My 2004 GMC Envoy xuv had at least 12 failures to stop. This issue began occurring as soon as I bought it new in 2005. Description of the issue: 1. While applying brakes, brake pedal becomes soft for a period of time (shortest 1 second, longest 3-4 seconds) causing failure to stop. 2. Issue is very intermittent and occurs at any traveling speeds (example: 75 mph, 15 mph). . . What was done: 1. First complaint to service department in 2005: no issues found. 2nd complaint at 2005: dealer replaced brake booster. 3rd complaint in Jun 2006: dealer replaced brake booster again. Conclusion: since this issue is very intermittent and I do not drive this vehicle very often, it may take some time to verify the fix. I do not feel safe to drive this SUV.

I bought my GMC Envoy in January 2004 for approx. $42,000. This car has everything. After about 2 months of the purchase, my gps went out and had been fixed twice. My brakes do not always work --sometimes they slip especially when I need them most -which is scary. GMC said that they have heard about this problem before, but did nothing to resolve the problem. The engine stalls periodically. GMC said they do not know why. The gas gauge and odometer do not work properly. When I brought my vehicle into north county GMC dealership in san diego for repairs I mentioned my gas gauge did not work along with many of the other issues. After they repaired the odometer by replacing the cluster, the gas gauge still did not work. Every single time these problems happen I am forced to pay a $100 service charge just so they can look at it and because I am in sales, I am also forced to get a rental car. After all this, I am still quite displeased with GMC. I hate to say it but they are supposed to be the best american car ã‚??professional gradeã‚?? and if this is true I will never buy an american vehicle again. GMC said they would be checking on all these problems and every single time I picked my Envoy up after they supposedly fixed the problems, I found several issues still unresolved. They suggest I need to set another meeting to bring my Envoy in and of course will cost another $100.
For I have a 2002 GMC Envoy that is having brake problems and the answer that I was getting from the dealer was that my brakes were low, well I changed them and the problem is still there, for at times when holding down the brake the pedal will stop and then drop about an eight of an inch ( as if there is air in the lines) and I don't know if electrical problems are thought of as dangerous, but I have them too.

Problems with brake equipment on 2003 Envoy. While driving at 15 mph consumer put foot on brakes and vehicle would not stop cause vehicle to hit another vehicle in front.
2003 GMC Envoy with a list of problems ** the consumer began to hear a knocking and pinging in the engine on cold starts and felt a hesitation when the automatic transmission shifted into gear. After many complaints, it was finally discovered the engine knock was due to shorter pistons in the re-designed engine and the hesitation in the transmission shifting required reprogramming. The consumer was told he would have to live with the engine knock, because it could be more trouble taking the engine apart. On a separate occasion, the engine stalled due to the battery dying. From April 2004 to October 2004 the battery failed several times and had to be re-charged. During that same time the engine light illuminated and each time it happened, the dealer would have to reprogram the engine computer. The radio was not functioning properly which primarily consisted of static. The driver information center control knobs as well as the radio knobs wore out. The front center console was loose. The drivers side door didn't close properly, the windshield wipers were replaced within the first 2 years.
When dealership changed oil, an oil pressure hose was found to be leaking oil from engine. Problem was repaired by the dealership. Vehicle has experienced several problems with the windshield wipers, deale has replaced the multifunction switch, rear wiper motor, front wiper terminal board and wiper module. Rear speakers have humming noises, speaker was shorting out, later consumer heard whistle noises in the rear speaker. When starting, there was a rattle noise, dealer found exhaust out of alignment. Alternator voltage drops with load below 35 amps, dealer replaced alternator, there was a squeak in the rear suspension, dealer found the e brake cable was chaffing on bushings, dealer repositioned e brake cable.
