When I reverse I get a blue screen and or an error message saying “camera is unavailable”. I know there are quite a few Fords with a rear camera safety recall however the Taurus limited is not listed but is having the same issue. The fusion is listed which is a very similar car like the Taurus.

8/31/22 Ford announced a rear view camera recall for foggy cloudy images resulting in a lack of functionality due to poor visibility on select vehicles and production years. That recall needs to be expanded significantly. My 2013 Taurus rear view camera has been foggy/cloudy for years making it unusable and unsafe. The Ford dealership is aware of the issue as it does not seem uncommon to the servicemen but is ridiculously expensive to fix therefore rendering the safety mechanism nonfunctional.

Windshield washer fluid pump failure after 30k miles on the vehicle. Began being intermittent after 20k miles. Replaced pump and removed protective cover to find corroded motor windings. Failire appears to be caused by an internal leak with in the pump allowing the washer fluid to enter the electric motor portion of the pump. This is a particular hazard during the winter months if you cannot clean salt, dirt and other debris off your windshield ,. Particularly during sunny days.

About half the time, when windshield wipers are turned on, they will not shut off. I haven't experienced them turning on suddenly as I drive. They stay on when I turn them on. The headlights stay on as well. Even when turning lights off, the wipers remain. This causes them to be on while it's dry resulting in a dragging wipe and noise. It can also cause a minor smudge. I've had the car since June 2016 and this has always been an issue. To turn them on causes hesitation as they may not turn off any time soon. I've restarted the car a few times and my experience is to wait it out after a couple days. A brief look online shows various Ford cars and trucks have this issue.
Driving about 35 mph on a city street when warning came up that said power steering assist failure, and advance trac needs service, also turn signals will not stay on unless holding lever. Power steering went out very hard to control car. Took to mechanic had to have complete rack and pinion replaced only 55,200 miles on car same problem from other year models that are recalled but not for this model year.
The headliner has detached from the vehicle despite only 5 years old. It blocks the rear window. Also, the upper center brake light is on the headliner and is now no operating properly because of its orientation. This is a major safety hazard. Ford has issued a TSB on this. Several attempts to get Ford to repair under warranty or for safety reasons were unsuccesful. It is very disappointing. Research confirms that this was a poor design with limited life on plastic mounting brackets. Repair estimated to almost $1000!.
Leaking water on the passenger side floor, blower motor quit working floor is starting to mold multiple work bags saturated with moldy water. Told to reference existing recall 03v087000 and complaint 10184014.
The air door position motor makes a clicking noise and only works on the center vents. No way to defrost the window. Cool night window fogged up and can't get air to the windshield to clear off. Very dangerous. !!!!!.

The rear window has a screen that will not stay down. When backing up it stays 3/4 of the way up obstructing vision out the back window. It is either all the way up or 3/4 of the way up and cannot be lowered out of view. . This situation exists when the car is stopped and in motion in all traffic situations.

Driver side door mirror appears to be fading in color, possibly losing polarization, seems like that part of the mirror is defective, it gets extremely hot, turning brown and can be a driving hazard if the issue is not corrected.
My car is equipped with a rear powered sun screen. I haven't used this feature in 5 years and suddenly it pops up about 3/4 way up. Since it is only partially extended, the side brackets and top bar of the sun screen are reducing my visibility out of the rear window. The sun screen is supposed to retract when the car is in reverse. It would be almost impossible to see out of the rear window at night with sun screen extented 3/4 way up. I believe this a safety design flaw. There are no instructions in the car manual to retract the sun screen manually when the sun screen failed in the extented or partially extented position.
I was on the expressway the car reduced speed, until it stopped which almost made someone run into the back of me. The windshield blades do not function, the interior lights will not come on all the time. Ive taken my car to several shops they were not able to tell me what's wrong with the vehicle stating the problem does not show up on the diagnostic machine. I am to the point of being afraid of driving my car, I never know when or if it will function properly.

The car was driving down the street and stopped. When I pressed to accel the transmission did'nt pull over 15 feet and stopped pulling. It was the torque converter that had gon out. And then I get a letter in the mail about other recalls but not on the transmissions. I worked for Ford for 27 years as an engineer and built transmissions under recalls. I have no idea about these paople! but the 2004 has that recall.
My husband was driving my 2006 Ford Taurus to work one crisp fall morning, when all of the sudden he heard a loud sound that he at first thought to be a gunshot. What had happened was that the rear window glass had shattered all on its own. After further inspection he noticed that one of the little black heaters that are connected to the glass to work the rear defogger coils was melted to a piece of glass. We are inclined to believe that the rear defogger mechanism failed to auto shut off after the window defogged and over heated which in turn over heated the cold glass (it was chilly on this morning) and caused it to shatter. We are just thankful that no one was sitting in the back seat at the time this occurred and was injured by the shattered glass.

