Electronic abs brake failure with 73 miles on odometer while stopped at red light alarm chimes sounded and power brakes were lost. Warning lights on dash abs brake failure multiple engine warning lights came on. Dealer service was puzzled needed to contact gm technical support. Final outcome they are replacing the electronic brake module.

2 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 03/03/2020

The abs system failed while driving down the road causing the brakes to lock up and caused the truck to spin out of control nearly crashing into another vehicle and jumping over the center divide into oncoming traffic.

Failure Date: 10/20/2019

Brand new truck with less than 1250 miles on it! abs brakes failed. Forced to drive on dangerous grade down sierra nevadas with very limited braking. Message not to drive over 62 mph. Error code c0580 abs braking and stability system, issue with abs and error code p25a2 ecm engine system - engine & transmission not performing as expected. Other codes includec2a17, u0100 u026a & u0415. GMC knows about the problem and they have possible fix but is not issuing a recall. Dealer indicates reprogramed the brake system control module. War code 28yn28687675. Cleared the dtc and roadtest. Found the lights did not come back on and the brack system is working ok (just "ok") now. Also, GMC will not confirm the problem will not reoccur again.

4 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 1999 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 01/06/2017

Brake lines rusted , abs failure ,gas lines rusted, trans cooling lines rusted. These were all failures that needed replacement through the years I have owned it. Now frame rusted and cracked . Truck basically shot .

5 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 1997 GMC Sierra 1500

Tl-the contact owns a 1997 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the abs system failed. While, driving the brake pedal had to depress simultaneously for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. The manufacturer advised that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaing 04v045000 (service brakes, hydraulic) the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 140,000. Li.

My 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 with 25000 miles on it had both front wheel abs sensors failed. Causing engaging of the anti lock brakes, when brakes is depressed when moving at less than 10 mph.

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 mph and depressing the brakes, there was a loss of 80-90 percent braking power. The abs system independently engaged and would not disengage. The vehicle was carefully driven home. The rotors and brake pads were replaced and the wheel cylinders were bled by the contact. In addition, the contact disconnected the abs fuse and the failure did not recur. The dealer was not contacted. The failure and current mileage was approximately 94,000.

12 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 1999 GMC Sierra 1500

The contact owns a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500. While pulling into a parking garage at 5 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed. The contact crashed into a wall. The vehicle is currently at the body shop and the mechanic stated that the abs failed and disabled the brakes. The vehicle will be taken to the dealer to have the failure verified. The manufacturer informed the contact that his insurance company would need to file a claim and a gm inspector should be available within several days. The dealer information was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 118,085. Updated 12-31-07. The consumer believed the abs module was defective.

13 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/01/2006

On or about 12/01/06, while pulling my truck ahead, the brakes failed, causing me to roll into a parked vehicle. On 3 other occasions, my truck has rolled through intersections due to abs failure. I contacted my dealership about the problems I was having and they referred me to gm. When I contacted gm, they alluded to the fact that they were aware of the defect but then indicated that the brakes work as designed. I was then advised that nothing could be done with regards to the brake system but was given some free oil changes for my troubles. When I did finally receive the 12,000 mile oil change coverage, due to delays in their processing, the coverage was actually for only 7900 miles. When gm was contacted, they refused to correct this error.

14 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 04/18/2003

Abs brakes failed to work at 7-8 mph. Truck hit vehicle in front of it. Dealer said all is well.

15 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 1999 GMC Sierra 1500
