The 2005 Ford Taurus has repeatedly accelerated on its own - 6 experiences with this terrifying experience - each time, my daughter's foot was not on the accelerator but the car was increasing in speed. She had to apply a tremendous amount of pressure on the brake to slow then stop the vehicle. Once the Taurus was placed in "park", the engine roared horribly - each time exactly the same roar. . Again, this problem has happened to the vehicle 6 times - with no answers provided for this problem. Each time this has happened, the vehicle was traveling between 35 - 40 mph. This is my third time reporting the problem. I have not received any answers regarding the problem. There hasn't been further investigation into this dangerous problem. I have found on line that this problem has been presented to other Ford Taurus owners for their 2005 Ford Taurus, yet the issue has not been investigated. Why isn't this problem being investigated?.

Bought car in June of 2018. No problems until about a month ago, when engine began accelerating on its own, sometimes in park after starting, or when idling in drive at a light in traffic. Must press hard on brake to keep it from moving until I can put it in neutral, where it really races even louder for about a minute, then runs normal. Has happened about a 10 times. Finally quit driving it until I took it in to a Ford dealer and it happened again that morning. Left it there and was told a few days later that it hasn't happened when they drove it. They want us to pick it up without any repairs, but I know there is something wrong and feel it isn't safe. Refused to pick it up, but will probably have to this week.

I was travelling on a freeway ~70mph in left hand lane. Without warning the instrument cluster went black and the engine stopped. The vehicle started to decelerate and there was no response from the throttle pedal. An orange box appeared on the left hand side of the speedometer saying 'transmission not in park'. I signaled intention to pull onto left hand shoulder but there was no sound or flashing from the indicator arrow light in the instrument cluster. I braked and the vehicle came to a stop. I put the gear selector into 'park' and depressed engine start button. The instrument lights then illuminated, and the indicator light started flashing. I then depressed the brake pedal and engine start button and the engine started. All check lights went out, engaged 'd', waited for break in traffic, indicated and accelerated into left hand lane. I contacted the dealer and explained the situation and they wanted me to wait until the problem repeated or the check engine light was to illuminate. I told them that this was a safety critical problem and that I would not wait until this problem repeated. I took the car to the dealer and they found fault codes - b11d8:14, u0423:82, u0415:00, u0028:08. The fault codes were cleared, and the dealer drove the vehicle for ~70 miles but were unable to duplicate the problem. On April 25, 2019, the Ford regional customer service manager told me that as the problem could not be duplicated, Ford motor company cannot offer any assistance at this time. She stated that the vehicle is safe to drive and any issue is now between myself and the dealer. Overall, there was no acknowledgement of the gravity of this issue. The fact that the problem cannot be duplicated should be even more concerning when, at random, control of the vehicle can be lost. Ford motor company has now walked away from this safety critical issue.

While pulling out of my driveway and trying to pull into an alley that leads the main road; my vehicles rpm went from just above idle to almost 4000. It caused me to fly through a stop sign, as my brakes were not working. After some tugging I was able to shift it into neutral and get it to a full stop. I turned the vehicle off, then back on again, while in park the rpms were gradually increasing. I stepped on the gas while in park, and it corrected the issue. Second incident occurred while going fifty five mph down a county road. I took my foot off the gas and the rpms continued increasing again. I got to almost seventy mph. I was able to shift into neutral again . I came to a full stop in the middle of the road and restarted the vehicle. It started back up without incident. I will be having the vehicle looked at first thing Monday.

After driving on the highway the car began to accelerate on its own while trying to come to a complete stop off the exit. The car began to accelerate even more pulling forward although I was pushing down the brakes as hard as I could and the car still drove forward not allowing me to stop until I pulled the gear into neutral to allow me to slow down. I almost crashed right into another car because the accelerator would not allow me to brake (with my child in the car as well). It happened again the next day, and is still a very serious issue. I fear for my life and refuse to drive this car with my children in it as well as the safety of other drivers on the road. This is an extremely dangerous problem and it needs to be addressed and recalled immediately. Someone is going to end up seriously hurt or dead because of this severely dangerous issue. Please do something! also, when putting the car in park the rpm rev's up to 3000/4000 even after turn off the car and restarting it. The car is currently at 95,280 miles.
Part of the engine, top portion closest to the firewall on the passenger side of the vehicle, caught on fire while I was driving on a city street near my residence in lancaster, CA. I noticed the smoke emitting from under the hood when I came to a stop at the stop light.

