36 Equipment problem of the 2026 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/31/2026

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? horn began sounding unexpectedly and intermittently while driving and parked. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the uncontrollable horn startled surrounding motorists and pedestrians, causing confusion and defensive reactions. While removing the fuse temporarily stopped the noise, it eliminated a critical safety feature. The horn remains inoperable as of 4/6/26. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? GMC dealership. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? GMC dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no prior warning. Issue began Jan 31, 2025 (66 days after purchasing the brand new vehicle). Timeline of events: Jan 31, 2026: horn began sounding unexpectedly and intermittently while driving and parked. Per dealership advice, the horn fuse was removed to allow for safe travel. Feb 5, 2026: first service visit. Service advisor reported a "kinked wire" was found and repaired. Feb 15, 2026: issue recurred; horn sounded continuously while driving. Fuse was removed again to disable the horn; it has remained inoperable since. Feb 26, 2026: second service visit. Dealership diagnosed the issue as a faulty steering wheel and placed an order (eta: 7–10 days). Mar 3, 2026: follow-up call. Advised the part was under “national control” with an additional 10-day delay. Mar 13, 2026: dealership notified me that the steering wheel request was denied by gm because the part is restricted and the cause remained unproven. Mar 18–20, 2026: third service visit (loaner provided). New diagnosis identified an internal failure in the sir coil. Part was confirmed as backordered.

37 Equipment problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/16/2026

My 2019 GMC Acadia suffered a "major trans fluid leak" specifically from the transmission accumulator feed pipe. Because of this leak, the transmission lost its necessary hydraulic pressure, leading to "internal damage". This is why I experienced harsh shifts and a complete "missing 3rd gear". This exact part and failure mode are the center of NHTSA recall 20v668. The recall warns that missing bolts on the accumulator can cause a fluid leak, progressing to a total loss of propulsion—which is exactly what has happened to my vehicle.

39 Equipment problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/05/2026

When I put the shifter to park, it still dings and tells me "shift to park" and I struggle to make it go away and to be able to make it stop and be able to lock the car. It happens every time I drive it. Thank you.

40 Equipment problem of the 2021 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/03/2026

My car suddenly out of the blue started overheating. By the time I could get stopped safely and turn the car off the engine fan kept running to try to cool it down. I’ve never had any issues with my car. It only has 47,000 miles on it. I now have to have it towed to a mechanic shop to get diagnosed, but I’m hearing that it’s probably a thermostat and that the GMC Acadia’s are famous for that being a problem. I’m not sure why GMC would not do a recall on this part! this is an extremely expensive fix.

41 Equipment problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/02/2026

In March of 2022 at around 79,000 miles, the temperature gauge was intermittently stuck on cold with the cooling fan constantly running and “steering assist reduced” displayed in the dic. The car was found to have a bad thermostat which was replaced at the dealership on 3/28/2022. About 2 months ago the car started doing the same exact thing again. I have an appointment at the same dealership on March 23. It is likely the same problem again and I have only driven about 50,000 miles since the last time it was fixed. The car is now out of warranty. This is apparently a common recurrent with these model cars. There is in fact a service bulletin released about this very issue. GMC should replace and repair this issue since it is clearly a flaw.

42 Equipment problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/26/2025

When trying to put car in park a "shift to park" notice appears on dashboard not allowing the car to be turned off. It takes multiple attemps be able to get the car into park and turn off. This has been an ongoing problem for several years and reported to the dealer. To date the dealer tells me there is nothing wrong with the car. Battery has been changed multiple times.

43 Equipment problem of the 2024 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/20/2025

On or about I experienced the check engine light on the above vehicle. After checking, the issue has something to do with the low level in the coolant system. I took the vehicle to a maguire Chevrolet dealership in grand island new york. They charged me $200. 00 +tax for diagnosis. They found the radiator hose was leaking and it isn't covered by the warranty or extended warranty. I took the GMC to another shop for repair. They were told by 3 dealerships the part is on back order and they do not know when it will be in. Just to be sure, I called the GMC dealership in rome new york where the vfw purchased the vehicle. I was told they were put of stock but there wasn't an issue. That was on 12/24/2025. The salesman said he would call me on Friday to verify the status of the hose needed. As of 12/29/2025 at 13:00hrs there hasn't been a call back. My feeling is there must be an issue with the hose in question. The should be a recall and gm should repair the leaking part. 44 Equipment problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/19/2025

Pulled into a parking space, put the car into park and tried to shut the car off. The warning system said I needed to shift to park. I was in park but could not shut the car off because the car thought I wasnt in park. Took 15 minutes of shifting from park to all gears and shaking the gear shifter before it finally let me shut the vehicle off. This is now the second time this has happened and ive had to have the same thing repaired. They are replacing the whole shifter assembly. Error reads shift to park. This is happening every few years now and at almost 1000 dollars to repair and only lasting a year or so, this is ridiculous.

