Heater a/c fan on my 2003 for Taurus has stopped working seems Ford knows there is a problem but has not issued a recall. This is a safety issue since this particular car will fog up front window unless defroster is run. Problem is leaking water into fan area, funny Ford has a repair kit for this problem.

In my 2003 Ford Taurus water leaks in through the cabin air filter, and basically settles within the housing where the blower is shorting out the blower so the heater doesn't work.
2002 Ford Taurus sel: the heater blower motor is shot, we have replaced it twice so it made me do some online research. Turns out this is very common with the Taurus and we can't afford to fix it on our dime again. We pull the motor out and there is water inside it. We've tried finding a leak or source of the water but no luck. This is getting costly and there is an existing recall #03v087000 for other Taurus models, ours should be included also. Problem started with 40k miles and now with 55k it still a ongoing problem.

No visibility on cold/snow days due to heater/defroster failure. Having zero visibility is a very serious safety issue. Numerous Taurus owners have indicated the same problem. The heater resistor fails due to water getting into the blower motor compartment and shorting out the resistor. This is a faulty design by the manufacturer. My 2002 Taurus had the heater resistor replaced approximately 3 weeks ago, and has now quit again. Since the original replacement, we have experienced several strong rain storms. (although not a safety issue, the water also comes into the passenger side floor board causing mold and odor problems) through research via Taurus owner websites, several owners have also experienced heater blower motor failure, in addition to the resistor failure. This is not a normal maintenance type issue, and due to the zero visibility issue, should be considered a safety issue.
I took my 2002 Ford Taurus to the repair shop because I did not have any heat. I was told it was the heater core and they proceeded to replace it. After I picked my vehicle up, by the time I got home I had no heat again. The technicians at the repair shop said they do not know why it is not heating. Ford technicians do not know either.

We've had many problem in the past year. First in the peak of winter the heater core had to be replace. Following a month later with the engine making a horrible rattling, when the car in in idle it would stop all together, the car has been brought to a Ford dealer. . . Which estimates the cost to be $4700. 00 to fix the problem. The car is at 81000 miles and though we purchased the esp. . . It is 1800 miles overdue. . . So the cost will be ours to fix it. I've never had an engine die in a car that is 4 years old. The car has been sitting for the past week while we figure out what to do with it.

The heater was unable to function, making it difficult to see the road in inclement weather. Took vehicle to dealer for check up, and results indicated that the heat motor tended to get water or ice in it, causing it to malfunction.
The interior of the vehicle has a strong smell of gas when the heat and defroster is on. Consumer feels nauseous, making the ability to concentrate on the road difficult. Taken to dealer, but the cause is undetermined.

I bought my 1998 Ford Taurus this past spring of 2003, and now that winter has arrived, I find that I have no heat or defroster. I took it to my mechanic and they told me it was my blend door, and they thought it was a recall item. When I contacted Ford, they told me it was not a recall item, and that it would cost over $900 to get it fixed. How is this not a saftey issue, and how are they getting away with not paying for it? someone signed off on this cheap part that has obviously failed repeatedly on these vehicles. They need to be held responsible. Visibility is a saftey issue, and they should be forced to recall this item. They shouldn't be able to choose not to recall something because it will cost them too much money to fix. They should have thought about that when they went cheap in the first place.
I have a 96 Ford Taurus (VIN 1falp52u4ta107398) I have had to have the heater core replaced 3 times in this car since I have had it, the most recent times being 6 months apart. This is a very costly repair (labor is 675. 00) I called Ford to complain and was told no recalls and no problems with this. I found out today that there has been problems with the heater core and a TSB had been released about it. I think Ford should have to refund me the money I have spent on having it fixed and have it fixed according to the TSB also! I have had lots of problems with my car since I bought it and all of them seem to have some type of TSB out about them, why is Ford not responsible for fixing these known problems??.

Heater abruptly stopped working while driving last winter. Since then the cooling system has been flushed 6 times. Each time it will work for a week and then it stopped again. The car was taken to a dealership where they replaced the blend door motor, charged $230 for it and it did nothing. It was given a "chemical flush" for $125 which did nothing. Then the dealership informed me that it would need the heater core and blend door replaced. I was told by another dealership that this was a service bulletin in the first place and they should not have done the other work at all. Apparently this was a known problem on the Taurus from 96 on. I found a lot of people on the internet complaining about the exact same thing and was told that the NHTSA had advised Ford in 96 or 97 that they should probably recall the cars for this problem which causes the defroster to not work and therefore makes it dangerous to drive at all in the winter. Apparently Ford did a " customer satisfaction" recall which expired in 99 but was never done on my car (I bought it used in 2000). I called Ford to ask why this wasn't a recall since from what I have found it effects all Tauruses from 96-99 at least. They told me that it wasn't a safety issue so it wouldn't be a recall. I submitted that it is a safety issue since you cannot see out of the windshield in the winter and since when ours stopped working we were on I-70 between st. Louis and kansas city during a snowstorm and had to stop because we couldn't see. This is a $1300 repair that Ford knew about for a long time, I think they should have to pay for it.
