The dealer is saying that the car needs a purge solenoid repair or replacement as well as rear shocks. When I looked this up on a 2016 Ford Fusion it states this is the most are one of the most common issues the purge solenoid the dealers trying to charge me almost $500 for this repair and I guess I’m reaching out to the Ford company itself or somebody that can help so my name is [xxx] and my phone number is [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/04/2026

I own a 2015 Ford Fusion se. I bought it used when it only had 47,000 miles on it. Over the course of time since buying it in Dec 2022 until now, it has had low coolant that I have had to address but no visible leaks. Current mileage now is 87,100 and just recently the coolant was low again and the check engine light came on for dtc p0301 -cylinder 1 misfiring. It has had rough start ups, rough idle, decreased acceleration, and poor fuel efficiency. I have found the problem to be coolant intrusion – engine defect concern “coolant intrusion” is a known engine design defect in which coolant leaks into the cylinders, leading to internal damage, misfires, and eventual engine failure. After researching it I found that many other people have had the very same issue with no help from Ford. This should be a recall as this is an internal issue with the short block and something that should have been disclosed before purchasing this model/engine. The only repair that will fix the core of the issue is replacing the entire short block which costs thousands of dollars, way more than the cost of the entire vehicle at this point. Without fixing the issue, the engine will fail. Again, this should be something Ford should pay to repair, not any customer who came into this blind.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/04/2026

There is a problem with the purge valve causing my vehicle to rough idle and even cut off on me in the middle of traffic and even on the interstate. This issue is going on with a plethora of people with the same year make and model as me yet no recall has been issued. When I put gas in the car it won’t start for some time. If I’m not constantly pressing the accelerator the car will turn off by itself.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/04/2026

The entire engine/motor.

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/01/2026

Formal complaint – 2018 Ford Fusion 1. 5l ecoboost – engine block defect statement of issue:I am writing to report a premature engine failure on my 2018 Ford Fusion 1. 5l. The vehicle is exhibiting all symptoms of the well-documented "coolant intrusion" defect described in Ford technical service bulletin (TSB) 22-2222. Despite following all recommended maintenance intervals, the engine block has failed, allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber. Observations:confirmed coolant loss with no external leakage found via pressure test. Significant white smoke and rough idle upon cold start. Desired resolution: since this is a known manufacturing defect involving the engine block's cooling channels—and not a result of wear and tear—I am requesting a "goodwill repair" for a long-block replacement. The current TSB denial based on [8 years] is unacceptable for a known catastrophic design flaw that compromises vehicle safety.

8 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/13/2026

My 2013 Ford Fusion equipped with the 1. 6l ecoboost engine started blowing thick white smoke (burning coolant) while I was driving on the freeway. Engine coolant was leaking and my card died right there, that had blown the head gasket. I received no warning, no message. This was an incredibly dangerous situation because I was on the freeway and was forced to stop immediately. Ford motor company has refused to include my vehicle’s VIN in the applicable recall programs despite my vehicle experiencing the same issues described in NHTSA recalls 12v551000 (Ford campaign 12s41) and 17v209 (Ford campaign 17s09) the recalls identify issues involving coolant loss, overheating, insufficient warning of coolant loss, potential engine damage, cylinder head damage, and the risk of engine compartment fire. My vehicle exhibited these same symptoms and consequences which can be confirmed by the autobody shop where it was evaluated. The purpose of these recalls was to address a known safety concern involving the 1. 6l ecoboost engine cooling system. Despite this, when I contacted Ford and requested assistance and asked that my VIN be added to the recall population, Ford denied my request and stated that my vehicle was not included. I believe this decision fails to address the fact that my vehicle experienced the same defect and safety risk identified in the recall documents. The safety issue is not limited to the vins currently listed in the recall population; rather, my vehicle demonstrates the same failure mode that prompted the recalls. My concern is that vehicles equipped with the same engine and experiencing the same defect may continue to pose a safety risk to drivers and passengers. A coolant loss event and overheating condition can result in significant engine damage, sudden loss of vehicle operation, costly repairs, and the potential for an engine compartment fire. Respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and that Ford be required to re-evaluate their decision.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/10/2026

