37 Electrical System problem of the 2014 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/16/2026

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the transmission shifted from 2nd gear to 3rd gear, and the vehicle shuddered before shifting. The failure also occurred while shifting from 4th gear to 5th gear. The contact ran a diagnostic scan and retrieved information for a loss of communication between the tcm and bcm. The failure was intermittent, and there was no warning light illuminated during the failure. The contact stated that the failure was associated with NHTSA campaign number: 14v614000 (electrical system); however, the contact was advised by a local dealer and the manufacturer that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.

38 Electrical System problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/10/2026

The car has over the last few years not turn off due to shift to park. This is concerning, due to we cannot turn the car off unless we strike the shifter few times assuming this is the remedy. It doesn't look like there is any type of recall but there should be.

39 Electrical System problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/02/2026

For the last 6 months, I keep getting a "shift to park" message on my dashboard indicating that my vehicle is not in park (in which it is). The problem is getting wors, so I called GMC on 5/14/26 to inquire and was informed that my VIN number was not include in the resent class action lawsuit for this issue. I then found out by searching myself on line for other complaints that GMC is very aware of this situation and yet refuses to fix the issue free of charge to customers. According to TSB 19-na-206, t does list my year , make and model of vehicle affected by this faulty part. On 5. 15. 26, I called the dealership to inquire and was informed that my VIN was not covered under warranty (which I had already known), and that that service I would have to pay lots of money out of pocket for it. The service tech did look in the system and claims (without me even knowing that they had did that repair already. . . . He lied I'm for sure). I informed him well if they did repair that part, and I'm still getting an error message about the same thing, clearly its faulty and the dealership should be responsible for fixing it. This was not the case as I was informed it would have to be out of my pocket. This mess is unfair! GMC is well aware of this faulty pat on vehicles, and to refuse to fix it free of charge is just down right hurtful! gms is responsible for repairing this part on everyone's vehicle as it is a hazard to everyone and the community to have a vehicle unstable to be able to slide away from a parked position. This is such a road hazard, something has to be done about it. It's not far that I am expected to pay for these faulty wiring costs out my pocket when its a faulty issue GMC is very well aware of.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2024 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/22/2025

I experienced the brakes squeaking on and off for a few weeks this past summer. When at the dealership for an oil change, I was told the brakes pads were still good and the squeaking is common, especially during hot humid weather. Since then, I have lost the brakes twice. Both times, the pedal went all the way to the floor without resistance and after a few seconds, they came back like nothing happened. There was no warning at all. I have also experienced a complete blackout on my dashboard for about 30 minutes without known reason. On a separate occasion, the battery died for no reason. There have been times that a message is displayed on the dash to service rear turn signal lights. They flash fast as if they were out, then the next time I drive the car, they are completely normal. From what has been reported, there are some serious concerns with the 2024 Acadia. I have leased 3 Acadia's before this one and have never experienced anything like this. The brakes failing completely could have ended very badly for myself and/or others. There are several other reports of this nature. Please look into recalling this vehicle to prevent fatalities!!.

41 Electrical System problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/19/2025

Pulled into a parking space, put the car into park and tried to shut the car off. The warning system said I needed to shift to park. I was in park but could not shut the car off because the car thought I wasnt in park. Took 15 minutes of shifting from park to all gears and shaking the gear shifter before it finally let me shut the vehicle off. This is now the second time this has happened and ive had to have the same thing repaired. They are replacing the whole shifter assembly. Error reads shift to park. This is happening every few years now and at almost 1000 dollars to repair and only lasting a year or so, this is ridiculous.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2023 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/08/2025

My 2023 GMC Acadia experienced a complete electrical system failure while driving on an interstate highway. During the incident, the vehicle lost all electrical power, including hazard lights and steering assistance, and could not be shifted into neutral. The vehicle became immobile in active traffic and required police-ordered towing due to safety risk. This incident was the second alternator failure within six months. The second failure involved a gm-installed replacement alternator that failed prematurely. Both incidents required towing, and the second created a significant roadway safety hazard.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/06/2025