45 Equipment problem of the 2024 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/11/2025

The upper radiator hose, which is part of the vehicle’s engine cooling system, failed prematurely. The component is available for inspection upon request, and documentation of the repair and replacement can also be provided. Failure of the upper radiator hose caused coolant loss, creating a risk of engine overheating and sudden vehicle disablement. This posed/poses a safety risk, particularly if the failure had occurred at highway speeds or in traffic, where an unexpected breakdown could endanger the driver and surrounding vehicles. The issue was confirmed by an authorized GMC dealership, which diagnosed the failed upper radiator hose and performed the replacement. This issue has also been reported by multiple owners of the same model year, indicating a recurring problem. The vehicle and failed component were inspected by an authorized GMC dealership. No inspection by police or insurance representatives was required, as this was a mechanical failure and not the result of an accident. Prior to the failure, symptoms included coolant loss and cooling system concerns, which ultimately required dealership diagnosis. Any warning indicators appeared shortly before the issue was identified, with little to no advance warning before the component required replacement.

46 Equipment problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/10/2025

2018 Acadia denali with less than 50,000 miles on the vehicle. Had to replace the coolant temperature sensor and thermostat. Less than 30 days later. The check engine light came on and the code was coolant temperature sensor and thermostat. Code p0128$07e8.

47 Equipment problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/09/2025

Shift to park issue - this is a know issue/recall for the 2019 GMC Acadia yet it when I enter my VIN number the recall doesn't show up as a problem. Yet it took me 10 tries yesterday to try and turn my car off because each time I went to turn it off, I got the message to shift it to park. This has been occurring weekly since I purchased the used car in August 2025.

48 Equipment problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/06/2025

There are 2 issues im experiencing. The first is the vehicle won't allow me to shut down the engine because it doesnt recognize that its been shifted into "park". Ive already paid close to 800. 00 to. Have this repaired because my model year is not covered in the recall. Today, it started doing it again. The safety issue is that either I, my wife, or my teenage daughter (depending on who is with the vehicle). Can be left stranded, unless we pop the hood and disconnect the battery. The second issue is that the tire pressure monitor is no longer working. It is sending warnings that our tire pressure is low. When its not. The safety issue is needing to pull to the side of the road to check the tire pressure and also not knowing when the vehicle may actually have a low tire.

49 Equipment problem of the 2025 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/04/2025

I accidentally ran out of gas and my car died directly underneath a railroad crossing arm. I had been stopped to allow an amtrak train to go by and my car died when I started to move forward after it passed. Thankfully I wasn't on the tracks, but I was close to them. I immediately got out of my car and the woman behind me said she would help push me out of the way of the crossing arm. I went to put my car in neutral, something I do weekly when I go through the car wash, but my dash kept saying "conditions not correct for shift". I tried repeatedly and it would not allow me to put the car in neutral because I couldn't fully turn it on. I did a quick search online and found there was no information on how to get it into neutral if the car is dead. My battery was still working and my car was in accessory while I was trying to change gears. I had to call 911 and they had to reach out to bnsf to alert incoming trains. It was an ordeal. I spotted a tree removal company across the street and they had a can of gas for me to use. I was able to partially fill my tank and then drive across the tracks before a train came. Afterwards I called the dealer and we discovered together that there is no backup safety feature that allows a disabled car to be put into neutral. The dealer was just as surprised as me. This seems like an obvious safety issue if a car is to break down on train tracks, the middle of the freeway, or in an intersection. I don't understand why it is allowed and why dealerships and the public are seemingly unaware of it.

50 Equipment problem of the 2025 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

Our onstar module has stopped working since last November after a software update and now issues are starting to cascade causing many other electrical issues to the point that I expect the car to leave my wife and 15 month old daughter stranded. Ours and many other vehicles are having this issue and when any question is asked to gm no response is given or we’re just told to keep waiting.

