The contact owns a 2004 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, the contact noticed that the front passenger's door was on fire. The contact stated that he arrived home just in time and noticed the fire. The contact stated that, because it was raining, the contact's wife had powered the window up; however, the contact noticed that the window was down when the fire occurred. In addition, the contact stated that the fire was blazing, and after the fire was extinguished, the smoke was still visible. The contact extinguished the fire. The contact disconnected the battery. In addition, the contact stated that it could have been a huge fire because the fuel tank had just been refilled prior to the failure. Headlight's,taillight's,turn signals stop working whenever they want. It's pretty scary to lose your headlight's when your driving at night. There's nothing I can do about it,except to sit wherever it happend and wait for them to come back on. My wife was following me one day and told me my brakelight's and turn signal stopped working and started to work again, she said this happened a couple time's at the same red light. There a couple of thing's (electrical)inside the vehicle that don't work anymore but I really dont care about them. To get the odometer to work I have to knock pretty hard on the plastic cover that cover's the instrument cluster, sometimes it stay's on,most of the time it wont stay on. The dic (driver control center) doesn't work anymore. I cant even get to it. The speakers on the left side of the vehicle dont work anymore. I thought I would tell you about the inside also because it could be part of the problem. All of this happened when I was driving home from my daughter's two night's ago. I bought this vehicle about three or four's year's ago,and I had no problem's with it untill the other night. The person I bought it from is a good friend of mine. He said he never had a problem with it,plus I have been in this vehicle countless times, that's why I bought it. Thank you.
Front passenger seat caught on fire from the seat heater. The vehicle parked and turned off. It was parked in a high school parking lot while my daughter was in school. We contacted GMC, but they said it there was nothing they could do. There was something that went wrong for it to just catch fire. Can you help us in anyway at all.
Driving at a low speed down hill on a city street, with the car in the drive position, the car stalled. This happened again driving on a flat service of a parking lot of a shopping center. Again, with the car in the drive position going at a low speed the car stalled.
The abs light stayed on after the fact I had the breaks serviced a few years ago. The airbag light has been on for about a year. Now my break light stopped working, I replaced the fuse and still not working and now the headlamps stopped working. They only work on high beam.
The contact owns a 2004 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the vehicle's electrical system stopped the vehicle from starting. There were unknown warning indicators illuminated at the time of the failure. The vehicle was towed multiple times due to failing to start. An independent mechanic stated that there was a cable disconnected, but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure occurred again and the vehicle was taken to jessup auto plaza (68-111 e palm canyon dr, cathedral city, CA 92234, (760) 328-9999). The technician was unable to locate a failure and the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure occurred again. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 72,338.
The third brake light connections located in the rear tailgate are severely corroded and will not light up when braking. This condition does not allow passing of state inspection. The entire brake light assembly and wire harness must to replaced to pass state vehicle inspection. This condition is continuous, when parked, when driving (we followed it around the block to see if it jiggled on), I have nothing to upload because the brake light will not light up.
I was driving and my vehicle on I-985 hall county GA. My check gage light came on and less than 1/2 of a mile it start to smoke and burn as soon as I stopped turned of the ignition. It burnt to the ground from the engine area to the inside.
I was in the highway tail lights weren't working in was headed to idaho due to that im still in north dakota also like a month ago I was pulled over in the city for no back lights it's happen 4 or 5 times two on a 15 hour road trip. Tailgate has open twice once in city and on highway now it doesn't shut at all its been like that for 5 months now and it started to not want to open or close the roof part as well it sound as if its jam. I worry about my safety and public as well. Just paid over 2400. 00 for rebuilding trany, power steering, and my gear shift as well it would not shift it snap off. Transmission went out 6 hours before I got to my destination. It was towed to a trany shop around Nov. 12/2015 picked up Feb. 23/2016 hoping they would fix all the rest of defects it has. You name it this Envoy has it or has had it from headlights bulb being replaced every so often and melting were light bulb goes, a/c and heater don't work properly driver side is hot and passenger cold or vice-versa. The passenger back sit I would not know. Midwindow doesn't work it doesn't roll up or down or that latch that comes down to haul stuff as well it doesn't work. When I roll my power windows my headlight and engine idle powers goes down as if there is an electrical problem. I've invested on this Envoy a week later when I drove it out of the yard. I have all my receipts from professional mechanics. Its been a bad experience. I hope my trany doesn't go out after I'm done fix all this other problems. I read after someone had rebuild the trany 13 months later he had the same problem again with his Envoy. It's not safe to operate a vehicle with so many issues especialy with no back lights going from good to not working. Every time I have to be checking if I have my rear lights are working or in front and also my front low light I have no visibility what so ever. They are so dull.