Shift to park message has appeared again and the engine will not cut off. First happened in Feb 2020, mileage was 31,143. Took to dealer and new wiring harness was installed. Had to take back to dealer April 2020 for same problem; shifter assembly was replaced at that time. Shift to park message came back on August 2023. Took back to dealer and shifter harness replaced again and jumper harness was installed. Mileage was 52,993. Shift to park message has once again appeared, December 2025. Having to put car in park and push engine on/off button numerous times before engine will finally shut off. . . . . Sometimes having to unhook battery in order to kill the engine. This will be the fourth time we have had the same recurring issue repaired. My husband read through over half the 352 registered complaints and at least three fourths of them were all about the shift to park problem! as a female, I don't feel safe driving my Acadia not knowing if the engine will cut off or if it's actually in park or if the car will roll. Why can't gm fix this issue!!!!!! they should definitely be held accountable instead of ignoring the complaints!.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/06/2025

There are 2 issues im experiencing. The first is the vehicle won't allow me to shut down the engine because it doesnt recognize that its been shifted into "park". Ive already paid close to 800. 00 to. Have this repaired because my model year is not covered in the recall. Today, it started doing it again. The safety issue is that either I, my wife, or my teenage daughter (depending on who is with the vehicle). Can be left stranded, unless we pop the hood and disconnect the battery. The second issue is that the tire pressure monitor is no longer working. It is sending warnings that our tire pressure is low. When its not. The safety issue is needing to pull to the side of the road to check the tire pressure and also not knowing when the vehicle may actually have a low tire.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

My car says shift to park when I try to turn it off. Leaving my battery to drain.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2014 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

After I put my car in park my daughter and I were still in the vehicle for a few minutes getting our things with the engine still running. I got out to get something from the back seat, my daughter got out the passenger door and made it to the driver side as I was closing the back passenger door. I was about to get back on the car to get the rest of my things and turn the ignition off but before I could my car was rolling backwards out of the driveway into the street. I was able to jump in the vehicle and put my foot on the brake and the put the gear into park. There’s no way possible I didn’t put it in park with me getting out already and my daughter couldn’t have accidentally shift the gear because she couldn’t have been able to get out, close the door and make it to the driver side before it started rolling away. Once I got the car stopped, I noticed the driver seat was now all the way to the steering wheel and completely to the floor with the headrest also tilting inwards and now the electrical for the seat will not work. There is a recall for this issue but my VIN# is not included. I cannot even drive my car now because the seat is so far up and inclined. What if the seat moves up more while I’m driving and it has me pinned between the steering wheel and the seat. I don’t feel safe driving it, having my daughter as a passenger and it’s really not safe to be on the road. I’m still paying on this car and now I won’t even be able to drive to work. So I’ll probably lose my job. This car has multiple issues and I think is an electrical problem. It’s also a known major defect on this model but still not a recall for my VIN #! none of my interior sound works. Speakers, blinkers, alerts, back up camera. The auto start won’t start, I have to press the key fob multiple times to lock and unlock. This car is extremely unsafe to drive and I strongly feel my cars VIN# should be listed under the recall. Its going to really affect my daily life and means of income. Lemon!.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

Shift to park caused by a faulty micro switch. Woukd take up to 30 min to get car in park, leading to engine shutdown failures and possibly battery drain I did replace battery before I knew this was causing this. Messages did appear saying this was an issue ,must shift to park but no indication of how to do it. I got this repaired at barkley GMC Dec 29:30.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2022 GMC Acadia

49 Electrical System problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

While driving get notice lane departure not working and thermostat registered zero, when code scanned, states low thermostat temp and able to reset with code reader. Will reoccur in minters to days later. This is an electrical issue to to the ability to reset with a code scan tool, but also a safety issue since it also effects the electrical safety ability associated with the sensor.

50 Electrical System problem of the 2022 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

Purchased the vehicle in good faith, unaware that the check engine light was illuminated at the time of purchase and not informed that this indicated a serious mechanical or emissions-related issue. After purchase, the dealership repaired an emissions-related problem, and the check engine light was no longer present when the vehicle was returned to me. However, within three days of having the vehicle back in my possession, I began experiencing additional issues, including electrical malfunctions and abnormal noises coming from the front wheels. These problems caused the vehicle to feel unsafe to operate and raised serious concerns about its reliability and overall safety. Due to these concerns, I returned the vehicle to the dealership immediately.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/23/2025

When in park the car is alerting to “shift to park”.

52 Electrical System problem of the 2022 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/23/2025

Multiple times an alert has been given for "driver assist temporarily reduced, drive cautiously". Additionally, the check engine light has come on, with codes for the cooling system. Cooling system fan (hvac blower) remains on after shutting off vehicle for anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Coolant levels have been checked and are correct. Heat & ac function, however the thermostat gauge on the instrument panel does not read any temperature at all. At this time, the vehicle has not been taken to the dealership for assessment due to financial constraints.