51 Equipment problem of the 2014 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

After I put my car in park my daughter and I were still in the vehicle for a few minutes getting our things with the engine still running. I got out to get something from the back seat, my daughter got out the passenger door and made it to the driver side as I was closing the back passenger door. I was about to get back on the car to get the rest of my things and turn the ignition off but before I could my car was rolling backwards out of the driveway into the street. I was able to jump in the vehicle and put my foot on the brake and the put the gear into park. There’s no way possible I didn’t put it in park with me getting out already and my daughter couldn’t have accidentally shift the gear because she couldn’t have been able to get out, close the door and make it to the driver side before it started rolling away. Once I got the car stopped, I noticed the driver seat was now all the way to the steering wheel and completely to the floor with the headrest also tilting inwards and now the electrical for the seat will not work. There is a recall for this issue but my VIN# is not included. I cannot even drive my car now because the seat is so far up and inclined. What if the seat moves up more while I’m driving and it has me pinned between the steering wheel and the seat. I don’t feel safe driving it, having my daughter as a passenger and it’s really not safe to be on the road. I’m still paying on this car and now I won’t even be able to drive to work. So I’ll probably lose my job. This car has multiple issues and I think is an electrical problem. It’s also a known major defect on this model but still not a recall for my VIN #! none of my interior sound works. Speakers, blinkers, alerts, back up camera. The auto start won’t start, I have to press the key fob multiple times to lock and unlock. This car is extremely unsafe to drive and I strongly feel my cars VIN# should be listed under the recall. Its going to really affect my daily life and means of income. Lemon!.

52 Equipment problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

Shift to park caused by a faulty micro switch. Woukd take up to 30 min to get car in park, leading to engine shutdown failures and possibly battery drain I did replace battery before I knew this was causing this. Messages did appear saying this was an issue ,must shift to park but no indication of how to do it. I got this repaired at barkley GMC Dec 29:30.

When in park the car is alerting to “shift to park”.

54 Equipment problem of the 2022 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/21/2025

Coolant temperature gauge stops working and shows cold temperature reading. The radiator fan runs for about 2 minutes as if the engine is overheating. I think it's a temperature sensor issue or thermostat issue or both.

55 Equipment problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/14/2025

Seeing the intermittent shift to park messages when the vehicle has been shifted into park and the ignition is turned to the off position. Shifter wire harness jumper & transmission controls a malfunctioning shifter raises fears of potential rollaway accidents, even if such cases remain rare. For anyone who has to park on a slope, this fear can cause serious worry. Yes, there is a service bulletin (19-na-206) no, this is 1 of the only problems I have had with this. The other issues I have had is the clear coating on the rims are peeling.

56 Equipment problem of the 2025 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/12/2025

I was driving on a two-lane road when unexpectedly my front moonroof spontaneously shattered sending glass down on top of me, the console area, and the passenger and rear seating areas of my 2025 GMC Acadia. It happened without warning and no external factors. It was a pleasant sunny November day. The moonroof was not open at the time. Fortunately no one else was in the vehicle with me at the time and no other cars were nearby since the two-lane is not a heavy traffic area. This put my safety at risk and could have put others at risk had others been in the vehicle or nearby since I was startled and had the natural reaction of crouching over and down in an attempt to protect myself therefore taking my eyes off the road and not paying enough attention to driving the vehicle. Glass could have fallen and hurt other passengers. The remaining moonroof glass crackled and I then looked up in shock wondering what happened and then feared glass fall into my eyes and immediately looked down away from the moonroof. I had just left my residence before the incident and was less than two miles from home. I found the next available place to turn around and drive back to my home and exit the vehicle. I then called the dealership I bought the vehicle from in January 2025, new. I also called gm customer service to seek assistance. The vehicle has 7125 miles. There were no warning signs. The incident happened today and no one has inspected the vehicle and its damage. A customer service case was opened with gm. I sent pictures to the dealer service manager who said he attached the pictures to my gm case online.

60 Equipment problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

When I put the car in park, I get an error message that says shift to park and it takes putting in park numerous times to get it to clear so I can trun the car off and lock it. I know there have been some models that have been recalled due to this problem, however mine is not included in that recall. I would like to know why it is not included and if there is any help available to correct this issue.

61 Equipment problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

I continue to get a message "steering assist is reduced drive with care " this appears to be a very common issue with my vehicle model. It is very expensive to fix. I am just outside of warranty so it is not covered. Online indicates this is so common. It is the vehicle thermostat and sensor prematurely going bad.

62 Equipment problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

63 Equipment problem of the 2019 GMC Acadia

64 Equipment problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/23/2025

GMC customer care representative & local GMC service department supervisor unable to help. 2017 Acadia shift to park message. It’s difficult to turn the car off. The vehicle refuses to acknowledge the park position. Potential rollaway hazard. You may inspect. Took it to GMC service & confirmed it is a prevalent issue: transmission control 13534320 = gearshift assembly & jumper harness 84733196. This problem has been recurring for several years and I have problem solved how to shut the car off. GMC customer care rep said it’s an issue with all 2017 Acadias and tried to help. The system deemed it complicated case & escalated it to a supervisor. She read a “customer care” script. After talking, she admitted that realistically GMC would not help. Yesterday, she advised me to file a complaint with NHTSA. I read that 2 other states ohio & tennessee won class action lawsuits because of the hazardous shift to park issue. If GMC issued recalls for 2017 Acadia shift to park then my 2017 GMC Acadia should have been included. I have been waiting for the recall for several years. GMC admits the problem is prevalent in 2017 GMC Acadias. Would you please issue a recall associated with this issue and link it to my VIN. Thank you.

