2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2013 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/15/2017

Rear axle brakes failed after 39000 miles. Noise at light braking in forward and/or reverse. Pads are not significantly worn. Rotors visibly marked and rough. After tript of ~50 miles distinct brake smell and rotors are very hot. Need to replace (no warranty at this mileage) as this will eventually develop intoa major brake failure with safety implications.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/18/2016

Late September early October I received a letter from bosch about a recall on brake pads I had gotten from pepboys. I work for a school district in utah and we do most of the work our self. So I called them and they told me they would call back to tell me what I need to do for this recall. After 2 weeks and no call, I called them, they put me on hold and never got back. I called again a few days later and was transfered to a voice mail box that was full and not taking messages. This car is sitting here for a month and we are not able to use it because of this recall. The shims on the back of the pads comes off and cuts into the rotors. One side has done this and the other is just starting to cut into the rotor. What I would like to know is there anything I can do to get them to speed up with this.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 06/05/2015

I bought the car in 2013 from a dealer in south jersey with 10000 miles . After a few month's of driving I started to notice a shaking in the steering wheel when I applied the brakes . About a month later at about 23000 miles there were grinding as well. I went to the dealer and they said the would grind the roters. This was good for 3 months. I went back and they replaced all 4 roters and pads for free as I have bought many cars from them. The car now has 50000 miles and the hole broblem is starting again. A car that has 50000 miles shoul not go in for brakes three times. This looks like a disign proble and needs more attetion.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/12/2012

Out for a Sunday drive and suddenly there was heavy brake noise at right rear brake. The brake pads and rotor were ruined. The brake pads had locked up and would not release. All other brakes ok. Ford claimed this was normal brake wear, would not fix the problem. This may be normal for Ford cars, it has not been my experience with other brands.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 1997 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/17/2011

I heard rattling in the front of the vehicle towards the wheels of the car. I assumed that it was my brakes needing replaced. I took it in for regular maintanance to have the brakes replaced at which time they did a diagnostic on the brakes, they were still good and found that my automatic braking system had failed (hydraulics that actually push the brake pads down), thankfully I was not on the highway going 55mph like I usually do when this happened. Ford needs to recall the entire braking system of the Ford Taurus gl station wagon according to all the complaints that I have seen also keeping in mind most of the complaints were over 100,000 miles. Someone will be killed due to this failure. God forbid there might be children in the vehicle when it happens. Ford step up to the plate and fix this problem now!! it is going to cost me $2100. 00 to have the pump and hydraulic system replaced and this is not an exageration. I depend on this vehicle and can not afford to be with out it. . . . :( as far as I am concerned one complaint should warrant a recall. Lives are at stake.

8 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/12/2011

I purchased my vehicle adn after only 15,000 miles I visited the dealer for a grinding sound on the brakes. Ford recommended that I had to pay for repair on the brakes because the pads were almost gone and I told them that it was impossible because I do not brake that much since I use the vehicle in the highway most of the time. After the car was repaired I had to bring the vehicle back for brake repair only after 4,000 additional miles and they told me the brakes were fine, but I told them that the brakes were failing because the I had difficulty braking and had to press them too hard to fully stop. I have almost crashed a couple of times, but I fear that if I have to perform an emergency stop while the brakes are hot I will crash. I took the vehicle for a second professionalo opinion and they told me that the vehicle is too heavy for the braking system. In addition, Ford modified the brake system in 2013 models and added 30% more braking space on their rotors. I believe they know about this defect and have ignored this situation. They have worked on the car more than six times and nothing. When the brakes get hot the rotors get "crystalized" and then a humming grinding sound starts followed by "sponge like feeling" on the brake pedal. I have changed the pads in three occasions and the car has only 54,000. I am going to file a complaint with the consumer department because they refuse to take the car back. I even had to purchase a new vehicle because I fear for my safety and my passengers. Please help any way you can. These people are just reckless. This is a 365 horsepower twin turbo Taurus and it does not properly stop after the rotors "crystalize" I have tried everything with them. This is supposed to be their "top of the" line model.

9 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 12/31/2010

Both front brake pads did not wear in as they should have. Only the inner 1/2 inch of the outer pad appears to have seated against the rotor, not the full width of the pad. The pads and rotors were replaced but the problem has reappeared on the new parts exactly like the first set. The left and right front brakes have the same problem, it's not just one side. An unusual noise sometimes occurs when coming to a stop. Braking distance is compromised.

Failure Date: 04/21/2010

My 2008 Ford Taurus has a problem with the brakes . I have replaced the pads twice. The last time was on 4/21/10. That was when I noticed that it was smoking after I drove from work. Which is 17 miles from my house. A employee at auto store asked me if used the parking brake often . I said yes he told me to stop. The brake problem stopped also. The brakes were only going bad on one side. The back right. I could smell them burning and I did not know what it was. Now I am waiting to see if happens again I feel like the parking brake was the problem. But why I do not know .

I heard sounds like my brakes were scraping, so I thought maybe I needed new brake pads. Upon taking the wheel off, I discovered the brake housing was broken. A part of the casting was missing, apparently broken off. The lower pin that allows the pads to slide was stuck. The housing is slightly bent not allowing the pin to slide freely.

16 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2004 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 10/04/2006

Brakes were "worn out" after 24,000 miles. In fifty years of driving I have never had to have brakes replaced even after 100,000 miles of driving because I am a very conservative driver. The service agent at the dealer admitted to me that Ford had changed the quality of the brake pads and they had a lot of repairs because of that.

Front brakes were squeaking and scrubbing. Braking distance continued to increase in length. Vehicle was taken to midas. At that time it had less than 22,000 miles. Brake tech. At midas examined pads, which were original equipment from manufactuer. Pads from both wheels had hairline cracks in them and pieces of metal shavings embedded. Metal shavings were causing rubs in rotors. Tech stated it was only a matter of time before pads cracked completely and vehicle had aloss of braking. Pads were replaced with midas ceramic type. 19 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2001 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 06/15/2003

We noticed the lower half of the car is covered with small rust spots 44000 miles. We do not have an estimate on fixing this problem. At 39000 miles we began experiencing a rattle under the right front passenger floor board. This has been inspected and nothing has been found so far, however the rattle continues to grow worse. Just under 30000 miles the front brakes required replacment. New rotors and brake pads were installed, however within a weeks time the car was back in for more brake work. The pads were replaced by the shop, but the sqeaking has returned again. ( we did not have the brakes repaired at the Ford dealership, because we were told that this was not covered under warranty. ) the fuel gauge reads erracticly between full and 1/4. I have made no attempt to have this fixed yet. The engine has developed a hard starting problem within the last few weeks. It will crank and not start. Then after a couple of attempts, it will start but idle rough.
