1 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/14/2025

While parked all day with the ignition off and lights off, I returned to find the brake lights and third brake light illuminated. The lights stayed on even after moving the brake pedal. I discovered a small broken plastic bumper on the floorboard, which appears to be the brake pedal stop bumper associated with recall 22v011. This failure causes the brake light circuit to remain closed, leaving the brake lamps on continuously, potentially confusing other drivers and draining the battery. No crash occurred.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/22/2025

Automatic breaking engaged too sensitively, the driver infront of me had stopped a few yards away and I was already starting to stop when the vehicle suddenly stopped. The driver behind me almost rear ended me. This was at a green light.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/11/2025

The brake sensor position pad sensor deteriorated. Causing the system to read that the brakes were being applied. This makes the brake lights staying on even when the key is turned off. This is safety since with the lights always being it there is no way for others to know when you are actually stopping. And it also makes the car be able to be started by accident. Even with no key fob. It also causes the lights being on and the ignition to be ready start to drain the battery. Ford used inferior material for the stop pad. It is a hard plastic piece instead o being either metal or rubber. There is a lot of info on Mustang form sights about this happening around the 8 year mark.

5 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/24/2025

Brake stop lamps remain on when I was driving, my car was having throttle/acceleration issues. When I had my foot on the gas, my car would accelerate and the rpms would rise, but then all of a sudden the acceleration stopped as if I was not applying throttle. I had to constantly take my foot off the gas and reengage for the car to drive home. When I parked my car, I noticed that my brake lights were all on even though my car was turned off & it is draining the battery out. I did some research & found out there is a recall for this issue (22s02) for the 2015 Ford model & dealership mentioned that recall doesn't apply to my vehicle. So I have to get the repair done by replacing the break light switch & break pedal bumper assembly with my local auto zone shop and pay from my pocket.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/02/2025

My wife was pulling into her head-in parking space at work and the brakes did not slow the car down. She pressed the brakes hard. The car went over a curb and hit a fire hydrant. The fire hydrant broke off and the car rolled over it. The car went into the street and she steered it to keep it out of traffic and stopped by using the parking brake. There were no warning lights. The airbag(s) did not deploy. There were no personal injuries. The car was inspected by a repair shop and deemed a total loss. A brake line was damaged during the crash. The repair shop personnel did not think the brakes failed prior to the accident because the master cylinder had fluid in it. No other brake inspections have been done.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/20/2025

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v802000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 mph, the instrument cluster went black. The contact was in a parking lot and had stopped the vehicle. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and regained instrument panel functionality. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but became a recurring failure while driving at various speeds. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, while following a left curve in the roadway, the brake pedal was depressed, and the rear end swerved to the right while turning the steering wheel to the left. The contact stated that the instrument cluster was black, and he was not aware of any warning lights being illuminated. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and drove to the residence. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 10/10/2024

The front wheels of the vehicle have different breaks - this is a factory fault (manufacturing defect). The front right wheel has 6 piston brembo brake and the left front wheel has 4 piston caliper brakes, causing vehicle to put different braking power on both side - causing it to slid to the right side while breakin (the right wheel producing more breaking power than the left side). This is a safety hazard for me and public, the dealership I bought this car had run their own inspection before selling it to me but they passed the inspection which means they ignore this major fault. Even before that, this vehicle passed the pdi (pre-delivery inspection) at the Ford production plant and the dealership sold it to me. Its been 3 months and I experienced vibration on the front left wheel and slid towards the right side on the highway and noticed the brakes are different. This is a big issue, safety hazard, public safety risk and I went through a lot once I found this issue.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/20/2024

While driving home, driving speed was 55 mph, car engine bogged down and orange wrench icon illuminated on dash. I was not far from home and was able to continue and "limp" home. Car would not go faster than 10-15 mph. When I parked car in garage and shut car off, the brake lights stayed on. There was no warning lights or anything wrong with car before incident. Car has not been inspected by dealer or service center. Doing further research online, I was directed to look at drivers floorboard for plastic pieces. I did find broken, yellowish colored plastic pieces on floor board. According to others, which have been experiencing the same issue, the brake light switch stop bumper pad has failed. I was able to find a recall (safety recall 22s02) that has been issued for this problem, but the recall is region specific. I do not live in the regions listed in recall.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/08/2024

