On 11/27/21 I was driving my 2019 Mustang gt convertible with approx 15,000 miles. While going around a curve (not at an excessive speed) on dry pavement, the car became uncontrollable and began to spin out. As much as I tried to brake and steer into the slide, the car became more and more uncontrollable and felt as though it were speeding up. I only came to a stop after slamming into a tree and rolling over to the other side of the road. Vehicle is a total loss. I was lucky and only suffered minor injuries, but it very easily could have been much worse. The police and paramedics who arrived at the scene were expecting a fatality or severe injuries. In the end I was ticketed for failure to reduce speed. I'm losing my mind explaining to the police and insurance that the car sped up on its own and all control of the vehicle were lost. I am in danger of losing my license because of this and no one is believing that this could possibly happen and convinced me to state that I was probably driving too fast. This is a deadly problem. The internet is full of videos demonstrating this same problem: complete loss of control in a low speed turn. Before you ask, I wasn't racing, I wasn't drifting, I wasn't spinning my tires or doing donuts; I was just trying to go home to my kids who almost lost their father. If there is any saved data or physical evidence that needs to be saved, action is needed ASAP before the insurance company scraps it. Also, it should be noted that in the week leading up to the accident, the rear end would become loose when going around corners. I had planned to have it addressed at the next oil change.

Electronic power steering makes a grinding noise at low speed when turning steering wheel. The noise is getting progressively louder.
Periodically receive indication of 1) steering assist fault service required 2) hill start assist not available 3) advancetrac unavailable. While these messages appear on the dash, the electric power steering system fails. This happens frequently, where there is no power steering when operating vehicle. Could be potentially dangerous while making low speed turns. The system is up to date. Local Ford service center believes the problem is the motor of the steering rack. The part is on back order with no indication of the dangerous problem being repaired any time soon.

Bought a vehicle from oxmoor Ford in louisville kentucky on August 26, 2020. Notice after driving it felt like alignment was off. On September 10, 2020 went to local dealership and they found three bad tires that had the thread/ wires showing on the inside of the three tires. That was only 15 days of having the vehicle. I talked to the gm of the dealership I got the vehicle and he stated he knew the tires were not that good however they were road safety. Whomever signed off on inspection for vehicle obviously did not tell the truth or there was not an inspection done. Gm blamed myself for not finding the problem when I bought the vehicle.

I was driving normally on the road, when suddenly my steering wheel locked. My steering assist was off, so I forcefully pulled over to the side of the road. Hill assist, service asdvancetrac and steering assist codes went off. Lights for advancetrac and hill assist are still illuminated on the dash until today. It's been a week.
The steering in my 2016 Ford Mustang eco boost would bind at the 11 o'clock position and would take much force to return to the 12 o'clock position. This happened while driving and while sitting still. I returned the car to Ford for service, who told me I have a defective "steering gear" and replace the steering gear for $3,000. 00.

Location of electric power steering is the worse possible place. Failures are common due to water damage causing power steering to stop working at any moment. Even when car is moving which could cause accidents or death.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Mustang. While driving approximately 55 mph, the power steering suddenly malfunctioned. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a curb. There was minor damage to the front passenger side wheel. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. After restarting the vehicle, the steering wheel was difficult to turn in either direction and the message "power steering system malfunction" was displayed. Approximately one week later, the steering wheel seized and could not be turned at all. Dowling Ford (1011 s. Main st, cheshire, CT) was informed of the failures. The manufacturer provided case number: 25026398. The contact also stated that the windshield wipers malfunctioned and would only operate in the high setting. The cause of the failures was not determined. The failure mileage was 88,000.

My son was driving his 2009 Mustang and after stopping at a stop sign in a residential neighborhood, he slowly accelerated and the car suddenly accelerated quickly on its own. He said the gas pedal went to the floor, he tried pushing brake and it was not stopping the car. It sent him through another intersection, he engaged emergency brake to no avail. Luckily his car went through an area of soggy grass that helped slow the car down, and came to a stop by running into hedges and resting next to a brick church. He described hearing the rpm's revving up along with the sudden acceleration. He also described the steering wheel as "locking up".

