36 Body problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/10/2023

While driving on route 95 the passenger door became unlatched. This happened several times (4~6 ?) on our long (12 hr) drive. I researched and saw that there was a recall for this exact problem for 2015 Mustangs, but none for 2016. I have seen multiple reports from other 2016 Mustang owners that they have encountered the same issue.

37 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

38 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/10/2023

The doors on both passenger and drivers side keep unlatching while driving. It happens quite often, 4 times this week on one 200 miles trip. I took it to the dealer who said the locking mechanisms were faulty. The dealer replaced both of them $1200. 00. My question there was a recall on this problem involving several years including 2015. But my car was not included even though it obviously has the same problem. Is there anything that can be done to cover an obvious safety hazard?.

39 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/07/2023

There is a crack in the metal weld of the vehicle by both top corners of the windshield. This crack has allowed water into the interior of the car and soaked the side airbag in between the driver door and windshield.

40 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 12/28/2022

The gas tank was only getting 10 gallons of gas and not 16 gallons like it was suppose to. We ended up running out of gas on a road trip with our two young daughters in the middle of the night on I-75. The gas tank said you had 100 miles to go before empty and then 3 miles later it would drop to 0 and you were running out of gas. This car was used in street racing which was late devulged to us after we found out that at 20,000 miles a whole new engine was put in without our knowledge when we purchased the vehicle . We took it to the dealer and they put a new fuel assembly unit in it. It fixed the problem a little but never fully. Now, 2 days ago my husband with my youngest daughter ran out of gas again on us-19 and I had to leave work to go get them and gas. Next on the 57 things wrong with this car… 5 days after purchase it had 22 engine warning. Took it back and they replaced the 4th coil and the 4th injector and spark plug. About 3 days later my husband came flying into his work, ran by me grabbing a fire extinguisher and ran to the car and started shooting it at the car, the car had caught on fire and the 4th injector was spewing gas. They had pinched an oring while installing the injector and never put the clips back on the injector rail to keep them in place. My husband could have been killed easily. The dealership never took ownership for it and blamed it on the dealership that sold us this the car. Every time we turn around it’s something else. The month of December we only had the car 6 days. It was in the shop 3 different. Times and everytime we got it back it wasn’t fixed. We bought this car in September and it had had 52 engine lights, over 10,000 in parts and labor to fix. Four rentals cars a new battery list goes on. We have tried numerous times to ask the dealership to make this right and their answer is for us to sell them the car back less our 20,000 deposit and buy a whole new car from them. That’s the solution we were given.

42 Body problem of the 2019 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/07/2022

Passenger door unlocked and opened by itself while driving 75mph with no one in the passenger seat. Appears to be the same issues as the 2011 - 2017 Mustang recall.

43 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/24/2022

The passenger door unlatches while the vehicle is in motion. The dealer has reported that this had already been fixed, but it is still happening. It is a major safely issue that needs to be resolved. I can provide video footage.

44 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/15/2022

The passenger door opened by itself by driving in a highway. There was no one seating in the passenger seat, no bumps, just in the middle of the highway at 65 miles per hour. Is the 4th or 5th time this happened the last year.

45 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/30/2022

Passenger side door pops open while driving at high speed after small bumps in the road. This has happened at least a dozen times. Is Ford waiting for a child to fall out of the car?? a google search turns up many complaints on the same issue.

46 Body problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/13/2022

While on a road trip and driving aprx 70 mph, the passenger door released to the secondary latch position and the "passenger door ajar" light came on. After stopping and opening and closing (and locking) the door, the light went off. However, later it released again. The driver side door also released in the same manor. There were four occasions of this happening. After returning home, I did some research and found Ford's customer satisfaction program 21n10 dated 12-15-2021, which states criteria in which my vehicle falls (mustang, model year, assembly plant, build dates). I contacted my dealership and was told that my vehicle's VIN was not included in their "oasis" VIN report, and that they would not honor the terms of the program.

47 Body problem of the 2018 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/29/2022

Driving at highway speeds, the passenger door suddenly unlatched and "door adjar" notification warning was displayed. Had to exit the highway in order to close and secure door. I have previously reported this same issue, to NHTSA several times before. I have video of the incident.