53 Electrical System problem of the 2022 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/23/2025

The entire dashboard instrument panel and entertainment screens frequently go black on 2022 Acadia. This occurs intermittently several times per week and has occurred since purchase in Nov 2024.

54 Electrical System problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/22/2025

When parking the vehicle the electrical system will put a warning on the dash indicating you are not in park. A message indicates shift to park. The car will not shut off and you cannot lock the vehicle. This happened when I first bought the vehicle and it was under warranty and repaired. It is now happening a second time in 2025.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/19/2025

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and turned off, the “shift-to-park” warning light illuminated with a continuous audible alert. The vehicle was unable to recognize that the transmission was in park(p). Several attempts were needed to shift to park. The battery was disconnected to turn off the audible alert. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under an associated recall. During the recall repair, the shifter and wiring harness were replaced with part numbers: gm84955381 and gm84733196. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2014 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/14/2025

My 2014 GMC Acadia constantly displays “service stabilitrak,” “service traction control,” abs, brake, and check-engine warning lights. The vehicle will not accelerate past 40 mph under normal driving. Recently, the vehicle began showing “engine power reduced” randomly without any warning, and the vehicle loses power suddenly. The obd2 code p1682 (ignition 1 circuit/relay failure) appears every time. This issue has caused the vehicle to jerk, lose acceleration, and even stall in the middle of an intersection during rush-hour traffic while my children were in the car, creating a serious safety hazard. These warnings and symptoms are constant, and the power-reduction events occur unpredictably. No official inspection has been completed by the manufacturer. The failed component is still in the vehicle and available for inspection. The malfunction affects traction control, stability control, braking systems, and engine power, putting occupants and other drivers at risk.

57 Electrical System problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/14/2025

Seeing the intermittent shift to park messages when the vehicle has been shifted into park and the ignition is turned to the off position. Shifter wire harness jumper & transmission controls a malfunctioning shifter raises fears of potential rollaway accidents, even if such cases remain rare. For anyone who has to park on a slope, this fear can cause serious worry. Yes, there is a service bulletin (19-na-206) no, this is 1 of the only problems I have had with this. The other issues I have had is the clear coating on the rims are peeling.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/05/2025

Shifter problem 2018 GMC Acadia. I never received a recall notice or bulletin about shift to park shifter problem.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2021 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/02/2025

I was driving home and about 10 minutes into my drive I got a notification about my steering assistance being disabled. When I arrived home about 10 minutes or so later and went to shut my car off I noticed that a very loud fan sound from the hood of my vehicle began roaring. I restarted my car and it went away. I looked at my temperature gauge and it was all the way on c. I tried shutting my car off again and the loud electrical fan sound picked right back up again. I stayed in my vehicle while it was turned off waiting to see if it would stop while trying to call for answers. I couldn’t risk having a dead battery for work tomorrow morning. After what was about 6-7 minutes the electrical fan finally shut off. Turns out my aunt just had this exact same issue with her 2021 GMC Acadia as well. According to reddit many people are having this issue yet there is still no recall for this problem. My car is only at 85k miles, has always been dealership maintained and has never had any issues like this until now. If this is a wide spread make and model issue a recall should have been issued.

Failure Date: 10/20/2025

While driving, error popped up stating steering assist is reduced; drive with caution. Heat was no longer working. Engine temp was reading cold even though vehicle had been running for half hour and temp outside was 65 f. After vehicle was stopped, engine fan ran very loudly for at least 15 minutes. Took vehicle in to have diagnostics ran, and received error p0128 pointing to faulty engine coolant thermostat and sensor. Also received u0401 indicating insufficient data coming from ecm/pcm. I was told that together with u0401 and p0128 together indicate a communication problem between control modules. Check engine light was never on.

66 Electrical System problem of the 2025 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/15/2025

I bought this vehicle in August 2025 and October was the first incident that this occurred. What happened was I was driving to pick up my husband and all the warning lights on my car dash started going off and then it died. After we got it started again we took it to the nearest gm dealership and after we parked, we could not get it to shut off then when we started driving again, it died in their parking lot. This has happened multiple times since.

Shift to park light remains on after you’ve put the car in “park” which could potentially run the battery down. Car does not recognize when it is in “park”. Have to “jiggle” the gear a bit, in hopes that it turns off.
