1 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 08/07/2015

The backseat headrests do not remain in the upright position. They slide down with the slightest contact from the person's head. The maintenance/service person at the dealership indicated that there has been numerous complaints from owners. He indicated that at this time it is a "no fix" problem. This is unacceptable and does not meet the national highway traffic boards regulations on headrest equipment. This is a real safety concern. The service department indicated that a latch needs to be installed to hold the headrest in place. If this is not corrected, people will at some point in time sustain serious injury. I feel like contacting 60 minutes with the problem and your response.

2 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 01/27/2015

Clock and outside air temp readings are so small, you can't see them, without taking your eyes off the road, long enough to bend over close to the radio. This is as bad as someone using a cell phone to send and receive text. I have driven off the road twice, but have not crashed yet. My gm dealer says, the readings can not be made larger, and to be very careful.

3 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

I was approaching a stop sign driving approximately 45 mph. When I applied the brakes the pedal went to the floor, and the vehicle wouldn't stop. I manuevered past several vehicles almost striking them. I was able to apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle after some distance past the intersection. I am a police officer with 25 years on the job. I have attending various driving courses related to my profession. If a lay person was in this situation a serious accident would have happened. I barely escaped the accident due in part to training and a large amount of luck. On the day of the incident the vehicle had stopped normal at three prior intersections without giving any warning of a potential problem. I have read on line the theory about the salt causing the damage to the brake lines. I have never driven this vehicle in the snow since it is a spare vehicle. The vehicle has 72000 miles a large majority of those miles driven on the highway (summer and fall). I bought this vehicle new from the dealership in 2004. The cost to repair the brake lines was $1,100 dollars. A recall should be made in regards to this defect before someone is killed or seriously injured. I had a mechanic shop repair the vehicle since the dealership claimed they had no other reported failures on this vehicle. A quick look on various websites showed that to be a false claim. Anyone driving these types of vehicles please have your brake lines inspected by a mechanic.

4 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2007 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 10/05/2012

70,000. Miles low oil light comes on, just had my oil changed 1000 mile before. Took in to gm dealer they told me oil pan gasket was bad. Repaired. 1000 miles later low oil light came on, took back to dealership. No issue found. Truck just burning oil! the truck keeps using 2 to 3 quarts of oil dealer will not do anything. Call gm they advise to go to dealership and do oil consumption test. Did this taking it back to dealership every 500 miles to have oil checked. Used 2-1/2 quarts of oil between oil changes. Told dealer this was not normal to fix my truck. Dealer advised gm would not fix my truck because this is normal usage. It is now using about 3 quarts between oil changes. Gm told me to go back to dealer to have another oil consumption test done. We see they hide problems well, as was the last recall. How about getting them to address or fix this issue. They are still advertising the afm engine , and raising the normal oil useage from a quart to 2 quarts. As anyone can see with the latest recalls they will hide or not acknowledge the problem. They are worried about their bottom line. Not the customer. See how many changes and service bullitons have been issued due to this oil consumption issue. My gm case # 71-1118075589. They tend to close these case numbers quick. And then they assign you another case number each time you call customer service to hide the fact they have problems. When dealer does oil consumption I find they do not show anything back to gm or attach a record to your VIN #. Last couple of time I spoke to gm customer service, they had no record of me ever having an oil consumption problem. And my last case number did not show up in their system. All you have to do to see the problem is "google " gm 5. 3 oil consumtion problem. You will find more than a few complaints.
