1 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2002 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 05/30/2012

When operating vehicle at slow speed and attempting to stop anti lock brakes engage and increased stopping distance is required. This vehicle was recalled for same problem in 2005. I made an attempt at my local GMC dealer to remedy this continuing problem. However, I was informed that general motors would only make one attempt to remedy issue and that I already had used that. The dealer representative stated that I could pull the fuse on the abs and the vehicle would perform stopping without the aid of abs and would stop normally in dry environment, without the assistance of anti lock brakes. I feel this is a design problem and is a tremendous safety issue. I did take vehicle to another mechanic who drove vehicle in his parking lot and the problem occurred to him almost causing a crash in his lot.

Failure Date: 12/12/2006

I purchased a brand new 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup from lone star pontiac Buick GMC in mckinney, texas on 11/18/06. Only after being pulled over for speeding did I realize the speedometer was not calibrated correctly after the dealership had installed an after-market lift kit and large tires and wheels on this truck. I discovered by calling another gm dealer that because the speedometer is not calibrated correctly it causes the anti-lock brake system to not function properly. The dealership willfully and without regard to the safety of its customers sold vehicles like mine that had brake systems that did not work properly. The general manager confirmed that they have sold many trucks like this so it is reasonable to assume there are many trucks on the road now which may have faulty anti-lock braking systems. I am concerned for everyone else that purchased one of these trucks and aren't aware their brakes don't work right. The general manager told me that the speedometers can not be calibrated correctly.

We have symptoms of the GMC truck recall inl 05v379000 . We have safety concerns because our truck fails to stop properly and we concerned this will ultimately cause an accident. We took our vehicle in for diagnostics at brookfield pontiac-GMC truck dealer. Diagnostics has determined that we indeed have the failures defined in recall 05v379000 . We are informed wisconsin has been left out of this recall. Our neighboring states such as illinois and michigan however are included. We feel GMC has left our safety at chance and feel this is a legitimate complaint that GMC needs to include any consumer that has this saftey issue defined in 05v379000 . We are filing this complaint as a record for when, and if this safety issue, causes an accident and bodily harm or worse. As we can testify wisconsin residents are seeing this safety issue defined in the recall 05v379000 and our safety should be addressed by the GMC corporation as it has been by other states surrounding us.