48 Body problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/07/2022

The locked doors are randomly unlatching when I hit a bump. It’s happened several times on one side or the other and usually when I’m driving at high speed on the freeway. My young daughter was in the front seat when it happened again and it was very scary as the door was barely closed. If she had her arm leaning on it, it would have opened completely. I’ve had to rush into the emergency lane to close it again. These doors are locked when I start driving. I know there’s a recall on the 2015 Mustang but I didn’t see one for the 2016. This is a convertible so I understand the doors are heavier and maybe this is a factor but it’s dangerous and Ford has been anything but conscientious regarding public safety issues with these Mustangs including the infamous bank 8 misfires with the engine. Many people have had this and are forced to buy new engines on vehicles with mileage as low as 60,000 miles. Mine has been recently doing this as well.

49 Body problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/01/2022

A complete failure of the electrical system due to a design flaw where a main electrical wire harness inside the firewall on the drivers side fills up with water over time and soaks the wire harness causing a complete failure of the car to operate. This leading to a breakdown in traffic and dangerous necessity to get out into traffic to escape electrical smoke.

50 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 03/26/2022

The passenger door latch failed when driving at higher speed (70 mph). While driving on the turnpike at 70 mph, the passenger door unlatched while the passenger seat was occupied. The car had to be pulled over and come to a complete stop in order to close the door and have it re-latch. This happened twice in the span of an hour. It has happened on three other occasions but was thought to be a one-off occurrence each time.

51 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/16/2022

The passenger and driver door open (ajar) occasionally at freeway speeds. It has happened 6-7 times since February.

52 Body problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/11/2022

I would like to file a complaint against Ford in regards to a door latch issue with my 2016 Mustang convertible. Starting in April 2021, the passenger side door will become unlatched on it's own while driving even with doors locked. It doesn't open entirely but enough to trip "door ajar" light and interior lights. Since that time in April it happened in June of 2021 and again in August after which I took car to a dealer. Door came unlatched at normal speeds between 40 and 60 mph. The car is under an extended warranty from Ford and the car now has approximately 37,000 miles on it. I am the original owner. The dealer kept car for about a weeks time and said they could not duplicate it. They told me warranty wouldn't honor it since they couldn't duplicate the issue and it would cost around $600 to fix possible issues. They asked me several questions implying I was imagining it or I didn't know what I was talking about. I've been driving for about 50 years. Since August, it has happened 2 more times, once at highway speed on 10/17/21 and again yesterday, 01/11/21 also at highway speed. This time my son was sitting in passenger seat. He is a Ford trained mechanic although he doesn't work for Ford but works on Ford police fleet cars. I do believe this is a safety issue but Ford will not address the issue. I took it to Ford corporate and they backed the dealer. I believe it will only get worse as time progresses. Wouldn't cover under warranty but if I wanted to pay they would do whatever I wanted them to do.

53 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 11/19/2021

While driving my 2015 Ford Mustang 70 mph, my passenger side door opened. I had to reach across to pull it closed and nearly lost control of my vehicle. If I had lost control of my vehicle, other motorists would have been harmed. This has happened multiple times since owning the vehicle. I took it to Ford to get it looked at & found out there were 3 safety recalls; 20s30, 15s16, & 16s30. These recalls were supposed to inspect and fix a defective door latch. If it isn’t fixed, there is potential for the door to unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury. This recall affected 2. 15 million Ford vehicles. These include the 15 Ford Mustang, 2013-2015 Ford c max, 2013-2015 Fordescape, 2012-2015 Ford focus, 2015 Lincoln mkc, & 2014-2016 Ford transit connect I spoke with the Ford service center in clearwater, FL on June 9th, 2022. They inspected the door latch and stated that it needed to be changed. This defective latch should have been fixed in the previous recall. They only checked the part number. If it wasn’t a certain part number, they marked it as passing and potentially putting thousands or even millions of unsafe vehicles back on the road. My vehicle has a defective door latch and should have been replaced! Ford basically lied to the NHTSA and put millions of drivers at risk on the roads. I contacted Ford customer support and asked them to rectify this since it was missed they basically rushed me off the phone and told me to fix it on my own. I’m appalled that Ford would show such a lack of concern for millions of motorists. I sincerely hope the NHTSA can do something about this.

