1 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2001 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 09/20/2006

2001 Ford Taurus ses wagon. Purchased 4/2001 with 32 miles on it. Found out right after purchase that rotors had been ground down. Dealer blamed original parts. Upon braking, steering while heavily rocks from side to side. Obvious to anyone sitting in the car. Rotors have been replaced at least twice, and ground down at least 3 times. Car only has 70,000 miles on it. Travel is 90% highway miles, little braking at all. Dealers just keep suggesting new rotors and pads or grinding down but I have been doing this approx. Every 8,000-10,000 miles. Shimmy in wheel never fully goes away no matter what I do. I am afraid that I will not be able to stop one day given how much vibration in the car there is. No one knows what's wrong or is admitting it. Research will show that I am not the only one with this complaint, so clearly there is a design flaw of some kind.

2 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 1999 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/04/2004

When I brake at highway speed the steering wheel vibrates very bad. The rotors were replaced when the car was new. I am on my third set of brake pads and third set of tires in 80,000 miles. I have been told by mechanics that there was a problem with the rotors on my 99 Ford Taurus but Ford refuses to acknowledge. This is a very dangerous situation because the sterring wheel almost jumps out of your hand.

9 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2001 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/07/2003

Service brakes, hydraulic: foundation components: disc: rotor on 2001 Ford Taurus -- have replaced rotors twice and tires once since purchasing vehicle in January 2003 w/ only 30k miles on it. Now have 49k miles and the steering wheel practically jumps out of my hands while braking due to the rotors which were put on only 2 months ago after dealership billed Ford for shaving rotors below safety specifications and had to be replaced at my expense. Ford needs to do something about the extreme heat generated thereby causing rotors to have to be replaced everytime individual must suddenly stop ! Ford should pay for next rotors and should consider recalling vehicle due to braking system will cause accidents if someone cannot stop and Ford will be liable in my particular situation. I will advertise this information and make readily available all my documentation to the legal field and any attorney who requests it.

10 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2003 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 07/01/2003

Possible defective brakes are a concern. Before the vehicle had 3,000 miles, the rotors were cut. That is unheard of for a car with so little mileage, at least to me. We still hear grinding noises on a hard brake in the right front. Everytime we take it back, (4 times) no problems are found. I have already talked to Ford twice about this, but since the warranty has expired, and the dealership says that brake pads need to be replaced (at cost to us), they do not feel they (Ford) should pay for it. One of the times that we took it in for service, they suggested a remedy that is not even recommended in the owner's manual. I understand that sometimes a vehicle is just not put together correctly, then fix it. Vehicle has 36,470 miles on it.

Brake rotors on 1999 Ford Taurus are becoming warped and causing the brakes to vibrate and the steering to shake when the brakes are applied at 40 mph and over. I believe that this is also causing an increase in the time required to stop the vehicle. I have had to have my rotors turned twice, the first time at 30,016 miles and just recently at 52,400 miles. 20 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2000 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 10/17/2001

This is the thrid and last Ford car I well buy, on-less it was made before 1970! while driving, the car pulls to the left and there's a sqeaking sonud coming from the driver's side. The pulling to the left caused the inside of tire's to wear. When applying the brakes the steering wheel and front end vibrated badly. The brake rotors had to be resurfaced no less than three time do to warping. One time, the ball-joint was replaced under warrant, but I was billed for the realignment by fairlane Ford in dearborn mi. . It was said that the tire's was at fault. There seems to be a defect in the braking system or bad metal in the rotors. (90% of my driving is open road) there's no good explanation or justification for these repetitve malfunction starting on a vehicle that has less than 11,000 miles. . P. S I had to leave out some of the little things. U.

Vehicle very dangerous to handle, especially at highway speeds. Awaiting next failure. Problem #2 front bumper paint peeling/cracking and flaking off. Vehicle under warranty, dealer states not a paint defect. However, bumper paint in bad shape. Bumper paint not covered under any warranty according to dealer. Have filed complaint with manfacture.
