1 Battery problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 05/31/2012

I have owned a GMC all my adult life. This Envoy has been nothing but problems . . . . Now the gauges seem to be all screwed up and after reading post from online. . I will need to put more time and more money into this SUV. Nothing like driving late at night worried about what's happening now. I go from sitting at a red light and my car losing pressure and turning off, to now every time I get into it and leave my house I hear the door bell and all my panels symbols flash and shows no gas to no battery life. . I am not pleased and will never purchase a gm again. . So sad.

2 Battery problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 05/11/2012

The tailgate will occasionally not open. The actuator has already been replaced. The electrical system seems to also "act"up when this happens. The remote takes several times to open the doors. We have replaced the battery several times, the dome light does not come on anymore, the stereo turns off immediately when you turn the engine off, instead of staying on until you open one of the doors.

3 Battery problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 05/12/2011

While driving, several indicator lights came on in the instrument panel. (abs, seatbeat, battery primarily) these lights stay on for a while and then go off, one by one. After putting the car in park, the battery life meter dropped to zero. I turned the car off and the car would not re-start. After having it towed to a repair shop, the battery itself tested that it was good. I replaced the battery, anyway, hoping it solved the issues, but the lights on the instrument panel continue to turn on while driving. After a day or so, they turn off and then days later will come on again. I have had this car checked multiple times by two different repair shops and neither could find a solution outside of replacing the instrument panel. After searching the internet, this seems to be a known problem with this car and other GMC models have been recalled for the same problem. Why hasn't the Envoy been included? it's obviously a problem with this model as well. (although, other than the airbag recall, I have never received notices about any other recalls regarding my vehicle even though it appears there have been other issues).

4 Battery problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 04/03/2011

Speedometer begin sticking above zero when car was turned off. Gradually, the speedo stuck higher and higher, until it remained pegged and ceased to function. Soon after, all instruments in the panel successive failed - including fuel gauge, tachometer, oil pressure, and battery level. . . It appears to be at this point a complete failure of the instrument cluster. Most worrisome, the speedometer and the fuel gauge read incorrectly at all all times, if they read at all.

5 Battery problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 03/21/2011

2005 GMC Envoy xl has several issues with the instrument cluster. The battery and temperature gauges are reading off the scale past their maximum readings. It should also be noted that this vehicle also had issues with the fuel gauge sending unit and the engine thermostat.

6 Battery problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 03/09/2011

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. While driving approximately 35 mph the speedometer reading began to fluctuate. The contact stated that while at a stop sign, the speedometer displayed 50 mph. The fuel, rpms, water temperature, battery and the oil pressure gauge fluctuated as well. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

7 Battery problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 08/25/2010

Electrical system has issues. The truck (with a new battery) need to be jumped. Occassionally it will turn without a jump, the radio and other electrical items reset. The stabilitrac light comes on.

8 Battery problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/28/2010

1. 2004 GMC Envoy instrument cluster panel intermittently malfunctioning on and off. 2. Ongoing since October 2008. All gauges in the instrument panel will suddenly stop/start functioning for varying lengths of time. The consequence is that the driver is unable to determine driving speed, gas fuel level, and battery status leading to obvious and potentially serious safety concerns. 3. Owner currently seeking financial relief from GMC and us government for recall to have faulty instrument panel replaced at no cost to consumer.

9 Battery problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 01/02/2010

This vehicle seems to have an electircal drain or electrical ghost of some sorts. The battery has been replaced by the dealer 4 time with the previous owner. That was the dealers cure. Then when I purchased it I replaced the battery. Then it was replaced for the 6th time 18 months later. The rear window on the tail gate kept going down on it's own until the motor flew apart. The window behind the rear seat went down on it's own and does not work anymore. The retractable back roof will not engage due to the rear window. Driving down the road the ac will come on by itself also the radio, the seat heaters. Now while I'm driving at night the headlights will go out on their own, luckily the bright lights still work, but that's not helping the poor soul in front of me. Gm says that there is no recall on any of this but I'm almost terrified to drive this vehicle or let anyone else drive it at night or anytime for that matter. Not to mention any kind of electrical problems that I may of overlooked.

10 Battery problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

Stabilitrac and/or abs system engages when not necessary such as driving on dry, straight pavement at highway speeds. Causes vehicle to decelerate suddenly and almost lose control when brakes activate and motor retards. Electrical system also fluxuates (altimeter bounces from low to hi) causing a loss of power with associated loss of steering, lights, braking controls, at any speed. Problem has been increasing (frequency & severity) from July, 2009 to present (Jan, 2010). Dealer shop did stabilitrac TSB firmware upgrade (and charged me) w/o correcting problem, also retested and "could not find anything wrong":battery is new but problem persists. 55,000 miles, mostly highway/improved roads. This occurs every time, literally, the vehicle is moved: 30-40 miles/day. 1/6/10 engine developed "low growl" noise and rpm dropped from ~800rpm to ~600rpm at parked idle w/o any apparent cause. Now idle at start is normal, but within 1-2 minutes drops and remains low with growl noise.

