GMC Sierra owners have reported 9 problems related to car throttle sticking (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I just bought a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup with the 5. 3 liter engine. The throttle sticks when you start off in it from a stopped position. The accelerator has a tight spot in it when you first press on it. This can be very dangerous if it sticks too much when it breaks loose the truck will go forward real quick and you could hit somebody or something. Someone told me that the butterfly had carbon built up on it and it needed cleaning. I called a gm dealer and talked to the service manager and he said it was reported before and he would clean the throttle valve for $90. 00. I think this should be covered by the manufacturer and besides it will happen again when carbon builds up on it again. A permanent fix needs to be put in place as a recall item I think.

Throttle pedal sticks during startup. Mr.
Throttle body sticking. Dealer notified, and informed consumer no recalls on that problem. Feel free to provide any further details on this matter.
While backing out of garage, truck went full throttle without foot being on the accelerator pedal. Driver had to stand on brake and turn ignition off to get truck to stop. Truck was taken to the dealership. Throttle body was replaced due to sticking.
Throttle body sticks. It is hard to push the gas pedal to try to acclerate at a slow speed. When finally pushing pedal in throttle will snap towards the floor. Contacted dealer, and dealer has tried to fix everything. They could guess what has been causing the problem but with no success. Each time repair was done, it lasted only 8,000-9,000 miles. The consumer believes the problem was very serious and affects other drivers too.
Throttle is sticking between shifts when clutch is depressed and/or accelerater is released, not allowing truck to slow down for approximately 5-10 seconds, creating a very unsafe situation in parking lots and heavey traffic. Dealer can't fix. Told that this is normal. Also said resetting computer would help. It dosen't. Problem didn't start until there was 13000 miles and wasn't documented by dealer. Tried 2 prom updates didn't change.

Throttle body sticks while driving. Had built up dirt and varnish. This caused vehicle to lunge forward when pressing on pedal. Drivetrain makes a clunking noise due to a lack of lubrication. This can cause teeth not to mesh correctly.