I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue involving my 2015 Ford Fusion. The vehicle experiences intermittent power steering failure while driving. The steering assist will suddenly disengage and re-engage without warning, making the vehicle extremely difficult to control. This condition becomes even more dangerous in wet weather, where the vehicle is sometimes nearly undriveable. Additionally, I am now experiencing a popping noise in the steering wheel. This raises concern of a possible mechanical failure consistent with known recalls involving steering wheel bolt defects that could result in the steering wheel detaching. These issues are consistent with known recalls, including: - power steering failure recall (15v340000) - steering wheel bolt recall (18v167000 / 18s08) despite these known safety defects, Ford has refused to repair the issue, stating that the recall has expired. This presents a serious safety hazard, including risk of loss of steering control, crash, injury, or death. I am requesting immediate investigation and enforcement of manufacturer responsibility for this safety-related defect.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 03/17/2026

2018 Ford Fusion se 1. 5l ecoboost, just purchased the car 10 days ago and I already have antifreeze that's mixing with the oil causing the car to overheat and white smoke coming from the back cannot drive the car took it to three mechanics they told me it needs a new turbo and a head gasket which will cost well over $4,000 which I don't have the money that I bought the car with I borrowed from family members so I can go back to work and I don't have money to fix it so at the moment I am unemployed because I have no vehicle to get to work this is a major problem. My father before he passed away had a 2017 Ford escape with the same engine and he had the same problem he sold it for $1500 lost 14 grand on it.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 03/12/2026

- there is a crack in the engine block; coolant is leaking into cylinder 3. I am having the car taken by carvana on 3/30 and it will no longer be available for inspection, but I have record of the mechanical issues from taking the vehicle into the dealership on 3/18. - my/others safety was not immediately at risk, but I know that my engine could have blown while driving, causing an accident or even an engine fire. - as stated, issue was confirmed by dealer, and I have records of this - n/a - check engine light appeared on approximately 3/5; was unable to have car inspected right away and continued driving. Started to get intermittent errors stating that the engine was overheating/coolant was low on 3/12. Stopped driving car more than 2 miles at a time after this. Boyfriend correctly diagnosed issue on 3/15 and I had the issue confirmed by dealer on 3/18.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 03/04/2026

Powertrain light came on and threw code p1450 and car went into limp mode. Car will stall at stops and lights and won't go over 40. Replaced the canister purge valve which turned light off but it immediately came back once trying to over 40 and went back into limp mode. Everything I have read and ai has said based on diagnostic information says it's the electronic throttle body which has a recall for this model and year of car but not this VIN for some reason.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

17 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/20/2026

There is a problem with the purge valve on the Ford Fusion. Car will not start after pumping gas. You have to step on the gas pedal several times and then the car will turn on. After doing research there seems to be several people with the same problem. The purge valve on the canister is getting stuck letting the fumes come in making the system run with extra fuel that’s escaping.

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/01/2026

I have a check engine light on due to an issue in the emissions system. The issue is that the purge valve is stuck open. I know that this is an issue that you had a recall on for older models of the Ford focus for this same reason. All the systems of a stuck purge valve are the issues I am having with the vehicle.

19 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 01/22/2026

Engine catastrophicly over revs when charging and plugged in phev plug.

20 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/15/2025

My Ford started making a loud noise whenever the accelerator wasn't being pressed, after taking it to the mechanic, he said it is the cracked flex plate. After some light research, it was aparent that this is an issue that Ford's cars have, and Ford has tried to make it better by offering free fixes. I contacted the local Ford dealer and since the car has 90,000 miles, it would have been covered. However, since it doesn't have a clean title, I was declined this service free of charge. I don't agree with this decision since I've been driving this car for over a year since it was purchased off iaa auction, and this issue was made clear only yesterday, but this issue is prevalent in cars like mine. The damage to my car specifically was to the back, and only affected the rear bumper and trunk. Therefore I don't think it is fair that I was declined the serve even though Ford has made it clear it is there manufacturing mistake and they are willing to fix it, just not with cars with my type of title. I was hoping to send in this incident so that this issue becomes a national recall, and more people can get their cars rightfully fixed and aware of this serious issue that can make the car completely unusable before it gets too late. I wasn't aware this was a common issue when purchasing this car, so a recall would protect more people since it will become mandatory information for owners to be aware of this issue. Thank you!.

