2 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2010

We have a 2004, GMC Envoy xuv, which we purchase brand new in 2004. Since last year winter, I noticed that my speedometer would get stuck and run erratically, which I thought at the time was due to the cold. Occasionally too, we'd come to the garage to find the rear window open and the tailgate unable to open. During those times, we were able to bring the window back up with the button inside the vehicle, as well as unlock the tailgate by locking and unlocking the doors with the remote. Also, the truck would stall during driving, especially at turns, but would start again. Just last week, my wife was just about to leave home last week, when she noticed the rear tailgate window had gone down by itself as usual; following which all electronic efforts to bring it up failed, and the tailgate or roof wouldn't open as well. Then, we heard some humming inside the tailgate. My wife left home only to have the truck's battery fail at the local mall. Since then, the instrument cluster has also continuously gone haywire, with the speedometer reading erratically as well as the oil pressure gauge. The dealership says there are no recalls regarding any of these manufacturing defects, and my research indicates these are problems most GMC Envoy xuv owners are experiencing, without recourse of having it fixed by gm at no charge. Now, we know why they have lost the market share to japan vehicles, because our next vehicle will never be a gm, unless all these problems are recalled and fixed. We'll also ensure to mount a lack-of-confidence campaign against gm vehicles with everyone we know, if nothing is done about ASAP by gm.

3 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2008

After getting an oil change the technician went to pull the car out of the bay and the car just died. It appeared first that the battery may have died. There was no power at all. Next after letting the vehicle sit for a minute we attempted to turn on the ignition and all the gauges went crazy, registering as if I was driving. Then as in the another complaint, upon attempting to start the vehicle, all the dash board warning lights and turn signal indicators came on and stayed on. All the gauges started acting erratically and all the needle indicators started jumping at random. The next time I tried to start the vehicle again the vehicle did the very same thing as mentioned above (gauges acting erratically, etc. ). I attempted to start the vehicle several more time each time with the same result. Prior to this experience the oil gauge had stop registering and had malfunction about one year earlier. After my favorite mechanic came to rescue me hot wired the fuse box to allow for me to drive the vehicle home. He said that the fuses were not getting the 12 volts need to operate the vehicle. I'm now waiting on the diagnosis.

4 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2005

Headlights, driving lights and all interior lighting dim and flicker approx every 30 seconds. Has been this way for over 10 days, dealer cannot diagnose problem until the "service engine soon" light comes on, which it hasn't. It is nearly impossible to drive at night with dim, flashing, headlights, and is confusing to other drivers. Also, a fan can be heard blowing off & on approx once every minute, and this is with the vehicle completely turned off and the key out of the ignition. This is constant, I'm concerned the battery will be dead and the car won't start, or that the lights will completely go out while I am driving at night. Rear passenger door locks suddenly stopped working with the remote and the door unlock switch on the driver's door. I have to climb over the front seat into the back to physically unlock the door to remove my children from the car.
