Many times while driving only (not parked with motor running), the accelerator becomes stuck/jammed and must be tapped several times to unstick what seems to be a ghost-driven pedal. The vehicle will sometimes unstick while moving, but I have been scared to the point of stopping the vehicle since it won't unstick and put it into park and hit the gas again. This does unstick the gas pedal.

3 occurrences of throttle sticking open when attempting to accelerate when either passing or merging onto express-way. The first occurrence was when passing a vehicle on a road shortly after a full stop going about 35-45 mph the vehicle continued to accelerate even when pumping the breaks. The 2nd time was not until about 6-8 months later while accelerating rather quickly to merge safely into traffic on an expressway and the car continued to accelerate. Slowly at first and then after getting off at next exit I barely was able to apply the breaks to pull over. I was able to shut it down and after a few minutes attempted to start car and the accelerator raced so I immediately shut it down again. After waiting 10 min. Or so I was able to restart the car and it performed like nothing had happened. I was in an area of detroit that I was not going to stay there unless I had to so I again drove making sure I slowly accelerated until getting up to expressway speed. The 3rd occurrence happened in much the same way the 1st one happened. I think my response was different this time in that I did not attempt to pump the accelerator to try and unstick. If memory serves me I went into a coast mode until I saw the tack come down to a normal rpm speed. After the 2nd occurrence I removed the floor mat from the drivers side, so I know that after it happened the 3rd time it definitely was not the result of a jammed floor mat. The weather on all 3 occasions was not wet. The 2nd and 3rd happened during this past summer. No repairs have been made although we were going to have this looked at before winter.

The accelerator sticks. Some times actually accelerates. Very hard to stop with brakes. This has occurred several times. I could usually unstick the accelerator by pressing down more on the accelerator and letting up. The problem got worse and the frequency of occurrence increased. This became a very frightening situation. Therefore, I have had work done at downtown Ford in louisville. They replaced the throttle body. This work was done this past week and so far I have not experienced any further trouble.
I just recently purchased a 2005 Ford Taurus and it was running fine for like 2 days. Then the cruise stopped working a few days later the accelerator begin to stick. I was going about 30 and suddenly the car began to take off on its on and I nearly hit the car in front of me. I had to steering off the road and pressing the brakes was very hard. This seems to be a trend for the car and is extremely dangerous!! someone should not have to die for this to be recalled!!.
I have been having problems in which the accelerator sticks while driving. It is difficult to slow the vehicle to a stop. It has also stuck when the car is started. At times the car will not start properly, only after repeated tries will it turn over.
I was driving on the freeway 15 south from temecula, CA. I exited mission/fallbrook and proceeded to go up the little incline and my accelerator stuck. I had to take on a curvy road for about 4 miles, until I could find a spot to pull over. I ended up running a red light, after running the light I put the car in neutral and hit my brakes. I finally come to a stop, right before running into the remax building. Someone needs to check into this problem. I did a google search, and found out this is not an isolated incident. I contacted Ford and file an incident report and was told this was the first time they heard of this problem. I told them to do a google search and the information is out there. I had my car towed to rancho Ford. Their diagnosis was the accelerator cord needed repairing. When I spoke to Ford I was asked what do I expect Ford to do for me?

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that when driving 35 mph and above, the vehicle would accelerate abnormally. The failure would occur intermittently and the accelerator pedal would become stuck in the open throttle position. The contact would have to apply constant, heavy pressure to the pedal before it would release. When the contact was able to stop the unintended acceleration, the engine would continue to exhibit an unusual increase in engine rpms. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the a diagnostic was not performed, and the throttle was cleaned at the contact's expense. The failure recurred within two weeks. The manufacturer advised the contact to have a diagnostic performed on the vehicle, but would provide no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 107,000.
Highway driving at 55-65 mph sometimes the accelerator sticks on my 2005 fort tarus sel. This happens about once or twice a week, but more frequent over the last week. Nothing has been done as of date to correct it. I researched on line if anyone else is having the problem and what they did. I found quite a few people with Ford are having the same problem.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Taurus. The accelerator pedal became stuck while driving 55 mph and the vehicle failed to stop. The contact was able to safely drive into a parking lot turn the vehicle off and back on. A local mechanic replaced the entire throttle body for $300. The Ford manufacturer was called and stated since there were no existing recalls the contact would assume responsibility for the repair costs. The failure mileage was 103,989.
Speed control failed and after failing noticed that accelerator sticks and holds speed rather high. So far the engine returns to normal after tapping the peddle a time or two. Upon reading however am sort of worried that sometime it may stick full power in which case would cause an accident.
Since purchasing my Taurus,v-6, 2002, I have experienced at least 4-5 " sudden, unexpected surges in acceleration; akin to a stuck accelerator pad. The acceleration was stopped only by putting the vehicle in neutral gear. The latest event occured 5-5-2005.
I have had a horrifying experience in this car. The accelerator has stuck and speed fastly exceeded. This time which I may add is the last time because I returned the vehicle to where I purchased it , I almost went underneath an 18 wheeler in steady traffic. My daughter was with me on this occasion. I will not risk her life or the lives of others including myself. I am concerned the dealer will ruin my credit but I have been seeking council and have many offers to take the case. There have been a number of other things like the air bag light, brakes have failed on separate occasions.
While in motion, consumer pressed on the accelerator to merge into traffic. The accelerator pedal stuck in the downward position. Consumer pressed again, hoping the pedal would disengage itself but to no avail.

Consumer has contacted dealer. Consumer states accelerator pedal sticks in up position at idle requiring great force, vehicle lunges forward when pedal brakes free.
Intermittently accelerator sticks, causing vehicle to surge forward unexpectedly. Dealer has replaced the throttle body, and the problem still exists. Manufacturer has been notified.
