My Mini van lights would flicker while I'm driving and even after replacing the starter in the car, it still turns off while I'm driving. There's rust coming from under the car, I smell a burnt smell when I'm driving. I'm having electrical issues, my car stops when it wants to in the middle of the highway, . . It makes noises when I'm turning, I have rust coming from under my car. The signal lights flicker. While driving the windshield washer, seat belt, and door ajar warning lights flash on and off. While this is happening the wiper blades stop working, front brake rotors is causing steering wheel to shimmy when the brakes are applied. Now when I turn my wheel to the left, it makes this loud nose. What is that?!.

While driving down my hill, my brake light came on. Now my abs light comes on with my brake light. Brake fluid is present, brakes are almost a year old. For over a year now, my van after it being turned on and off (errands, shopping etc), it does not want to start. Once it does start, as I turn the wheel while in park, it stalls. Now that my brake and abs lights come on, as I turn the wheel it wants to stall while driving. When I am turning my vehicle off, I turn the key down very slow and all the way down, that seemed to only help it restart a few times. I had my vehicle at the Ford dealer for the recall in 2010 dealing with the cruise control issues. My od light has been off for over a year now as well. While driving my vehicle, when I am stopped, I notice a white colored smoke coming out from under the hood, and no one can find where it is coming from, especially happens when it is damp or raining out, and engine temp is normal. (I can not take my van to an auto car wash due to the fact it starts shaking, smoking and won't run or stay started when the under carriage is being sprayed) fuel pump, starter and ignition coil are fine. Has new plugs and wires.
Our 1999 Windstars idling while stationary in park or with brake depressed would become erratic and stall, with brakes depressed we would have to put vehicle in n to try to keep rpms up, vehicle stall when started to warm up then start up after turning key off then back on then the fuel pump went out we had to get the whole fuel system minus the gas tank replaced(pump, filter, sending unit) but when it was repaired we didnt get the fuel gage back and the mechanic couldnt find why. Then we had static coming thru the speakers while vehicle was off and continued while driving and just stopped as soon as started, then our battery was constantly dead we had just bought a new battery so we had to unhook and hook up the cables everytime we drove or battery would die . Then the interior lamps would not go off at times we had to make sure they were off on the dial at all times they would sometimes come on while we were driving and not go off. Then we started having brake problems from the abs sensor to excessive fluid loss and pads(twice within a couple months) and drums needing completely repaired brake lights that wouldnt go off except when vehicle was turned off abs sensor flashing/staying on, we had problems starting vehicle but when we took it in starter, alternator, battery were fine it would take 30 mins or more to get vehicle to start but it would crank over, one day it stalled and wouldnt start we took it in and were told the fp(9 mos old) and pcm fuse was blowing. We had the fuel pump replaced but was still pulling 16 amps it ran for about 60 miles and died. New fuse and while driving guages went haywire, van died, while filling with brown smoke my son and I were in it both have asthma and dr said to keep him home til he felt better(he was complainig of being tired and sick ) all mechanics agrred it was wiring but couldnt find bad wires, missing grounds anywhere in the vehicle obdii didnt help. Property damage is loss of vehicle, inside ruined window couldnt be put up.

Just about everything that can go wrong with a car, I've experienced it as the owner of this 1999 Ford Windstar lx. I've had transmission work done, brake work, replaced tires (twice in 2 years), replace the battery and the starter. I came to this site because the car wouldn't start, wouldn't take a jump, wouldn't make a sound. I called to have it towed and the gentleman jiggled the key in the ignition and the car started. A few days later the same thing happened again. This time no one could start it. Testing the battery and primary parts for starting the car proved that these parts were all functioning normal. A few hours and $127. 00 later (not including the cost of towing the vehicle) I'm told the problem is with the anti-theft device. It is broken and needs to be replaced to the tune of about $900. 00 with a 90-day warranty. Recommendations to me were to get rid of the car. "this particular part in all Ford vehicles is poorly built. " I haven't decided what I'm going to do at this point, however, I feel pretty sure my decision will not involve staying with Ford.
When the windshield wipers are engaged they will either work for a few seconds and quit or not work at all. Dealership replaced the wiper motor twice, and the front electronic control module. But problems still exists. Recall 01v261000 was issued, but this vehicle was not covered under the recall due to VIN. Also, clunking on the front driver side at low speed or when turning left. Dealership checked the vehicle and later replaced the brake rotor. Starter were also replaced.
Consumer called complaining about having problems with starter. Vehicle was taken into the dealer, and they stated that there was something wrong with the starter, and some interior damage was done. Consuemr was involved in a collision, and she felt that it had something to do with the starter. Manufacturer was contacted, and they were not responsible for anything because there was no recalls.
While driving, the consumer turned the ignition off. Upon starting the vehicle again, the starter made a funny noise. Also, the thermostat was extremely high. The consumer had taken the vehicle to the dealer, and the problem was not resolved. The consumer stated that the radiator was opened and the anti-freeze was low-refilled. The mechanic thought it was the water pump. The head gasket was leaking.

Vehicle would not start, took vehicle to firestone and they replaced the starter. 5 days later, vehicle would not start. Firestone stated it was the pin switch that drained the battery. Consumer states that the transmission failed at 81000 miles.
Consumer has been experiencing ongoing problems with following parts: 1. Automatic transmission slipping in lower speed; 2. Steering would make a popping noise only in wet conditions, and 3. Starter woud grind when starting vehicle. Dealer/manufacturer notified.
Problems with transmission, torque, power steering, and front end stable rods & arms. The transmission and torque had been replaced twice, the power steering once, the font end stable rods and arms twice and remained bad. The battery light had come on and the idler pulley was replaced, there was a creaking/cracking noise when turning the wheel and the outer tie rods were replaced along with the toe being reset, there was a clunk when going over the bumps, there was a vibration underneath due to the transmission, the engine light would come on and off and seemed like the shifts were erratic, the transmission leaked badly, and on some occasions the starter did not engage.
Vehicle has substantial delayed start condition due to defect. Yh.