As I proceeded to get over on a highway with cars speeding, my car would not allow me to move over because it would not accerlate to be safe and my car slowed down as if there was no power as I had to get to the side of the highway to avoid getting hit as cars were traveling at a high rate of speed. My car then stopped and I was forced to move into the grass to avoid getting hit and causing a wreck. The speed limit was 80 mph and I was traveling at 72 mph. As I try to increase my speed but the car seemed it did not have enough power. The next day I called to report it and take it to the shop, I was informed to not drive the car for my safety. The diagnosis was that one of the fuel lines stopped working and the control module was a recall. My niece and myself was put in danger as well as the emotional fear to drive the car. This occured on June on June the 20th and the car was picked up on June the 24th. It was a recall issue. I was told by Ford corporation that because it was fixed and I was safe then the matter was closed. Next incident, I reported that my lights and radio keep going off and then dimmed. I was driving, and had no lights at certain times at night. As I passed a non-lited highway, I could not see the direction I was traveling. During a rain storm at night, I had it continued to dim then go dark then back on. This was also another recall. I was advise that it was fixed so I had recourse against the manfualted Ford corporation. At 16,000 miles, the tires had no tread because the same tires have been recalled. This stopped my ability to drively safe and advoid stopping when needed. There were other issues, the car was taken in. There is a current recall that the is no remedy, that I could lose sterring and the wheel will cause a crash. I am one of the 30,000 Mustang that are having safety problems and are in the risk of crashes. I am in fear of driving the car, was denied of a buy back insure that I am not in danger.

15 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/13/2024

There is a break pedal pad that is broken. It doesn't allow the car to accelerate correctly and car goes in limp mode. All break lights are illuminated when car is turned off. There is a recall for this, but I purchased my car in CA. I think the car was originally a nevada car. Am I still eligible for the recall even if I didn't get the notification and my state of purchase was not mentioned?.

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/19/2024

Hi, I was driving on the freeway and suddenly my car stopped accelerating. I would push the acceleration pedal but it wouldnt speed up. And for a few times it would speed up very much. This was very rapid fluctuation. I also noticed that the cruise control was not working. This was very scary being on the highway with this kind of speed fluctuation. After I came back home, I noticed that the brake light wouldnt turn off at all. After doing some research I found that the brake light switch broke and the car was sensing that the brake was being applied and hence was doing acceleration fluctuations. I also found out that there are many other same vehicles which has the same issue.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/03/2024

I was slowly backing out of a parking space at the circle k gas station on July 3, 2024, on battleground avenue in greensboro, nc, and applied the brakes when the warning alert sounded that there was cross traffic. I immediately applied the brakes, but to no avail. Application of the car's brakes, pumping the brakes, had no effect on stopping the backward motion the car. The car continued to roll backwards, and I very nearly collided with a car sweeping past the rear of my car, when I could not stop. When I drove to green Ford on July 9, 2024 and told the dealership what happened (along with an accelerator problem, which I reported separately on incident report number 11619861), the dealership inspected my car and said the failed brakes (along with the accelerator problem) could have caused by a defective battery, which the dealership then replaced under the car's warrenty. The safety of everyone in the car could have been affected had a collision occurred, especially if the car's gas tank had been damaged in a collision, and if a fire had resulted.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/18/2024

Related to regional recall 22r01, the rubber bumper on my brake pedal that engages the brake light switch failed and placed the vehicle in a low power mode. This failure occurred while merging onto the interstate and almost resulted in my being rear-ended by a semi truck. Having never been notified of this regional recall, I was able to verify this was the case after searching forums and youtube and identifying the pieces of the broken bumper in my floorboard. I find it to be horrendously unacceptable that this was allowed to be handled as a regional recall and no notice was ever produced, as it is a safety-related issue that could have resulted in grievous bodily harm. I am located in kentucky, which is not part of the named region.

20 Service Brakes problem of the 2001 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/14/2024

Abs light came on, sometimes when braking/slowing down at freeway speeds, the brakes won't catch and it feels like I'm going to ram into the cars ahead, I've replaced the rotors, the calipers, the brakes, the wheel bearings, abs light won't go away, I've looked into it on the bullitt community forums, and this is a common problem that most just decide to live with, cause no solution has been found.

