The driver side window control caught fire, while the vehicle was sitting overnight. It was sitting by itself without reason to catch fire, but it did burn inside the driver side door.
The contact owned a 2005 GMC Envoy. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph the entire dash illuminated and needles on gauges had begun to move independently. The contact heard an abnormal "popping" sound from the front end of the vehicle and gray smoke was emitted from under the hood, the vehicle stalled. Unknown all the cluster panels quite working. Rpm, speed, oil, water, gas shows always empty. Danger because have to guess my speed and never know if I have enough gas, oil, or water in my car. Also sometimes when I shut off my car I cannot get the key out of the steering column. Cannot leave my car without my keys.
Headlight's,taillight's,turn signals stop working whenever they want. It's pretty scary to lose your headlight's when your driving at night. There's nothing I can do about it,except to sit wherever it happend and wait for them to come back on. My wife was following me one day and told me my brakelight's and turn signal stopped working and started to work again, she said this happened a couple time's at the same red light. There a couple of thing's (electrical)inside the vehicle that don't work anymore but I really dont care about them. To get the odometer to work I have to knock pretty hard on the plastic cover that cover's the instrument cluster, sometimes it stay's on,most of the time it wont stay on. The dic (driver control center) doesn't work anymore. I cant even get to it. The speakers on the left side of the vehicle dont work anymore. I thought I would tell you about the inside also because it could be part of the problem. All of this happened when I was driving home from my daughter's two night's ago. I bought this vehicle about three or four's year's ago,and I had no problem's with it untill the other night. The person I bought it from is a good friend of mine. He said he never had a problem with it,plus I have been in this vehicle countless times, that's why I bought it. Thank you.

I purchased my vehicle in oct of 2021 in Nov 2021 is when my car started failing my car started to lose power also started smoking from the lower passenger side no warning lights came on besides the oil warning light since Nov 2021 my car has been losing power it only goes up to about 40 m. P. H I have been smelling fuel coming from some where my tail and license plate light and back driver side inside car light stopped working the engine light turns on and off the steering wheel makes the car lose a little bit of power when I turn the wheel or when I roll up and down the windows or adjust my seat my ac does not work the back ac turns on by it's self to the heater does not work when I have it turned all the way to the 5 I hear clicking knocking noises in the back passenger side of the car my fuel injectors had puddles of oil in them the car gets really hot and blows hot air the engine is always hot the seatbelt lights are constantly flashing my check engine light as of today flashes on and off and the car jumps also my car caught on fire under the hood where the O2 sensor is started smoking than caught on fire.
All the gages have stopped working correctly. They do not report proper information to driver . The electrical wiring to the rear wiper, license plate lights and rear hatch stopped working. The most dangerous thing is the abs brake system dash lights and bell comes on every time the car is driven and the brake pedal goes to the floor when trying to stop.
When I turn on my right turn signal my high beams come on. This is a not only a safety issue but also causes road rage issues.
While driving in a 40 mph zone I glanced at the speedometer and it read 70 mph! I immediately applied the brakes to slow the vehicle down before I realized that the speedometer indication was inaccurate. Upon coming to a complete stop the speedometer indicated 40 mph. This happened several times before resuming normal operation. Since then I have noticed the gauge "sticking" when letting off of the gas pedal. This is creating an un-safe condition for myself as well as the occupants of this vehicle. I do not know when the speed indication is truly accurate. I have since learned that this is a common defect on this vehicle as well as other gm models made during this time frame. There should definitely be a recall on this problem before an accident occurs.
The daytime running lights (drl) and the low beam headlights do not light even when the dashboard light switch is placed in the headlight on position. Troubleshooting revealed that this failure was caused by the body control module (bcm) located beneath the rear seat. A digital logic signal from this module, based on sensor inputs from the ambient light sensor, parking brake and windshield wipers, is provided to the under-hood electronic relay that activates the headlights. There are three possible signal outputs from the bcm. . . A logic low (lights off), a logic high (low beams full on) or a pulse width modulated signal to create the dimmer drl low beam intensity. If the bcm fails, the low beam headlights will not turn on. There is no affirmative input to the electronic relay from the light switch, not routed through the bcm, to activate the low beam headlamps. This is a major safety issue. When the bcm fails at night, the driver has no low beam headlamps. The only lights available are the fog lamps or the high beam lamps, but only after setting the dashboard light switch to the headlamp position. Headlamps are a necessity, not a optional feature. Their operation should not rely on an electronic sub-system whose failure mode prevents the low beam headlights from working. This system was designed the easy way without regards to vehicle safety. . . Namely that when the dashboard light switch is in the on position, the headlights are enabled by a signal directly from that switch. Without an affirmative enabling signal from the manual dashboard light switch, the system and vehicle operator is at the mercy of the bcm, which could fail at night or on the weekend (when a repair shop is unavailable) rendering the vehicle dangerous or un-driveable.
Both daytime running lights and headlights and high beams cut off while driving. Was pulled over for defective equipment. Wires in passenger headlight melted, didnt check drivers side. There are recalls on the 06 Envoy headlights, but I was informed that it doesnt apply to my VIN. Even though I am can no longer drive at night due to vehicle defect.
I rolled my driver's window down this morning and tried to roll it back up and it acted like it didn't want to go back up. It started to go up and then it stopped after a few seconds and I tried hitting the button again and nothing happened. Then I hit the button again and it started to go up but very slowly then it stopped again. I did this for a bit until the window went all the way up. This has happened a couple other times also. Today was the 1st time that it really did not want to go back up. The vehicle was stopped in a parking lot at that time.