Our 2013, 6 cyl Ford Taurus limited awd has been driven 67,004 fairly trouble-free miles needing only ordinary maintenance. The only notable repair was the replacement of a failed fuel pump control module about seven months ago. On the evening of January 20th, 2019, my wife and I were returning home after completing a 40-minute drive. We briefly stopped, waiting for our garage door to open completely and proceeded normally up our driveway, which is on about a 10-degree incline. As we approached the level floor of our garage, the motor rapidly revved up, lunging the vehicle forward. Luckily, the brakes held the car back, while the engine raced loudly and very fast. The process of this sudden and briefly continuous acceleration happened without any pressure on, or obstruction of the gas pedal. The engine briefly went into even a higher and louder rpm state after I quickly shifted the transmission into neutral, while applying strong pressure to the brake pedal. Luckily the car was stopped safely, but it left my wife and me quite distressed and concerned. We made an appointment for our mechanic to investigate this mysterious issue. If I were to speculate on the cause of this problem based on my experience, I would venture a guess that perhaps something may not be right with the process that is designed to detect and prevent engine stalling. It seems to me, that when our car coasted up to the garage at the end of our driveway, the engine slowed down to a near stall and then revved up intensely on its own, giving me and my wife quite a scare.

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Ford Taurus. While the contact's daughter was driving 35 mph, she removed her foot from the accelerator pedal and the vehicle accelerated on its own up a hill. The contact's daughter applied extra pressure to the brake pedal in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle slid into a parking lot and the driver shut off the engine. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and a new battery and alternator were installed. Two days after the repair, the vehicle accelerated on its own again. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 81,000.
The rpm gauge revs and speedometer gauge needle both begin to rise by themselves. This happens either immediately as the vehicle is started or 1-5 miles after shifted into 'drive'. The vehicle accelerates by itself. The vehicle continues to accelerate, climbing to higher and higher speeds while the car's ignition is on. The driver just starts the car and without pushing the accelerator pedal, the car begins to accelerate on its own. You must keep your foot on the brake and the car in park while the car is on. To keep the car from driving on its own when it is shifted into 'drive' or 'reverse', driver must keep brake pedal firmly pressed. Car is not drivable in it's current condition because it is not safe.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Ford Taurus. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle accelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The failure recurred. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 98,000.
While I was driving on the freeway my car started to idle high and speed gained without me doing it. I tried to push on the brake to slow car down but brake would not work, I got off freeway and pushing as hard as I could on the brake the car slowed somewhat. , there was a hill which caused me to again gain speed and I put car in park and to stopped. I towed to auto repair and when computer test was ran no codes came up.

This issue occurred about 4 months ago when driving normally. Then, today we were driving up a hill and it started to accelerate without me pushing the gas pedal. The only way to get it to stop was to put it in park and turn the car off but, kept occurring when I turned the car back on. Putting it in neutral did not work. We were in the middle of our city.
Driving on a high-speed highway, when without warning (no check engine light or any other notification), the transmission quit working. I was left unable to accelerate or even maintain my speed; and I had to coast to a stop on an exit ramp as the portion of highway that I was on did not have shoulders on either side. It was very dangerous. The traffic behind me was just as ill-prepared for this sudden deceleration, and I was powerless to do anything other than steer to relative safety. It appears that the torque converter's splines are not properly designed and this is a common occurrence on this specific make, model and year. This defect should be attended to, especially so that there is no injury or loss of life in the future.
Takata recall - while driving Taurus accelerates without touching fuel pedal. Also retains speed for a while after releasing fuel pedal. Fuel pedal does not seem to be stuck as when I tap fuel pedal car does dot slow down until I apply brake. When first starting in morning engine revs to 3,000 rpms and falls gradually. Taurus has 139,600 miles.
The car will start accelerating while parked going up to 4000 rpm, it will also while driving accelerate without foot being on petal. Please call me if you can help 219-810-5800.
While in park, rpms surge at 2000 until shifting into drive or reverse. While driving, barely touching the gas pedal the car gains speed quickly without having to use the pedals, have to keep my foot on the brakes the entire time to keep it steady - its accelerating by itself and takes a lot of effort to keep it stopped. Almost caused me to crash 3 times today out of the blue, once while at a red light with foot on brakes the rpms ran up to 3000 and tried to drive through the brakes, and twice while on city streets it accelerated from 20 to 50 in seconds, causing me to nearly miss a vehicle in front of me. Why my model VIN isn't included in the recall I don't know, because looking at everything online regarding the 05 Taurus my car has all the same issues, which weren't disclosed to me upon purchase because the original owner had no idea. Current mileage 186k.

While stopped at a stop light (depressing the brake), the vehicle lunged forward and rpm kept high. Rpm went to normal in few seconds. It often happens (1 of 10 times depressing brake), yesterday mornig the car lost power on free way (vechicle speed was not able to pass 40 mph), it backed normal in the afternoon. Sent the car to garage, it can be repeated by shift to d, depressing both gas and brake pedals, quickly release gas pedal.

