Drove car about 4 miles. No problems. When parked it was smoking real bad under hood then caught on fire. Fireman said it was electrical. It gave no warning. As I looked on this website I have seen that I am not the only person that has had this happen. My car is totaled and I am without a vehicle. Now what will Ford do about that? I could have been killed. Thank god I wasn't.

This is a recall complaint. There was a safety recall on the driver's side door handle at the end of March 2015. Took the car in and was told they had the parts and car would be ready at day's end. When I went back, they said they couldn't get the part and auto would be ready on Monday. On Monday they still didn't have the part and as of today Aug. 26, 2015, they still don't have the necessary part. They did provide us with a rental vehicle, but when I do pick-up my car????????they will charge me 300+$ for the work they did for my 50,000 mi check-up. I think they should cancel that fee for the months of inconvenience they have caused me!!!!!!! plus they have left my car sitting outside all of this time! weeds, summer sun beating down have all caused deterioration to my always (before) garage kept car. Can you help?.

Approximately 2-3 months ago, I begin hearing a whinning sound coming from my 2006 Taurus after I started the car and begin to drive. The sound intensified whenever I turned the steering wheel either to the right or left. I believe there in a problem with the steering and I feel the steering system is soon to go out because this noise is getting louder. Also, during cold weather this past winter, the driver's side door would not close. On one occasion, I had to hold the door and drive. This problem is very unsafe for any driver. I contacted a mechanic regarding the loud noise when turning and he said it sounds like the power steering pump is going out and possibly very soon.

Today a cold front moved in. I recived the vehicle from my grandparents and it has spent its whole life in the garage. Now it is always outside. Multiple times this year the door latches have gotten stuck in the open posistion. This causes the doors not to shut, and me having to hold them closed as I drive. They eventually start working ( usually after 20-30 mins of driving). I have tried DE-icer and grease but nothing works. My moms 2005 Ford freestyle has the same issue, except it was recalled beacuse of it. I find it extremley dangerous that I have to hold my doors closed or they fly open when I drive.
Ford is aware that they have a fit problem with the cowl and air cabin filter areas of these cars that cause water to leak onto the floor of the passenger side. This causes carpets to get moldy/smelly. The leak sometimes allows water to short/ruin the blower motor. I believe recall number 03v087000 is related to this issue. I have brought this problem to the attention of my local Ford dealer and they won't do anything to fix it unless I pay them $400 or so.

I am being told this third party as I was unable to see the accident scene and have not seen a police report. My 19-yr old daughter was exiting a main road slowing to a stop. She was doing approximately 2-3 mph when she was struck from behind by another vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The impact knocked her vehicle into the vehicle in front of her knocking that vehicle into the vehicle in front of it. My daughter's airbags did not deploy. She received whiplash from the incident as she was forced backward and frontward. She also hit her head on the steering wheel. Her significant other hit his knee on the passenger side dash. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time. Her vehicle (titled in my name and purchased by me) sustained major disabling damage resulting in a total loss.

I own a 2004 Ford Taurus sel station wagon. The passenger floor has rusted through. It appears that the over time water has leaked in through a fitting where climate control pipes enter through the firewall. The suspension mount on the passenger also has a lot of rust and will probably fail in the next year or so. This suspension mount in the same area where the water had been sitting due to the firewall leakage. I looked for any recalls for 2004 and could not find any. I did see a similar recall for older Taurus' for this same issue. This car only has 40,000 miles and has always been kept in a gargage, scheduled maintenance has been performed. Not abused in any way. Since this is and will become a safety issue, I wanted to get your opinion. This is clearly a design defect, especially since old Taurus' are having the same problem on the same body/chassis. We are the second owner of this car, the first owners were my parents so we know the vehicle history. What are my options to get this problem fixed by Ford? I have photos of the problems.
2005 Ford Taurus se cleaned and inspected. Right front passenger side carpeting found wet with mold underneath floor-mat. Interior carpeting pulled back revealed thoroughly soaked carpeting and carpet mat/insulation. Insulation destroyed from the water and mold. Floorboards found to be solid and in good condition. Minor surface rust appearing on floorboards from the excessive moisture trapped under the carpeting. Water source found to be entering the cabin at the firewall where the ac evaporator drain tube exits the vehicle. Evaporator drain does not appear clogged. This is a known issue with the Ford Taurus from model years 1995-2007. Recommend recall.
