Ist time-car stationary-started car and it started shaking-tractionary control warning came on-turned car off-waited a few minutes and turned it on and it was fine -the next day after driviing 250 miles it happened again after stopping for a toll booth-the car shut down with the same warning-after two tries it started and we drove to a Chevrolet dealer and they replaced the throttle body.

This has been the most unsafe car I have ever owned. I can not even trade it in the get a safer car. We have come so close to having many accidents with this car. The steering just freezes up the engine will just shut down will driving. We have had the transmission replaced once and not it needs replaced again. We are not hard on our cars. . I just hope it does not come down to having a accident before someone sees how bad this car is. . This happens off and on all the time hard to put the dates and times down when this happens, we take into a dealer and it does not happen with them or the cost is just crazy.

The vehicle turns off abruptly while driving. The vehicle as turned off in a parked-idling position, rolling at five mph, and even between 60-70 mph. Most of the time when the car shuts down, you are not able to restart the car without removing the key out of the ignition and inserting it to the on position cycling that motion four to five times. I have researched and spoken to other owners with the same make, model, and year as I have and they are dealing with the same issue. I am certain I am not the only complaint regarding this issue. I am worried about the safety for my family and myself because as mentioned before, this happens at random. There should be some kind of recall for this issue, however there is not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
While driving the car it lost power, all the dash light went off, then the power steering shut down, while driving 45 miles an hr. Once able to pull over, the car shut down and could not start back up. The key would not come out of ignition. Had it towed to the local dealer the car was bought from. They reported it was the engine control module which they replaced but the car still will not turn on. Now the say it is an electrical short and can't find it. . This car is dangerous to drive as this is the second time this has happened and we feel that they are just giving us the run around. This car has been in the shop multiple times and never fixed properly.

Happened 2x already. Vehicle is in motion high rate of speed 55 to 75 mph, engine light comes on and vehicle starts to slow down drastically on its own. Eventually the engine shuts off loosing all power and power steering. Happened once on highway and once on a major busy road. If you try to accelerate there is no power. The vehicle eventually stalls without warning. Once I could not even tell the engine stopped because the dash board lights still worked. Pulled over, wait 10 to 15 minutes and then try to start vehicle. It will start and everything seems normal again. Each time this happened I had my 3 kids in car. Not safe at all. Took it to dealer and they have no clue. Said it may have something to do with transmission.
While I was driving tonight my vehicle shut off in mid turn causing loss of power steering. Where this happened is a very busy intersection. I had to pull over and when I put the car in park and restarted it came on for a second then shut off again. Then was able to get it running again. I had my wife and 6 month old daughter in the car and this could have been a very different outcome. I have read many of complaints online about this same problem in these vehicles. I really feel that gm needs to take a serious look at this issue before something major happens.

Driving at 34-45 mph lose all engine power and have to pull over. Vehicle totally loses all power. Engine shuts off.
I was driving at roughly fifty mph when engine shutoff and put vehicle into neutral to pullover avoiding rear end crash by semi truck I attempted to start vehicle but vehicle engine locked without any warning I called dealer and towed into service and it was something internal in engine and told to wait for more info.
I am requesting a recall on 2008 GMC Acadia's (throttle body). I have a 2008 GMC Acadia that is experiencing major issues. These issues include speed reducing in the middle of a busy intersection with my 16 year old son in the car. The panel displayed a red message "service traction control". Went a few blocks further when the car shut off completely on a busy street; police pushed me off the main street to a less populated side street. Messages displayed on panel "'traction control reducing power". I'm concerned not only for my safety but concerned about the many other customers of GMC who have experienced the same issue (similar issues found on the internet/blogs). My son and I could have been seriously injured if not killed because of this faulty part. I trust that GMC will do the right thing and recall this item before someone is seriously injured.