My GMC Envoy was parked unattended in my driveway directly next to my house. My sons and I were in the backyard playing when my oldest son went to retrieve his ball from the driveway. He came back screaming mom your truck is on fire. I immediately ran over to see the truck full of fire and smoke. I called 911. The truck damage was already done before the firefighters arrived. It appeared to come from the driver side window area. After doing some research I learned a lot of GMC trucks had recalls on certain parts that could put the vehicle at risk for a for setting it's self on fire. I never received any information on recalls for the window switch or was aware of the national recall until I looked into it the evening of the fire. I strongly believe the window switch is what caused the fire. It had to be a defective product made by the manufacturing company.
Vehicle was being driven on a two way highway at approximately 55 mph. Vehicle lost engine power while driving and the gas pedal lost resistance and went to the floor. Vehicle was steered over to the side of the road. While the vehicle was steered over to the side of the road, check engine and other dash lights started flashing chaotically. White smoke started coming from under the hood. Within a short time, white smoke turned into black smoke and then flames started to appears. The fire under the hood eventually continued to grow until it completely burned the engine compartment most of the first two rows of the interior before the firemen arrived and were able to put out the fire.
Passenger window went down with vehicle off. Smoke came from inside the right front door panel. When the smoke cleared, I disassembled the door and found the window switch with a large hole burned in it. Pics available upon request.
Nothing but this has been nothing but trouble since I bought for that dealership. Guy from todd wenzel grand rapids michigan. I had just back into the shop several times they will not do anything about it she's just used to going ever since I bought this car and your is something wrong with the engine itself it cuts out car smells like something burning I do not feel safe in this car and I still owe on it I like to report todd wenzel Buick to the better business bureau they're lousy people thank you also sent all this information GMC and have not got anywhere.
The cruise control is intermittent.
Bought new. Nothing but problems with electrical system. Most started out of warrenty. Entire instrument panel stopped working, had to replace. Radio system comes and goes, most of the time not working. A/c heating blower stopped working. Different componant like window, wipers, door lock just operate on they own then lock up. Issues with ignition. Can't remove the key. Now rear window goes down on its own. Vehicle won't start, rear tail gate won't operate. Only way to start is by jumping but once turned off the battery drains so can't go anywhere because you're u never know if it going to start again.
I picked up my kids and niece from school and was visiting at my brothers house for a few hours (3 to be exact) when my kids and I went to leave my rear window was shattered. I filed a police report and the officer could not see any reason for my window to shatter like it did.
I was driving down the road from work all of a sudden my radio starts going up /down by itself, then the next day my windows made a clicking noise now they want let up/down . Also the back tailgate was working unitl this happen my window in back want let up/down nor will the sunroof controls want work. All this happen at once !!!!!! the fuses was check nothing found.
Parked the vehicle in a parking garage so I know the lights were working when we went in. As we were leaving approximately 3 hours later, the low beams would not come on at all. Had to run high beams; had several people look at the fuses, replaced bulbs, etc. But they could not find the problem. A couple of weeks later just before I was taking it to a dealer to look at the problem the low beams began working again. Approximately two months later the exact same thing happened only this time I heard a faint noise from the engine compartment and smelled a burning (seemed electrical) aroma for a few seconds when I realized the low-beam lights were not working again. After a week or so the lights came back on again.
