grocery shopping. Like I said it's a 2016 with 64,000, beautiful car. Just this one issue. Can't smell when driving only when parked. Only from outside of car! it is not the exhaust like I said it is clean unburnt gas! this happens daily.

Intermittently the vehicle would idle rough after filling gas tank. Also after a 30 min or so drive it would stall after exiting the freeway and then be very difficult to restart and idle very rough. It would also make a popping noise that would come from the gas tank.

When filling gas tank it seems to have air in the tank. Sometimes after filling the car won't start for a couple minutes and when it does, it sputters like it will cut off, but after you get it running it's okay. Also, you can never get the same full tank distance, it will vary each fill up with the same fuel economy with each fill up.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while stationary, after filling the fuel tank with 3/4 of fuel, a loud rattling noise sounded from the vehicle. The contact stated that the loud rattling noise sounded as if the exhaust may have made contact with the fuel tank. The contact is an independent mechanic and inspected the vehicle but could not find the source of the failure. The contact highlighted that the fuel tank rattling noise only sounded when the tank was 3/4's full. In addition, the contact stated that the noise became more prominent in colder temperatures. A dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000. Ad.

1. When pumping gasoline, the lever clicks off every 1-2 seconds, taking long time to fill gas tank, and never knowing if over-filling. I must repeatedly turn the ignition on/off/on in order to see the gas gauge. 2. The body dents easily.
The 2013 Ford Fusion se with the 1. 6 and 2. 0 ecoboost engines is supposed to have a 16. 5 gallon fuel tank capacity yet I'm only able to get 13. . Read more...
My vehicle issued a warning " check fuel fill inlet" after filling my tank. It was very hard to fill and the pump kept shutting off. I read the manual and followed the procedure as directed to resolve the problem. Approximately 3 driving cycles later, the light went off. I refueled yesterday and fuel began leaking out from the fuel filling port and down the side of the car. I stopped several times and cleaned the spill. I finally gave up and stopped at half a tank. I went to the dealer today and was told this issue (replacing the fuel filler neck) was not part of the 8 year/ 80,000 mile emissions warranty in California and would not be covered. This is not only a safety issue but an envirionmental issue as well. I am highly concerned that Ford can pick and choose what items are warranted when in fact the entire system is fully integrated and relates to all other functions in the system. The safety issue endagers not just myself but anyone at the gas station at the time. I believe a recall should be ordered. When doing myy research about this issue I have found this to be a very common defect in Ford Fusions.

Noticed fuel smell and fuel on ground after filling up car. Took car to dealership and they checked under the car and said the gas tank may have a crack on the top. Suggested to only fill up half way and tank should not leak. We filed a complaint with Ford and are waiting for reply.
This car has a 16. 5 gallon gas tank but it only fills u to 13. 00 gallons. There is a TSB for this car but Ford refuses to admit the problem is the gas tank and help me. . Read more...
Car keeps displaying check fuel fill inlet, now check engine light is on. While filling tank at local gas station strong smell of fuel around and inside of car. This has happened on more than one occassion. Obd ii reads code p0455. This is unsafe in many ways, explosives are to dangerous to mess with. No resolution from Ford motor company on this issue.
Every time the vehicle gets gas, it doesn't even need to be a fill up, the entire passenger compartment is consumed with gas fumes. We took it to Ford dealers and they say there is no problem you're probably just over filling it when you get gas or they are spilling gas but that is not the issue at all, I'm positive about it. We contacted Ford corporate and they sent us to another dealer who said the same thing. I think there may be a problem which would require removal of the gas tank and they just don't want to do it. Has there been any safety recalls about this? this car is my mothers and I don't know how she hasn't passed out while driving from the fumes, it really is terrible and we have no answers. I'm a former mechanic from years and years ago and know there is a problem here, maybe a vacuum hose or fitting or the gas tank itself, I see online other years had a similar problem above the gas tank with a plastic fitting cracking. She has been dealing with this problem since she got this car two or three years ago. She did have another car hit her from behind on the drivers side bumper when parked and it was repaired at a body shop but the car was taken to the dealers after that time.

I've been having an issue with my gas tank since I've owned the car since oct 2012. When I fill up, the car sometimes fills all the way on the gauge, sometimes it doesn't. If it does it drops from full to half a quarter by 10-20 miles. Also, ive never been able to fill up to around 16 gallons. The car is supposed to have a 16. 5 gallon fuel tank. I run the car to approx 12 miles left, till the warning light comes on and I can only get roughly 12 gallons in the tank. Either the tank that was installed is wrong or the computer gauge is off. I'm only able to drive about 315 on a "full" tank. That is not right for a car that's supposed to be a 27-37mpg car. Which I only get about 24-26mpg since I've owned the car. I do a mix of highway and city driving, mostly highway averaging 45mph driving. I've told brien Ford in everett of this issue but they wont look at it since it hasn't been recognized by Ford. There's a really big response to this issue on many forums. . Read more...