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/04/2025

"the incident occurred immediately after shifting the vehicle into reverse and starting to move. The engine suddenly shut down with a 'system performance' alert, and cooling fans engaged at maximum speed. Moments later, a thermal runaway event began in the high-voltage li-ion battery pack, leading to a catastrophic fire. This is directly related to recall 23v440 / 23s33 (becm failure). The fire was extinguished by the local fire department in telavi, georgia (country). ".

22 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/04/2025

I am reporting a life-threatening incident involving my 2020 Ford Fusion phev. On December 5, 2025, while my wife was driving on a public street, the vehicle suffered a sudden, complete engine failure followed by smoke and fire originating from the high-voltage battery pack in the trunk. There were no prior warning signs or dashboard alerts before the incident. This vehicle was sold via iaai auction in September 2023 without disclosing the active, critical safety recall (NHTSA 23v440 / Ford 23s33) issued in June 2023. This non-disclosure placed my family in extreme danger. When the fire started, my wife was in a state of panic. I arrived at the scene before emergency services. Being a technician, I performed a high-risk manual extraction of the burning battery pack to prevent the entire vehicle and the surrounding residential area from a potential explosion. I risked electrocution and toxic chemical exposure to save lives. The damaged battery pack is currently preserved and available for professional inspection upon request. As a result of the fire and exposure to extinguisher chemicals, I suffered respiratory distress and asthma-like symptoms for several days. I have contacted Ford motor company through official channels and documented all interactions. Ford representatives stated that they 'only assist customers in the united states' and local representatives in [xxx] have officially refused to provide the remedy, stating they are not authorized or equipped for this specific recall. I am now left with a charred, unusable vehicle. I demand a full investigation into the failure of the recall remedy process and manufacturer liability for these life-threatening damages. ( form fields about my location are place holders. Contact me in [xxx] (country) at [xxx] / [xxx] ]. I hope you do don't ignore our lives due to geography. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

24 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/10/2025

In early October 2025, the vehicle was taken to an independent dealership service department for a routine oil change. Several weeks later, the vehicle appeared to be leaking fluid and began experiencing loud knocking/clacking noises, significant vibration, and drivability concerns, especially during acceleration. On October 10, 2025, while parked at a family member’s residence, the vehicle would not start. Due to safety concerns, the servicing dealership arranged for the vehicle to be towed for inspection. Technicians found a split transmission hose causing transmission fluid loss, which was repaired; however, the abnormal noises, vibration, and drivability issues persisted. Further inspection identified loud popping/clacking noises from the bell housing area. The technician physically inspected the flex plate and documented that the flex plate was cracked. The dealership advised that a cracked flex plate can worsen, cause severe vibration, damage related components, and lead to drivability issues or potential loss of propulsion. Because of the nature of the failure and symptoms, the vehicle was removed from regular use due to safety concerns. The vehicle was later taken to a manufacturer-authorized Ford dealership, which confirmed flex plate failure but stated the vehicle did not qualify for a customer satisfaction program due to engine variant. A goodwill/financial assistance request was submitted and denied. Technician diagnostic documentation from the manufacturer-authorized dealership was requested but not provided prior to filing this complaint. No crash or injury occurred; however, the failure created a risk of sudden inability to propel the vehicle while driving, including at highway speeds. The vehicle remains unrepaired and parked due to cost and safety concerns.