Front end unacceptable! then defroster didn't work in winter and I had to use my shirt sleeve to keep rubbing the windshield. I told ac collins Ford dealership that something was wrong with the coil springs and brakes when I bought it. I also told them that the ac was leaking in car. I told them that the steering wheel would shake when I was braking. I can send over the emails if you like. Ac collins sold me this car with serious suspension problems. You may have all records of proof. Front suspension coil spring fracture defect investigation for the 2000 Taurus investigation: #pe04044 opened: may 24 2004. Status: recall » vehicle component: suspension:front:springs:coil springs*.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving various speeds in rainy weather, the windshield wipers failed to function in the intermediate setting. The wipers would only operate in high mode. In addition, the front passenger's side seat belt buckle would not unlatch or latch whenever engaged. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number 01v258000 (visibility) and stated that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage and VIN were unavailable.
On October 25, 2013 I was driving down the highway, the accelerator took off on its own (it was like someone else was pushing the gas peddle) and I lost control of the vehicle. I hit the fence, then the car turned hit the tree until the car came to a stop. My whole driver side is pushed in, my windshield is cracked, the trunk flee up, my rear view mirror, the outside mirror, and head light is off. The hood is bent and the engine was on the ground. Known of the tires were flat. The air bags never deployed. I hit my face and chin on the stirring wheel. My ribs are bruised and my face is swollen. I chipped my tooth on the wheel. My baby was in the back seat, the inside seats fell down. She was not hurt thank god nothing major happen to us.

It started to rain and without any prior warning, the windshield wipers did not work. Luckily I was near home and able to return safely although it was a very dangerous time for a few miles. The directionals and bright light switch is fine on the stick but not the wipers or washer. The local Ford dealer wants $113 to tell me what is wrong - he says the tech needs to be paid for turning the computer on. After that payment I would know what it would cost to fix the problem because the Taurus is out of warranty and it might be as high as $500. He made no suggestion of starting to check for a fuse or relay problem - so I guess if it was the fuse that would cost me $113 because I was asked to sign for the $113 fee, no matter what - a base fee to look at a Ford out of warranty. Instead I left the dealership.
My 2003 Taurus's windshield leak's. I checked the recalls and it show's a recall #03c03 for my car, but when I enter my VIN#1fafp55u83a271164 and it show zero for recalls. I'm not the first owner of the vehicle ,but that shouldn't matter in a this case. When my wife or I are driving the car in the rain the water is leaking into the car. I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this cituation. Thank you.
My wife and I were traveling on us 35 north out of dallas, when we heard a loud bang as if something hit the windshield. We both looked up, but there was no mark on the windshield. Looked in the rear view mirror and saw that the rear window was shattered. Stopped at a Ford dealer in dallas and he said it had to be hit by a rock or bullet, but could not find either. Contacted my insurance, who contacted safelite to replace the window, but they did not have a replacement in dallas, which I understand is one of their distribution centers, dealer secured window with crash wrap for me and I drove on to albuq, where safelite replaced my window. They also could not find where it had been hit by a rock or bullet. Drove back to houston and contacted the selling dealer, and also Ford's customer relationship center. As of this date, 11/24/2012, they either don't have an answer or haven't returned my calls. On the 2nd call to Ford, the gentleman did tell me the regional representative of Ford said it was not covered, but no one has bothered to contact me.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that during precipitation, water would leak into the vehicle through the windshield, causing the heater and air conditioning motor to shorten. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the windshield failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 128,000. Kmj.
I have a 2000 Ford Taurus se and my wiper is not working properly I went on the web and notice that Ford had a voluntary recall for my vehicle that came from the chicago plant and was built during that time period but they say my VIN # isn't in the recall so I asked for the part number that was under question because it's not in stone that they couldn't make a mistake with my VIN # or it wouldn't be a recall in the first place, which they could not give me. And what is the actual amount of repairs made to any of these vehicle since the wasn't publicize and how many of us Ford owner was told our VIN number isn't recognize to save their cost.
The heater/ac blower of my 2002 Ford Taurus only works on high. I went to the dealership today and received an estimate to repair will cost me $660. 00. This estimate includes a "fix" for a known design flaw. Evidently water leaks into the vehicle from somewhere around where the windshield wipers are causing damage to the resistor and motor. I need a blower motor, updated (fix) cowl, and resistor.

This is an apparent problem with many of the Ford Tauruses where the heater just stops working. Each time it stops working it seems to cost over 2,000. 00 to fix the issue. The actuator motor, the heater core, and the blower door all continue to be affected. Even after repair it seems that it will only work for about 1 year before it needs to be fixed again. Just outside of the warranty period. We have replaced the heater system 3 times and it just did it again. Research on line shows that this is a significant issue with many of the Ford products that use the heater set up like the Taurus. It may also include the for f150 truck with a similar problem.
The contact owns 1999 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving at 35 mph, the windshield wipers failed intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,000.