21 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/13/2024

I was driving home from work and all the sudden it went into limp mode, I could barely get her home. Then I found yellow pieces of plastic in my floorboard. My brake light would not go off so I had to unplug the battery. Very scary to have that happen on the interstate, luckily I got off on an exit.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/13/2024

The brake pedal stop bumper in my car disintegrated in the middle of the day and fell off. The brake lights do not turn off anymore and the vehicle can be started and shifted without needing to press the brake. I found a recall # 22s02 for this exact issue but my vehicle is not covered by it (assuming due to region). The vehicle has not been inspected yet.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/29/2024

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Mustang. The contact stated the brake pedal stop bumper had disintegrated and the rear brake lights remained illuminated continuously while driving. The contact stated that the push-to-start feature activated without depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 22v011000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, neither the VIN nor the model year was included in the recall. The local dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

24 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/19/2024

I ran into the existing issue described in "part 573 safety recall report" NHTSA recall number 22v-011, but in a state not listed under the recall (vehicle purchased used in pennsylvania in 2017). As a result of this part failing, my brake lights remained engaged permanently, and the car's engine power would increase and decrease rapidly (presumably because it thought I kept hitting the breaks). At time of writing I still have the broken pieces of the original part. I plan to take the vehicle into service within the week. There are no warning lights when this occurs since everything I'm the car is technically "operating correctly" - it just thinks the breaks are engaged constantly, and so has erratic behavior. The original recall lists high humidity as a cause, which pennsylvania definitely has. I keep my vehicle outside 24/7, so it has definitely been part of many temperature swings.

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/14/2024

This is a known issue on the 2015 Mustangs. The recall only invlolves vehicles from certain states with high temps and or humidity but does not include the state of missouri which sees both high temps and high humidity. Dtc code p0504. Brake lamp switch has already been replaced and no issue with wiring. Positive the plastic stop bumper is the issue.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

This is a 2024 Mustang convertible that I purchased from autonation in panama city and the back window was not properly installed and is now shaking and allowing water into the car. There is a major problem with the car disabling abs as well and ive taken it to the dealership for both of these issues twice. The brakes did not function correctly when I was dropping off at school and I tapped the parents car in front of me. I went to autonation with my concern and even called Ford to file a complaint and neither of the companies took it seriously. Had I known this car was gonna be a problem and even more difficult to fix (autonation doesnt work on convertible tops and has given me the run around about finding someone to fix the top) I would have kept my older convertible. I also purchased an extended warranty when I bought this car to ensure everything was protected.

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/08/2024

The hill start assist system has detected a failure.

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 03/19/2024

The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph and making a left turn the collision avoidance system erroneously light activated although no other vehicles or structures were nearby and the braking system suddenly malfunctioned causing the brake pedal to extend to the floor while pressed causing the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall barrier. During the crash no injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was eventually towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 23v727000(electrical system). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 14,000.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/04/2024

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that with the transmission in the reverse position and while backing out of a parking space the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration, drove backwards and crashed into a second vehicle. After shifting to the drive position and the vehicle immediately accelerated forward causing the driver to loose control of the steering and crash into a tree. During the incident while pressing the brake pedal the vehicle did not stop and after crashing head on into a tree the airbags did not deploy. The driver sustained an injured ribs which did not require medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The contact indicated that five other parked vehicles were damaged during the incident. The cause of the failures were not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 43,000.

30 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 12/12/2023

I have a 2008 Ford Mustang with a v-6 engine. Recently I had to jump start it twice in a week's time to get it started and decided to take it to my dealer to have the battery checked. On the way there, I had to stop for a line of line of traffic at a red light. The instant I applied the brakes the engine started racing. I stood on the brakes as hard as I could, but could not bring the car to a complete stop. I got it slowed down to about three mph, steered it into a parking lot that was next to me, and shoved it into park. I was afraid to drive it, so I called aaa and had it towed to my dealer. I told them how the engine started to race when I applied the brakes, and that I couldn't bring the car to a complete stop. They wrote it up that the engine started running rough when I applied the brakes. That is not what I told them. They made no written reference to the unintended acceleration. This struck me as odd. Their analysis of the vehicle showed that the master cylinder and brake power booster had failed. They told me that sometimes when these components fail they can cause the engine to rev. My engine more than revved, it sounded like it was racing at full throttle. The incident shook me up quite a bit. It also seemed odd to me that two major brake components would fail at the same time. I had gotten new front and read brake pads earlier in the years and no other brake issues were discovered. Though the car has been repaired and seems to be ok, I'm somewhat skittish about driving it. I'm aware that there was a class action law suit filed against Ford in 2013 for 2002-2010 Ford vehicles claiming unintended acceleration. Though the suit was dismissed, I'm worried that the problem still exists. I know for a fact that my foot was fully on the brake pedal, and that the floor mat played no role in this issue. I had no similar issues with the car in the fifteen years prior.

35 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

The little rubber pad that it attached to the brake pedal disintegrated. Without that pad the vehicle goes into limp mode and won’t drive over 40. Don’t know why the brake switch is connected to other electronics in the vehicle that would make it go into limp mode. Very unsafe while driving on the highway.
