By the time he and his daughter exited the vehicle, flames were rising from under the hood. The vehicle was destroyed. The fire department extinguished the fire and a report was filed. 1. Wipers did not return to "parked" position at bottom of windshield due to obstruction (freezing precipitation). 2. Intermittent wiper function ceased immediately, 2 weeks later wiper park function failed, on 3/16/07 the wipers failed while in use on i40. My wife, 2 daughters and I had to park the car on the side of i40 for almost 3 hours beginning during rush hour traffic because I could not see through the torrential rains with no windshield wipers. 3. At this point nothing has been done to correct the failures. Ford motor corp. Has stated there is a recall on the windshield wiper system and that although my car falls in the year of the recall, is the correct make and model and also exhibited the exact symptoms listed under the recall, they will not repair the problem.

Nhtsa campaign id # 01v258000 - windshield wiper/washer motor. . . I have a 2000 Ford Taurus, my windshield wiper motor has stopped working. I remembered that there was a recall on it. When I called the Ford customer service department (and I use that term very loosely), I was told that a Ford dealership has already repaired the recall (don reid Ford). When I explained that the part was never, ever repaired by them. . . The customer service rep. & her supervisor, said that there was nothing that they could do, because the "records" showed it was repaired in October 2001. My car has never been taken in for this repair to be done. I asked the unhelpful customer service rep (and her supervisor) what my options were, and I was told that I was welcome to take it to any Ford dealer to have the repair done, at my expense. . . Even though the recall has never been repaired. I know that the dealers get paid money when they do recall work. . . And I also know that there are a lot of dishonest people out there that will do anything to earn a dollar. Now having said that. . . What is a person to do, that has an unrepaired recall problem, and it has been labeled as repaired? all of the symptoms that I am experiencing right now, are the exact same ones listed in the recall notice. Can someone please lead me in the right direction?.

a problem has started occuring with my front windshield wipers since oct 2004. The wipers are malfunctioning, whereby they come on intermittently even when the wiper-switch is in the off position. I took my car to my dealer ( dillon Ford, 30 tolland turnpike, manchester,CT ) to have this problem examined and fixed. The dealership charged me $75. 00 to examine the problem. The technicians reported that they were nto able to reproduce the problem and felt the cause of the problem might be a failed gem module. I ordered a new gem module through the dealership and had my gem module replaced. This cost me about $400. 00. The replacement did not fix my problem at all. I still have in my possession my old gem module; the car has the new gem module. I took the car agian to the dealership on 05/20/2005 to have the problem fixed, however the technicians again reported that they were not able to reproduce the problem. Meanwhile I still have the problem with the malfunctioning wipers, and I feel this is not only a huge irritant, but also a safety hazard.

Windshield wiper hoses defective on Ford 2000 Taurus thin platic hoses cracks and brittle to touch causing washer to leak and obstucting drivers ability to see clearly in winter road salted conditions. I have two Taurus and both hoses have failed after 4 years. Also oil pan gasket have slipped on both vehicles causing oil leaks which if not caught can severly leak oil from engine causing motor to cease.
Malfunctioning of windshield wiper motor. This problem eventually shorted out the gem module. I reciently had the recall for the wiper motor cover repaired. Since the repair my wipers will not work when the weather is below freezing. Once the car warms up they will work fine (provided the temp is above 30 degrees). I have had the car back to the dealer 3 times to find out what is wrong, each time the wipers will work once there, and no action is taken. (my car is currently just over the free warranty mileage). I had no problems with the wipers before they were fixed and would like to have somthing done. The wipers act like there may be moisture in a connection that freezes and pushes the connection apart, or interferes with electrical conduction, until the car warms sufficently to get conduction to continue. Please contact me with some answers. Thank you.
During a snow storm, the windshield wipers had gone out. The consumer had gotten the vehicle to the nearest garage and was told that they couldn't be of assistance. The consumer then had taken the vehicle to the Ford dealer where they remedied the problem. Mr scc.