My 2004 GMC Envoy has 90,000 miles and the headlights and tail lights keep flickering when I start it. And when driving down the road they flicker. The gauges on the dash for the charging system goes up and down. I have had it to a chevy dealer 4 times know, first time they told me the throttle body needed cleaned. They did it. Picked it up and then it was just as bad. Took it back and they ran test and said it has to do with a plug for the secondary air injection system. They replaced it. Still doing ity. They told me there is no fix for the problem know they tell me my secondary air pump air is bad and needs replaced. There has to be a fix for this problem. I cant spend money that don't fix the problem I afraid to drive it at night. Going down my driveway the lights went all the way out and back on. Anything you can do or tell me what I can do will help. Thank you.
Stopped at street like, light went green started to move forward and car goes dead. No lights on dash, nothing showing, just stops abruptly. After a few moments tried restarting car and it came back on with check engine light. P0606 pcm failure code displayed. Could have been rear ended by semi truck behind me or killed if I was trying to turn left at intersection.
The contact owns a 2004 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the speedometer failed to function. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was found that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
The speedometer and oil pressure gauges are irratic. Speedometer needle sometimes reads up to 30 mph above or below actual speed. Concurrently the oil pressure gauge is reading at its max and will not return to 0 when the vehicle is turned off. I have researched this issue online and it seems to be happening to a lot of people who have cars with these panels.
First noticed reduced radio volume as if speakers were not completely connected. They radio would work correctly from time to time. Service dept said it would have to replace entire dash system. Then noticed rear door/tailgate would not open as a door, next the tailgate stopped functioning all together; this makes the rear part of the xuv useless and dangerous. Dealer stated that is electronic and that all tailgate/rear door hinges rusted due to water coming in where rear window is/ estimate is over $650. 00 and it would happen again!!! next the driver's door will not unlock except by manual unlocking from inside and sometime the key will not unlock to driver's door. Key fob will not work on driver's door, tailgate/rear door; however, key fob works on passenger doors. Dealer stated that the tailgate/rear door issue has a history of this happening so why isn't there a recall???? when will GMC make this right???.
My car overheated on a normal day, about 80 degrees outside. I checked and replaced a defective thermostat, and started the engine only to find it misfiring badly for the first time. I gained advise from a local auto store and changed my spark plugs. When I pulled out the old ones, I found three of the six covered in oil. Upon further research, I was instructed to remove the manifold and replace the tube seals but the plastic manifold cover would not come off as indicated in a gm mechanics manual. This is the last of several problems I've had with the 2004 GMC Envoy xuv 2wd inline 6. I see many complaints on the oily spark plug issue and cracked manifold but no tsbs. Last year, I had my a/c compressor go out and replaced, my gas tank leak and replaced under a 'special warranty', a diagnosis that my heater core is bad, all three motor mounts go out and replaced, and a number of various small electronic components go out. I need GMC to correct these issues outstanding with my vehicle and expect appropriate action from them. I spent well over $40000 for this vehicle and its not even 10 years old yet. Gm has been well known for long life of their engines and body frames, and have said so on their behalf. They need to live up to the reputation I have so loyally painted for them.
I have been reading many of these post. I can't believe all of the things that have also happened to my Envoy. I have had my back window blow out while driving, thank god that both of my kids that were in the back seat were not hurt, they were just scared and still ask if it will happen again. I also recently just had to have a piece on the gas line fixed which was almost $900. 00 money that I didn't have and had to borrow. I am still paying it back. Now as for last night my low beams are not working, I bought new bulbs and that didn't work, so it is back to the mechanic. Oh and I have a check engine light that goes on and off. They really need to get on all of these things. It would be nice to have the car working the way it should be. I may just print these things up and bring to the GMC shop and see what the can do about it. I mean I really to love my SUV but this is crazy. I am now kind of scared to have my kids in the car.
On June 8 2013 both the driver and passenger seat power adjustments ceased to operate or respond in any way. Both seat stuck in a full back position. The next day, June 9 2013, the vehicle was at idle and in park for no more than 4 or 5 minutes, when an odd smell was noticed. A small electrical fire to include sparks and a lot of smoke then erupted under the passenger seat. The driver turned the vehicle off, and the passenger and 18 month old child, and driver all exited the vehicle. The fire died, and the smoke cleared. Waited 15 minutes, restarted the vehicle with no problems. The vehicle was dropped off the next day, June 10 2013, a chevy dealership. The vehicle is currently under diagnoses.