As I am driving when I press on my brakes the car trumbles, shakes and it doesn't brake all the way, it feels like something is missing.
Driving at a speed of about 25 mph ,my car suddenly revved up and sped up without my pressing the gas. I nearly rear-ended a car in front of me. I pressed on my brake as hard as I could but it did not help much . I downshifted to 3rd gear but still not much help. Finally it returned to normal speed. I was too scared and did not see how high the rpms went.

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Ford Taurus x. While the vehicle was idling at a red light, it independently accelerated without warning. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop. The contact placed the gear shifter in neutral to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a Ford dealer. The vehicle was taken to Ford Lincoln of cookeville (1600 interstate dr, cookeville, TN 38501, (931) 284-4509), but no diagnostic failure codes were found. The failure could not be duplicated, but the battery was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
Pushed on accelerator to pass. And the car kept accelerating stomp on brake and it still wouldn't slow down. Had to shift to neutral. Engine rpm stayed at about 4500 rpm. Tapped gas pedal with foot a few times before engine rpm returned to normal.
On 1/23/2018, my 2008 Ford Taurus experienced, for the first (and so far, only) time, the same powertrain symptoms described at Ford TSB numbers 07-21-11 and 08-26-13 (found at. . Read more...
I was driving at a speed of maybe 45 miles an hour and I took my foot off the gas when approaching a red light. My car continued to accelerate really fast. I tapped the gas hard and it stopped. Since then it does it all the time. Now the car is hesitant and jerking. The transmission warning light recently came on and went away but the acceleration is getting worse each day.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. While driving 35 mph and making a left turn, the vehicle started to decelerate and stalled without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, waited a few minutes, and was able to resume driving. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to verner cadby Ford (1240 bloomfield Ave, fairfield, NJ 07004) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body, injection kit, and fuel kit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 16,600.
I was driving down the road and my air bag deployed on its own allmost causing me to wrech.
The vehicle continues to gain speed without the foot on the accelerator, regardless if we are on flat ground or moving up a small hill. If I take my foot off of the brake the car gains speed immediately and has almost caused me to crash my car. The only way it does not continue to gain speed is by putting the car into nuetral, braking and turning it off. I know this has been an ongoing problem with other Ford Taurus's close in the same years proximity. This is clearly a safety hazard. This has happened many times and I now have my vehicle parked for safety reasons.
Was driving my car several times on road and highway when car looses power while in motion several times with a wrench shown on dashboard screen.
Entering my neighborhood when gas pedal "broke". Car accelerated to highest rpm and I had to counteract this by putting both feet on my brakes to keep my car from flying off and hitting something. Extremely scary. Car cannot be turned on without the engine revving to the highest possible speed. Had I been on the interstate I may be dead. Gas pedal is depressed all the way to floor. Have not yet had it inspected by a shop.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. While driving various speeds, the maintenance warning indicator illuminated intermittently. In addition, the vehicle shook violently and the rpms decelerated independently. The contact had to place the vehicle in park and sometimes restart the vehicle in order for it to operate; however, the failure recurred minutes later. The vehicle was taken to laurel Ford Lincoln (2018 ms-15, laurel, ms 39440 (601) 649-4511) where it was diagnosed that the throttle actuator control module needed to be repaired. The dealer stated that they could not repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 139,679.
When I am driving on the street 35mph all of a sudden my car starts to excel (picks up speed) and in order for me to stop it from picking up speed I have to pull over and put it on park then press the gas pedal one quick time and then I can start to drive again. I can't do nothing else but pullover.
My car, since 130k miles accelerates on its own. . . When I put in neutral and hit gas it revs to 5 and then normalizes. # days ago it did it 5x within 10 minutes. Currently has 140k miles. I had it sderviced and the Ford dealer offered no solutions and werent aware of this type of problem.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. While driving 40 mph, the brake pedal was applied but failed to respond and the vehicle accelerated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
2015 Ford Taurus sel 3. 5l ecoboost flex fuel has vibrations at idle and speeds of 60-70 mph. Vibration does not always occur at idle or at high speeds, usually happens during deceleration, and sometimes happens at low speeds as well. Was told by Ford dealer that other similar models were test driven to compare, and these vibrations are normal for similar cars. I drove a 2011 for Taurus sel for 4 years and never had any vibrations so am certainly not happy with the dealer's response but they said since no codes are popping up there is nothing they can do, and I took it to a different Ford dealer and they wouldn't even have the technicians check anything since it wasn't vibrating at that moment.