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the back up camera failed to display. While the vehicle was in reverse, the camera did not show an image and the screen was blank. The contact's son also reported that the steering wheel would move on its own and it was difficult to turn. In addition, the abs and power steering warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to medved Ford (1404 s wilcox st, castle rock, CO 80104, (303) 688-3137) where it was diagnosed that a new power steering system needed to be installed. Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Mustang. While driving 40 mph, the steering wheel inadvertently maneuvered to the right and left. The contact had to manually steer the vehicle straight again. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to sam pack's five star Ford lewisville (1144 n stemmons fwy, lewisville, TX 75067, (469) 470-4900) for diagnostic testing, but the results were unknown and the failure recurred. While making a right hand turn at approximatly thirty m. P. H. Steering went totally away mid corner causing the car to drive on center divider on a blind corner for two seconds until epas kicked back on and I was able to pull back into my lane and continue making the corner. This seposedly after program update and in normal steering mode. I didn't have time to blink and fortunatly no car was coming the other direction.
While making a right hand turn the steering completely locked up. On my console a message stating that I had a power steering assist fault showed up. Since I could not turn the wheel I had to stop immediately since it was heading into the center median. I restarted the car couple of times but the steering would not budge. Had to have a tow truck pick the car up. Took it to my mechanic who informed me that the electronic steering was completely locked up and even when up on the rack it would not budge. Since I was turning I had slowed down otherwise this could have resulted in a serious accident since I could not move the wheel at all.
I just bought a 2016 Mustang gt from a local dealership. Since then I've had my car in their shop 5 times for a intermetint extreme pull to left. I have made several attempts to have this taken care of now it is getting to the point where I am having to research possible issues and tell their mechanics. This is the 3rd car I've been through in 2 months with this same issue a 2013 Mustang gt and a 2015 Mustang gt now my newest 2016 gt as they are getting to the point of tired of me and basically telling me it's time to deal with Ford and figure out this issue and report back to them. I'm really starting g to lose faith in these vehicles.
My 2012 Mustang loose power steering making control very difficult. This is common on Mustang internet forums. Dealer says internal electronics fail. While my car is a 2012 it only has 3500 miles. Mine is stationary and then after the car cools down.
I driving home on my street and the electric power steering lock up and pull the vehicle into hard right make almost cause me to hit car. I made appointments with Ford for the 9/18/2018 spoken with service and parts there but said do know about any recall yet. This is just very dangerous can cause a accident or injuries to other drivers on the road.
Intermittent steering issues with the electronic steering, which causes the steering wheel to violently jerk out of your hands while driving. When it fails, its near impossible to turn the wheel. Happened several times in all driving situations - driving on the highway, stuck in traffic, pulling into a parking space, etc. It's extremely dangerous for my family, and ridiculous Ford hasn't issued a warranty for their steering issue.
Vehicle shut down 2 times, once in traffic, did restart, seemingly because of low system voltage caused by a parasitic draw on the battery which has been present since new. Multiple dtc's in history which I can supply, Ford of course knows nothing, but I have seen many complaints on web pages about s550 battery draw.
Bought a 2015 Mustang gt Feb 28 at 9pm with 19200 miles on it. March 1 I noticed the car had 3 different tires brands on it. The car pulls bad to the left under acceleration, when you let off the gas it pulls right. Laurel Ford did a 4 wheel alignment on the car and it still pulls. Now they say it is the struts and the orded 2 new ones for the frount. I think it is the tires not the struts but they won't replace the tires because they would haft to pay for them. They only want to replace parts that warranty will pay for. They said no way they would pay for 4 new tires. This is a safety issue ⚠️ very dangerous driving the car because it is a manuel transmisaion and every time you accelerate the car pulls left holding the wheel straight does not stop it, it still pulls left, then right when you take your foot off the gas. What Ford dealer would sell a car with 19,200 miles on it with 3 mis mached tires on it. Also the tires have different load and speed rateings on each one, like 101y, and 105y, and 100 y. I dont know wats wrong, I think laurel Ford is stalling, why???? I have had the car for 15 days now still not fixed. I guess some one will look into this after some bodys gets killed like me and what ever car I hit head on at 70 mph.
I had gotten into my car to drive and had noticed my steering wheel came loose from its mounting point. I was able to wiggle the steering wheel back and fourth while stationary and parked, but was able to also do this while driving and while turning it was very loose as well. This happened suddenly as hours prior drove with no problem. Upon visiting the Ford dealership immediately the next day I was told I would have to wait an entire week before I would be able to get an appointment. I had to go home and fix it myself. The nut that mounts the steering wheel was loose and there was almost no factory locktite.