25 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/06/2025

According to auto zone, after being placed on scanner, the power train system (p0456) has a evaporative emissions system leak (very small leak) diagnosed at 76,919miles. Ford dealership says they cannot find a problem. When I put gas in the car I have to sit and wait at least 10 minutes before my car will start again. It takes a couple of tries and much hesitation, but it will start. Once you get started it has difficulty accelerating or may slow down on its own. Again, Ford dealership reports they can't seem to find a problem. When I told them the problem, they came up with a price to charge me to fix something they could not find. Ridiculous!! my Ford app clearly states check engine problem detected, but nooooo they cannot find anything wrong. Two different dealerships. Thank god I keep my paperwork because others are complaining of the same thing. They have to put the pen to the paper or we will never get a recall.

26 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/21/2025

Have had to replace the same 2 coil pacs in last three months. Car will not accelerate properly will not shift into gears properly took to have information test done keeps coming back fouled 2 & 4 coils.

29 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/12/2025

Fuel pump failure. Vehicle is emitting gas from the exhaust system in the back. Not processing fuel as it should. High safety risk.

30 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/24/2025

1. After vehicle is given gas it won’t crank. 2. Tire sensors won’t turn off. Even with brand new tires and mounts. 3. Random electrical malfunctions. (flickering dash lights, delayed engine start after turning the key, light bouncing back and forth between gears, etc. ).

31 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/08/2025

For the past year, I have been dealing with a recurring check engine light on my Ford Fusion related to diagnostic trouble code p0301 – cylinder 1 misfire. Despite multiple repair attempts by qualified mechanics, the issue continues to return, leaving me with mounting repair bills, lost confidence in my vehicle, and serious concerns about its reliability and safety. Every time the check engine light has appeared, I have taken my vehicle in for diagnosis and repair. Each time, I was assured the problem had been fixed. However, the repair would only last anywhere from a week to a month before the exact same code would return. I have now experienced this issue on August 8 2025, January 9 2026, April 20 2026, may 19 2026, and June 1 2026. I have paid to address the same problem, along with related repairs, five separate times. Even more concerning, my vehicle has broken down and left me stranded on the side of the road three out of those five occurrences. No vehicle owner should have to repeatedly face the same unresolved issue after spending significant money on repairs and maintenance. After conducting extensive research, I discovered that I am far from alone. I have found numerous reports from other Ford Fusion owners experiencing the exact same cylinder 1 misfire issue, many of whom have also been unable to find a permanent solution despite repeated repairs. This appears to be a widespread problem affecting many customers, not an isolated incident. As a Ford customer, I expected a dependable vehicle that I could trust to safely get me where I need to go. Instead, I have spent the last year dealing with recurring failures, unexpected expenses, and the constant fear of being stranded again. When so many owners are reporting the same defect with no lasting repair available, it raises a serious question: why has this issue not been investigated for a recall or other manufacturer supported corrective action? I urge Ford to thoroughly investigate this recurring issue.

32 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

I would like to respectfully request that my 2018 Ford Fusion, with the 1. 5l ecoboost engine, be considered for inclusion in the customer satisfaction programs related to the engine issues I'm experiencing. Despite my vehicle not being initially listed, the problems I've encountered, including the diagnostic trouble code p0302 and the coolant leak into cylinder #2, suggest that it may be suffering from a similar defect or design flaw that the program aims to address. Given the safety risks associated with the current condition of my vehicle, I believe it would be fair and reasonable to include it in the program and provide the necessary repairs or replacements to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate. I would appreciate your assistance in facilitating this process and exploring options for resolving this issue in a manner consistent with the treatment of similar vehicles.

33 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

Engine has cylinders flooding with coolant due to the design of the ecoboost engine.

34 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/10/2025

Coolant intrusion, coolant and oil is mixing causing my car to run hot. Engine light keeps coming on, repairs to multiple pumps replaced, water pump replaced, spark plugs replaced, radiator replaced, thermostat replaced. Ford dealership tried replacing all the above vehicle is still running hot. Now claiming I need a new engine.

35 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/19/2025

Shift lever does not select accurate gear due to worn bushing (NHTSA 22v-413, oem 22s43): a degrading bushing attaching the shifter cable to the transmission in certain 2013-2019 Ford vehicles, including the 2016 Fusion, may detach, preventing proper gear selection and potentially causing unexpected movement. Dealers will replace the bushing and add a protective cap.