While driving another motorist saw smoke coming from rear of vehicle and got vehicle stopped on side of road at which time the engine compartment was engulfed in flames. Called fire dept and police. Fire spread through the hearer box into the vehicle and across dash until it began burning the headliner. Fire dept put out fire but was a total loss. There was no indication on instrument panel of any problems (all gages showing normal readings).
The "check gauges" light flashes followed by "low oil pressure" followed by "stop engine" and the engine stalls. Each time this happens the ac has been on. Sent to dealer and they were unable to reproduce this issue. Has happened 3 times now. Very scary.
I have had an overwhelming smell of gasoline for weeks and my speedometer was only working intermittently. I took my car to an auto store and had them put it on the computer the code read small evap leak so I bought a new gas cap to attempt to resolve the issue. That didn't work so I took my car to the mechanic for it to be checked out as my check engine light came back on. On the first visit he scanned the computer and codes read po 442 & 445 ? small/large emission leak, he checked all components and could find nothing. I took my car back as the speedometer issue was getting worse and the gas smell was still present the same code came up for the emission/evap leak and still nothing for the speedometer issue. He then did a smoke test and found that there was a crack in the filler neck of the plastic gas tank that cannot be repaired and must be replaced. He replaced the speedometer sender which still did not fix the issue. After much research I have found both of these issues to be a serious problem with other Envoy owners. I would like to know why there has not been a recall on these parts and why GMC is leaving the cost of repairs up to the owners. These are manufactureâ??s defects. This is supposed to be a reputable company. I have called into GMC support and they as well as staff at a GMC dealership stated that this was the same issue as was stated in a recall but my VIN number wasn't included so no financial help was given. $1,215. 29 later I have a new gas tank and my speedometer still does not work. This is ridiculous. . . Take ownership for your product malfunctions!!! how many complaints does there need to be before a recall is issued on these vehicle issues?.
Lock completely out of back hatch wire acts as if it has a short which shuts the whole back down I am unable to use my rear wiper at all interfere with my steroe shutting of when u turn off Envoy when it shouldn't have been locked completely out of the rear bottom and the glass hatch I do not use my hatch now because I don't want to be locked out again it has happen twice and this not under warranty have seen othe complaints online due to same issues has there been a recall on this I have only had this Envoy for 4 months and to be honest I think it messes with the air I have duel air and the passenger side gets colder quicker than the driver and never seemed to do this untill the wires g started messing up in the rear.
When in traffic traveling across states on highway at 55-65 mph left lane(scary) I ran out of gas when the gauge showed 1/4 of a tank now when tank is full it read 1/2 and at times the gauge floats around full to empty when driving some time it reads empty when I put 10 gallons in was told a bad fuel sender in tank I read other reports that g m recall will only pay half the cost to repair??.
Fuel gauge varies wildly from empty to full . Bad place to run out of gas on I, 95 in the fast lane.
Dashboard and gauges kept malfunction speed odometer reading incorrect had to replace also rear door burned out very costs very high.
Cluster want power up properly at start up. Warning lights give false information. And now radio sometimes want play correctly. Ac fan want work on all speeds also at times. I looked up recalls and there was one 03v096000 but it did not cover my year. You can get different displays giving bad information on every start up.
The rpm (tac) failed and started jumping all over. On 09-14-14 the speedometer started to fail. Did not fix the rpm (tac) at the time. This apparently is an on going problem with these years in the GMC product. Is it a safety issure - yes!!! one now cannot tell ones speed which could cause an accident or a citation to the driver because of this problem. To fix this instrument cluster will be in the $600. 00 range. I believe GMC was well aware of this problem in the past years and ignored it - causing owners an undue expense on a vehicle that they paid thousands of dollars for. We bought this vehicle new and have had GMC vehicles for years - unless GMC stands up and takes responsiblity I will not consider another gm product. The air conditional line failed in 2014 because of it rubbing on the frame causing me to shut off the rear air conditioner because of the cost to fix it. Gm not allowing after market parts for this fix.