Advanced track light kept coming on as well as traction control lights though car was fine then new years eve a driver caused me to have an accident and seconds before impact my brakes locked up, and sterring wheel locked up. I then impacted and the front passenger and driver airbags did not deploy which could of killed me and my passenger as we were both severely hurt from slamming against the steering wheel and him the dashboard. This happened on a city street irving bolivard at a speed of 40mph. Currently the crash is being investigated by my insurance company my name is jason curtis and my number is 2147721820.
T he vehicle has been balance the wheels at least 4 times in the last 2 months also replaced both front rotors the vehicle have a vibration on the steering wheel around 50 to 60 miles an hour also have a pinging metal sound when you shift . . Also a wobble in between 5 to 10 miles an hour a right rear tire was replaced no change the vehicle have only 2200 miles one Ford mechanic feels after confirm my concerns that could be drive line related . Despite my concerns Ford is contacting an engineer to look at the car dont know when even after a mechanic found this . What to me could become a safety issue . Contacted Ford corp still waiting when anyone will fix my car . I am angry of the lack of caring from Ford dealers . There many Ford Mustang owners with this problem .
3 year old vehicle with less than 20,000 miles service advance trac light comes on and power steering is lost. Took to dealership was told it was battery cost almost $300. Took home next morning same thing happens. Service advance trac and no power steering. Tool back to dealer and told its steering wheel gear going to cost $1700. Really??!! in a car 3 years old with less than 20,000 miles? this always happens immediately on starting the car.
My Mustang has the same exact same problem with the steering as the fusion and taurus which are currently on recall. . . . . Intermittent power steering loss due to an intermittent electrical connection in the steering gear. . . I would like the NHTSA to look into including the 2013 Mustang in this recall. . My Mustang only has 40,026 miles.
When car started and I put it in gear it started going but steering wheel would not turn( it was not in locked mode. )it flashed check trac system -chech engine cut car off then back on it was ok. Later I tried to crank it , it wouldnt start read where if you got out locked with key waited till lights went off unlocked it with key it would crank did this and it cranked took it to Ford place put it on computer said was a problem didnt know what would have to check every wire in car could cost up in the $3000 or more. Still doing the dance to crank car. Works most of the time sometimes have to do it twice. The steering has done the not working thing like 3 more times just hope the steering wheel does not lock up while I"m driving I have done everything they suggested on line but it hasnt fixed the problem there are a lot of cars that are doing the not starting seems to be the security system causing the problem like tho the Ford place knows nothing about the problem. Suggested I get rid of the car which I cant afford to do.
Have had issues that the car drifts to the right across lanes under any amounts of acceleration or speeds. One tire had gone completely warn over the course of several months while the problem was most noticeable. After new tires were put on the problem switched itself to steering to the left instead. The suspension and steering components were inspected as well as tire alignment. No mechanical issues have been found. To justify the cars behavior I was instead falsely accused of mishandling the car on numerous occasions and provided paperwork that claimed it was normal for Fords with electronic power steering (epas/pdc) to drift around the road on their own and that it was not a safety concern. This is one of four complaints with this car that have not been resolved.
I was driving my 2016 Mustang gt base model down a straight road with the traction control "on" and the car randomly locked all of the wheels and turned sideways into oncoming traffic and only stopping when I hit a curb. While sliding there was no throttle or brake control because the traction system locked all four wheels. I went to the Ford dealer previous to this instance to complain that the front suspension was noisy and the vehicle was hard to control on certain road surfaces and it felt very unsafe. After giving them this information they scheduled me for an appointment a week later and let me drive off. Subsequent to say, the vehicle totally lost control 3 days before the appointment. Road surface was dry, it was sunny 94 degrees and I was traveling at 40mph on a straight road and my vehicle has 26k miles. The noise and control issue was miniscule but existent on the vehicle at 14k miles and only kept getting worse. I notified the dealer of the possibility of a safety issue because of the circumstances and they were very defensive and more concerned about charging me for the damages that resulted from the vehicle malfunction. I requested that the computer logs be preserved and sent to Ford as it may be a safety issue and I was told that they would charge me extra for that and that it would be quite expensive as to discourage me from reporting it. I retained a printout of my initial complaint that was documented at the dealer upon my initial visit. Vehicle is currently under factory warranty and is being diagnosed for the front suspension noise issue.