The check stabilitrak light keeps coming on causing the check engine light to come on causing Envoy to loose power. While driving. Second issue is the drivers door started acting up didn't want to go up and now will not do anything causing the entire system to not lock and work the mirrors or anything electrical from the door panel.
Driving at night and headlights on low beam and then they'll shut off.
I was driving down the road when the car shut down everything I was scared because I had traffic right behind me going 45mph and then they car would not run again. I was right in the middle of an inter section at hall road and 59 it was the scariest thing that has happened to me. I bought this vehicle as a used auto and I'm not sure if the emmission system ever got changed and this happened once before and the dealer said not to drive with my house keys attached. I had to get the auto towed home.
Driver's door master power window switch module was working intermittently and now is inoperable causing me to become locked out of my vehicle. There was a similar recall to the same year Envoys in 2014, but when I checked the VIN mine was not included in the recall, but am having the same issue.
Front passenger seat caught on fire from the seat heater. The vehicle parked and turned off. It was parked in a high school parking lot while my daughter was in school. We contacted GMC, but they said it there was nothing they could do. There was something that went wrong for it to just catch fire. Can you help us in anyway at all.
Car started on fire after turning it on seemed to come from dashboard, spread to front seats it was parked at the time, fire department stated it was from vents ,heating motor.
Headlamps turn off win driving it has done this in the city and on the highway I have to pull over and turn the key off and win I restart it its fine. This occurred suddenly and intermittently still not determined why. I did find a recall on these vehicles but my VIN is not listed this is not safe and gm should pay fore it not me thank you. 2007 GMC Envoy.
Had problems with the heater's blower motor not blowing or sometimes blowing but not on every speed. Looked up issue on youtube and found many videos of the same issue and the videos showed them having to replace the heater's blower motor resister. As the resister was being replaced, we noticed the resister was melted onto the plug it plugs into and the thick red wire was also melted. Resister got replaced and the blower speeds all worked again. Shortly after installation of the new resister, the number 5 speed failed but all others continued. Three months later, the resister failed. Exchanged and replaced the resister again and worked on all speeds but 5 again. Had a smell to it while in use, we got use to it and thought nothing of it anymore. Worked for over 2 years until 1/12/2019 when as the Envoy was in my yard warming up in below freezing temperatures, the vehicle caught fire without and warning and burned under the glove box catching the contents in the glove box on fire and making the vehicle burst into flames and even had an explosion inside the vehicle. Black smoke was pouring out on the area of the passenger side windshield wiper area. There was a hole in the windshield above the wiper.
My right window passenger side window would not go up so I took it to a shop. He took the piece where I control the window off and it had caught on fire. It was all melted & corroded I have pictures.
I began to have issues with my headlights, low and high beams, flickering off and on at random for about 4 months until my brake lights started to do the exact same 7 months ago and now they have quit working all together! I have taken this SUV to 4 different shops now, and nobody has been able to figure out why this is happening. The last mechanic who attempted to fix the issue, says he found an older recall on the original manufactured tag lights being malfunctioned to the point it causes issues with the front and back lights. The man shown me the information on this recall, seeing the part # is listed on there, I compared it to mine and a neighbor's 2002 Envoy; which both of our Envoys have these malfunctioned parts. Gm has not contacted us back, and we're at a loss because it's a part needed from them directly. We have spoken to many Envoy owners on a web forum, and there are hundreds maybe thousands of Envoys out there with these same issues, causing accidents on the road way too often! it's dangerous, and nobody will help with this irritating issue!.
Air condition blower motor caught fire in dash and burnt the vehicle.

Driving at a low speed down hill on a city street, with the car in the drive position, the car stalled. This happened again driving on a flat service of a parking lot of a shopping center. Again, with the car in the drive position going at a low speed the car stalled.
Fuel light stays on constantly & fuel gauge always showing empty when vehicle running in motion or stationary.

I had just drove my truck the night before headlights worked fine. I went to leave the next night and no headlights at all. So vehicle was stationary when I realized I had no headlights. I have to drive with my brights on at night. I have no regular headlights at all. Then my passenger side window just quit working as well.
2006 GMC Envoy engine shuts off while driving code po601 find out it's the pcm.
My vehicle just suddenly stopped dead, in the road after leaving my residence and all control was lost. Unable to put transmission in neutral to push vehicle off road. I had it repaired by a trained mechanic and was told it was a faulty ignition. I had the faulty ignition replaced and the vehicle was operational again along with the worry of this happening again.