56 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/27/2021

When driving on highway 60-80 mph after maybe 40-50 minutes the driver door unlatches, the door ajar alert comes on. The passenger door has also opened, not at the same time. The problem is mostly the driver door. It is very traumatizing to be driving and feel the door unlatch at high speeds on highway. I have reported this multiple times please issue a safety recall to include this model as well.

57 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/20/2021

Traveling on highway passenger door became unlatched giving a door ajar warning on the dashboard. Door had been closed properly. Stopped and closed door again. About a half an hour later the driver side door became unlatched on the highway giving a door ajar warning on the dash. This door had also had been properly closed.

58 Body problem of the 2019 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/05/2021

On several occasions, the passenger door becomes unlatched while driving. Sometimes multiple times in one commute. The door doesn't fully open, but certainly allows for wind noise and "door ajar" display to go off with audible alarms. Also, the passenger window's auto/short drop feature isn't working and the window does not go back up fully, allowing water, insects, and other hazards to enter the cabin of the vehicle. It seems to be an electrical issue, as unplugging the battery with the door open as the window is rolling down automatically will temporarily fix the issue. But, as soon as the door is opened, or the window is lowered, the issue reappears.

61 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/03/2021

The information was not on the vehicle other than the VIN. I called purvis Ford in fredericksburg, va and was told the inspection to find the information was not free as it said in the recall notice. I must pay a tech service fee for them to inspect the car doors for the recall information. I said fine I would like to make an appointment for the inspection. The appointment given was for October 26, 2021 as this was the soonest they could get me in. I did not make the appointment as they clearly did not want my business.

62 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/23/2021

The passenger door keeps opening randomly when I am driving. It’s very scary since I have younger kids riding in the passenger.

63 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/18/2021

My drivers side door will fly open while driving with no warning.

64 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/16/2021

Two times within the last two months, my passenger door has become ajar while driving down the highway. When I stopped and went around the car to shut it back completely, it was opened quite a bit - approx two inches or so. I was shocked and this is very scary. I have read many many other people have had this same problem with their 2017 convertibles and other year models as well and this is dangerous. I suggest you put a recall out for my model before you end up getting sued for a wrongful death where someone falls out the door.

65 Body problem of the 2018 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/11/2021

Driver and passenger door unlatches at highway speeds. I have owned this vehicle for 10 months and this has happened once on the driver side door and several times on the passenger side door. The passenger side door unlatched at highway speeds twice within 30 minutes on the last occurrence.

66 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 03/28/2021

While driving (varying speeds) the passenger or driver's door would open. The warning would say "door ajar". It has happened 8 times in the last year. Dealer said it was not a recall issue, and could not fix it because they could not recreate it problem.

67 Body problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/30/2021

In my 2016 Ford Mustang ecoboost convertible, the passenger door has opened (unlatched) many times while I have been driving. The car has not been wrecked due to my knowledge and the carfax. This doesn't occur often, but when it occurs, it happens multiple times in that day. It usually occurs when driving on the interstate. There is a recall out for 2015 fastback Mustangs for this issue. But I presume there is a similar issue with 2016s.

68 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/27/2021

I was driving approximately 40-45 mph and t- boned another vehicle that pulled out in front of us. I slammed on the brakes, and slowed our speed down as much as possible. The driver side airbag knee airbag deployed. The passenger side attempted to deploy but didnt.

69 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

The passenger side door will open randomly while driving. This has happened multiple times in the course of a day.

70 Body problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 12/11/2020

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact noticed blister on the hood of the vehicle. The contact called the local dealer and sent photos of the fractured hood via email. The dealer called back to inform the cause of the blister was due to the corrosion. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact was referred to a collision shop. The vehicle was taken to the collision shop and was informed that hood needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to another local dealer, five star Ford of warner robins (900 russell pkwy, warner robins, GA 31088, (478)215-8381) and was provided with same information and informed that the hood needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 3,400.