65 Equipment problem of the 2025 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/23/2025

I purchased this 2025 GMC Acadia on 3/29/2025. About a week into owning it, the navigation stopped working. Onstar was able to reset my system. Then, about a month later, the vehicle locked my keys in the cabin without my knowledge. Onstar was able to unlock my vehicle remotely. Then, on 10/23/2025, I noticed my navigation was not showing my true location. I tried the google assistant, and it wasn't connected. After further investigation, my wifi hotspot was not working either, along with other connectivity apps. I researched how to manually reset my system and followed all prompts; that did not fix the problem. I pressed the onstar button, and nothing happened; no connection. I thought that maybe the vehicle needed to cycle a few times. I let this continue for about a week before calling onstar from my phone. They told me to press my sos button; if it didn't connect, then I would need to take the vehicle to the dealership. So I took it to the dealership 11/6/25. They tried to download the update to my vehicle multiple times, over 6 hours at the shop, and the vehicle wouldn't accept the update. It is determined that the onstar telematics control module is defective. The dealership says the part is backordered, and they do not have an eta for arrival. After perusing the gm/onstar forums, I am seeing that this is a repeated issue for many customers on vehicles as old as 2018, and the part doesn't come for 6 months or more in most cases. It does seem more prevalent with vehicles 2022-current. The issue here is that onstar is touted as a safety feature, and I have been given 3 years of free onstar service. I am unable to utilize the service (roadside assistance, accident assistance, and navigation) and many other features because of this. Gm is aware that this is an issue, and the module is backordered when it should be readily available, since these issues seem to be commonplace. My brand new vehicle should work without issue and should be repaired promptly.

66 Equipment problem of the 2022 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/23/2025

Message with “steering assist reduced, drive with care” pops up on the screen. The temperature gauge drops to on the cold side. After you shut off the car the fan will run for 10 minutes trying to “cool” the car. The temperature cannot regulate.

67 Equipment problem of the 2018 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/20/2025

I have owned this vehicle less than 5 years and it has had the "shift to park" error 3 times and has now been replaced 3 times. The 2nd time was in August 2023 and yesterday it had to be replaced again. I don't understand how a part can fail this rapidly when the vehicle is only being driven approximately 10,000 miles per year. It only has 82,445 miles. I would like for gm to issue a recall for this issue or advise who the manufacturer is of the switch part number 84955381 and harness part number 84733196. The parts are not that expensive but the labor to replace was $ 462. 50 and total parts was $ 55. 56 on the invoice yesterday. As this is an ongoing issue I would like reimbursement. I am widowed and living on one income.

68 Equipment problem of the 2025 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/15/2025

Since delivery, my 2025 GMC Acadia at4 has had severe wind noise from the driver's side window at highway speeds. The noise sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard and at times as though the window may shatter. I have taken it to the dealership 4 times with no resolution. I provided video clearly capturing the noise and was still told they could not hear it. I have confirmed the dealer road tests the vehicle in morning traffic at low speeds — where the noise cannot occur. It only happens at highway speeds. Their "cannot duplicate" finding is the result of inadequate testing, not the absence of a defect. After sitting for approximately 7 days, condensation builds up inside the cabin, indicating the driver's side window seal is improperly installed. I reported this to the dealer as well with no fix. After 4 visits, dismissed video evidence, and improper test procedures, the defect remains unrepaired. I request NHTSA investigate this as a potential widespread issue on 2025 GMC Acadia vehicles.

69 Equipment problem of the 2021 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/14/2025

Recently took vehicle for alignment for a pull to the right. After 3 alignments at the dealership I was told the rack and pinion gear sensor shorted out causing the vehicle to pull to the right. Also the exhaust has a rattle in the resonator confirmed by 2 sources. I asked the dealer to fix years ago under bumper to bumper and TSB pit5863. I was told not enough techs and not enough time so now the warranty is expired and the issue isn't fixed.

70 Equipment problem of the 2023 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/10/2025

My 2023 GMC Acadia consistently makes a sound at lower speeds when it is changing gears. For example, accelerating or accelerating for stoplights. The sound is kind of a ka clunk. The technician can find nothing and does hear the sound when we go for a test ride. I am worried that the sound indicates a transmission problem. The VIN search does not show a recall for my vehicle.