11 Battery problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

Instrument panel cluster issues. Driver 1 resets to unknown driver, abs light, seatbelt light, 4-wheel drive, etc. Lights flash on and off, battery gage fluctuates, headlights and instrument panel lights flicker dim to bright. Occurs while driving down the road very sporadic. Diagnostic stated faulty instrument panel cluster. Issue if not fixed, the vehicle could stall when driving and lose power.

12 Battery problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 05/15/2008

The cluster gauge quit working. First the gas gauge stopped reading the amount of gas in the tank. Second, the speedometer and tachometer quit reading. About a month later the oil pressure gauge stopped working. Currently out of the entire cluster gauge system the battery meter is the only gauge that works.

13 Battery problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 02/10/2008

I'm back! yes here we go again a repetitive issue w/GMC here it's July 20012 and yet no reply from GMC or dealership on my continual problems with all gauges located on instrument cluster. Sure reimbursed partially for charges replacing fuel sensor but notified to contact dealer where repair was completed but no return calls from GMC and the so what dealership which they call their establishment. This was only one of many problems. Gauges fluctuate speedometer, rpm, fuel, battery, water temp just say all the damn gauges suck. How does GMC guarantee today try are vehicles today if not satisfied bring them back bs why not take all these GMC Envoys from 2003-2008 back or better yet resolve our issues. Strongly I feel let's all unite & file a major law suit against GMC for hardship, false information, defective product sold, stress, anger maybe they will address our issues ASAP. Disabled vietnam vet who depends on Envoy for medical appointments. Today rarely drive my Envoy due to my personal fear running out of fuel or being in an accident. Please department of transportation & highway safety or safercar. Gov address our issues with extreme urgency, would be appreciated, check my previous issues reported. Yeah, was planning purchasing new GMC truck in 2013 GMC blew this from occurring totally, thank you for your valuable time.

14 Battery problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/10/2007

I have a 2005 GMC Envoy. The Envoy began experiencing problems at approximately 58, 000 miles when the gas tank began reading empty no matter how much gas was in the tank. Eventually, after much complaining to my local dealership they stated they would only repair the problem if I paid for half of the repairs. I refused. Later, at approximately 80,000 miles, my speedometer began malfunctioning. The speedometer works intermittently, just recently it was stuck at 120 mph even in park. Now, the battery gauge has begun to malfunction. The battery charge ranges from the lowest to the highest with no real rhyme or reason. It is apparent by reading on the internet forums that this is a major product defect as it happens to many, many GMC owners, especially 2002-2005 Envoy owners. I have filed complaints with GMC directly and received responses that are not satisfactory. These items should be a recall effort and repaired by GMC as they are clearly product default not just general ware and tear of the vehicle. These problems are costly and present safety issues while driving.

15 Battery problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 11/17/2006

At the beginning of Nov there was two occasions that I got into my vehicle and while I was driving to work my headlights and the lights in the dash board would dim and flash every time I let my foot off the accelerator. The gauage to the battery would drop down pass the half point. And I would here clicking in my steering column, this is something that has been going on. I told the GMC dealerabout this, they could not duplicate my concern at that time. He gave me a #02-06-03-008a form and told me it couldnt be fixed. I am very upset by this I am driving a defective SUV. I am afraid of going out to start my SUV and it not start. That is one of the problems it could have.

16 Battery problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

2006 GMC Envoy xl. Since the car was purchased there have been repeated issues with the service lights. This problem has occurred repeatedly through 2012 where a variety of lights come on. Some stop the car from starting. . . In 2006, service stabilitrack consistently comes on along with 3-56 other lights at the same time. I've been told the connectors are dirty, that I needed a battery replacement which was untrue. Other times the car has gone for service, noone really has the right fix. There is something wrong with all the sensors.

17 Battery problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 07/06/2006

There are 3 consistent problems with my 05 Envoy. My lights flicker and battery gauge goes down suddenly this happens about once a month. Upon exiting my truck I always get a huge shock!! the knobs on the sides of my front seats keep coming off, I have had one replaced before now they are both off and missing, they must have fell out the door one day.

18 Battery problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 10/03/2003

October-03 to March-04, between 800 and 3000 mileage: several dual automatic climate control system problems. Temperature would run berserk (very hot in cold weather when set at 55f, no ac in hot weather). The radio would loose its preset stations. Dealer could not identify problem (no code was set) and told me to return when condition repeats without turning off the engine. He finally found a code indication communication interruption and low battery voltage. No action was taken. The problem resurfaced temporarily again in summer of 2005.
